German skitter-bloop glitch pioneers Mouse On Mars haven't released a new album in six years, but they'll break that streak in February with the new joint Parastrophics . And right now, you can click here to hear a collection of clips from the album. Parastrophics is out 2/28 on Monkeytown .

Modeselektor recently tipped off the online music scene to three clips of songs off of Mouse on Mars's forthcoming album, Parastrophics . "Wienuss" rocks with funky percussion and energized electronic beat while "Metrotopy" focuses more on experimenting with distorted vocals. "Chordblocker, Cinnamon Toasted" is my favorite of the three since Steven Jo shows up over an Autechre-esque beat to inform us that Facebook is a "cockblocker." Very promising overall. It was the middle of last decade that we last saw dance experimentalists Mouse On Mars drop a studio album on us and I'll go ahead and say there has been a little something missing from electronic music over the past six years without them. But they're back. The duo announced their upcoming album today, the very Mouse On Mars-y titled Parastrophics, which will get a release on Monkeytown on February 28th of next year. The press release describes Parastrophics as, An album with singing bass drums, screwed up beats, tinnitus synths [...]

Since 1993, Germany's Mouse On Mars , aka Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner, has plotted its own unique path across the electronic landscape, teetering between hedonistic dance beats and painstakingly developed sonic textures over nine studio albums. Following their recent orchestral-backed performances known as Paeanumnion , which saw the duo digitally-crafting sounds and processing the orchestra in real-time using their own custom designed music software, Toma and St. Werner are now set to utilize the technology on their first studio release in six years, Parastrophics . Recorded and mixed over the last [...]
90s Electronic band Mouse On Mars (aka Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma) might have already released nine studio albums (on labels such as Domino, Thrill Jockey, Ipecac and Rough Trade). But they have more new music to come, and this time round it will be released on Monkeytown. Their tenth album, Parastrophics , is to be released on February 28, 2012.

Electronic heavyweights Mouse On Mars are breaking a lengthy silence with a new studio album. Parastrophics , out February 28th, is the duo's tenth album and first in six years. Don't worry, I have no idea what the album title means either. I'll bring you more details as they become available.
I avoided 9/11 memories for most of the weekend, instead focusing on happier personal anniversaries. But then, big consciousness shifters have a way of bringing a dimension of themselves back to the forefront. Lots of images settle back on calamity, collapse, smoke, and diving bodies. But after that burns itself out, I go back to our untouched skyline and earlier feelings of its vertiginous enormity and my eager search for a place in it. Music like this almost puts it into frame. She had liked the young man's looks, and his short-sighted eyes, and his odd way of speaking, that was abrupt yet soft, just as his hands were sun-burnt and sinewy, yet with smooth nails like a woman's. His hair was sunburnt-looking too, or rather the colour of bracken after frost; his eyes grey, with the appealing look of the shortsighted, his smile shy yet confident, as if he knew lots of things she had never dreamed of, and yet wouldn't for the world have had her feel his superiority. But she did feel it, and liked the feeling; for it [...]

Filed under: Electronic , Exclusive , Canada Having seen trends in dance music come and go in a career spanning more than 15 years, the German duo's impossible-to-categorize electronica is exactly the kind of brave music that may find a larger audience than ever before. "We think that electronic music is really exciting again," Mouse On Mars ' Jan St. Werner tells Spinner. "Or maybe for the first time ever." St. Werner feels that now is the time to dive back into [...]

Toronto - Another week, another bunch of concerts to go to. Seriously, it's pretty pricey to be a music fan in Toronto. So many shows. Lets take a look at some bands coming. Brian Jonestown Massacre You never know what the hell to expect at a Brian Jonestown Massacre show. One thing for sure, Anton Newcombe will give you something to talk about. The band is back after a 5 year hiatus, to promote their new album Who Killed Sgt. Pepper? . Elephant Stone is opening, and they were really good [...]

sonig Groundbreaking German electronic duo Mouse On Mars have been relatively quiet in recent years - their last release under their own name was 2006's Varcharz , but then they were part of Von Sudenfed , who released Tromatic Reflexxions in 2007, and working with Mark E. Smith of The Fall is probably enough to send anyone into hiding for a few years. They're finally coming back, however - a website news update late last year announced that, " "Mouse [...]

Broken Bells So I'm sitting here on Wednesday night with a headache and a pile of links and no particular idea what I'm going to do with them. Got some contests and the last of the SxSW stuff to dole out over the long weekend, but for today, it's gonna be one of those housecleaning posts. Starting with the announcement of Broken Bells' first North American tour , which includes a June 2 date at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto. The collaboration between workaholic producer Danger Mouse and [...]

The highly innovative Düsseldorf-based duo of Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma emerged in the mid-90s as the figureheads of a new wave of German electronic music. The pair met (allegedly) at a death metal concert in 1993, and began recording obscure soundtrack material together as Mouse On Mars. They signed with UK label Too Pure for the release of 1994's debut EP Frosch, a multi-layered recording that drew on Krautrock, dub, techno and ambient to create a unique new sound. The duo's full-length debut, Vulvaland, was released to widespread acclaim, [...]
