Mount Eerie - "The Place Lives" (Official Music Video)
Phil Elverum , aka Mount Eerie , has given us the music video for "The Place Lives", the first visuals from his latest LP Clear Moon . Being a native of the Pacific Northwest, Elverum's visual accompaniment sees him journeying through the dense, emerald forests that the region is known for. Being a native of the Pacific Northwest as well, the natural beauty Elverum indulges in is very familiar to me. Although, for those who've yet to experience these lush evergreen forests in person, this video is a perfect example of this majestic environment. Watch [...]

Mount Eerie- “Pale Lights”

Mount Eeire - Pale Lights
Mount Eerie's last album, Clear Moon , definitely took drone and repetition to the forefront for the longtime musical project of singer-songwriter Phil Elverum. Phil is now gearing up to release his second album of 2012, Ocean Roar , and "Pale Lights" is the first song to drop from it. The track still makes use of the repetitive direction Moon did, but with a much more ferocious sound. The track is strangely structured, too. It does through phases of loud and soft with instrumentation gradually being faded [...]

At this point, the entire region of the Northwest is basically as much a member and driving force behind Mount Eerie as Phil Elverum is. In the video for "The Place Lives," Elverum walks on ... read more

Video: Mount Eerie – The Place Lives

Video: Mount Eerie – The Place Lives Mount Eerie has released a viscerally-chugging, bland, but exquisite music video to "The Place Lives" , the second track from Clear Moon . The music, while maintaining the dark mysticism, adds well to a mysterious video that's basically about a man walking and emptying a drink into a hole in the ground. It seems to have more effect with the music. Aesthetically pleasing aside, this track has got to be one of the most derivative  tracks. Never divulging from the origin, it still sounds meaningful after each listen. Even [...]

Video: Mount Eerie – “The Place Lives”

Video: Mount Eerie – “The Place Lives” Phil Elverum (AKA Mount Eerie ) has dropped his first music video to date for "The Place Lives", one of the highlights off this year's Clear Moon . Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Elverum goes on a hike to explore his surroundings, and the end result is a slightly disorienting journey through the emerald forests. Past episodes of The X-Files or Twin Peaks come to mind, but not the show's respective monsters and scares, instead its gloomy beauty. Stream it below. Clear [...]

Mount Eerie – “The Place Lives” Video

Mount Eerie – “The Place Lives” Video Right now, Phil Elverum is doing more with the basic elements of black metal than most black metal bands. The first bit of music we heard from his tantalizing forthcoming LP, Ocean Roar , an excerpt from the track " Pale Lights ," stripped the genre of its flesh and muscle and left only a ghost of unsettling ambient chill. "The Place Lives" offers more of the same, suggesting a terrific LP on its way (more or less a given to begin with). The clip for the track is the first ever released by Elverum, both created and produced [...]

Mount Eerie – Clear Moon

Dirty Projectors streams, stumps, Swing

Dirty Projectors streams, stumps, Swing Jason Frank Rothenberg It's a matter of public record - or at the very least Google index - that I was no fan of Dirty Projectors' last record Bitte Orca , even though objectively speaking it was obviously one of the albums of 2009. However, one of the nice things about a band as obviously talented - no way am I arguing that point - and creatively restless as they is that each new album is akin to a blank slate. So yeah, I'm giving their [...]

Mount Eerie: Clear Moon

Mount Eerie's journeys into the sublime aren't just philosophical, because Clear Moon is about turning the possibility of new experiences into new realities. The sublime has been a central interest of aesthetic theory puzzled over by deep thinkers from Edmund Burke to Kant and Hegel to postmodernists like Fredric Jameson. Eliciting the mixed reactions of overwhelming fear and intense pleasure, the sublime forces the individual to deal with phenomena beyond the easy comprehension of what the senses are conditioned to perceive. It's what Romantic poets grappled with as they attempted to tap into extreme experiences of pain [...]

TERRY MALTS - something about you [OFFICIAL]
