Uncensored Interview brings you Sound Advice–Your weekly dashboard mounted GPS navigation system for living, with an indie twist. ThePerryTrain is on the move from blustery Chicago to beautiful Los Angeles. As a veteran of long distance moves from Toronto to New York, New York to Los Angeles and Los Angeles to Chicago, one acquires an intimate knowledge of the logistical issues involved. My eagerness to return to the west coast found The P-train hastily retaining an apartment "sight unseen" after just [...]

I woke extremely early today, a veritable jukebox playing in my head, perhaps because it was too soon for the dawn chorus to interrupt it. Some songs I knew, others were unknown & probably unwritten, save in my mind. Usually I can control the music, switching songs & mentally writing new ones that I'm never able to remember afterwards, but today I just had to let this internal ipod shuffle away randomly. T'was all good stuff, tho' in common with many dreamlike states, I'm hard-pressed to recall any songs now; but after getting up, still before the birds, [...]
My lady and I are moving into a new place. The decision to move, search for a new apartment and actual moving all happened (and is still happening) kind of quickly. Lori and I have lived in the Ellicott Shores Apartments for close to three years now. The apartments are located right on Chautauqua Lake in Celoron. It's a beautiful location, but there have been complications and quirks that have come as a trade-off for such a quality view. The village of Celoron has had the owner of our apartment complex in court in [...]

They have replaced him with the Barack. Even in wax he looks like a buffoon. Obama is all smiles. If I were them, I'd melt him and make another Kylie statue. Funny how they gave him baggage, too.

Sorry Maryland . It looks like Nicole Ritchie and Joel Madden are set to invade. Maryland is Joel's home state and according to rumors, they are planning on moving there. The move will follow a gigantic wedding. The are said to be setting up the ceremony for this Spring. The wedding will take place in L.A. as Nicole's last bash in California. The Madden - Richie event will be held at Papa Richie's house according to The National Enquirer. Currently they are house hunting in the state [...]

For our fourth year end column, staff writer Will Lynch rounds up his top five non-commercial mixes of 2008 . In the past few years the advent of "podcasts" has affected all sorts of music, but none so significantly as dance music. For us beat-mongers lurking in the blogosphere, commercial mix CDs and albums tend to be the exception rather than the rule, while unofficially released material dominates our music libraries. But as great as podcasts and bedroom mixes are, the relative ease with which they are created and released leads to serious [...]
The Cold Cut, as you know it, is in the process of migrating. I've been keeping things on the down low for a while, but Blogger have been bugging me over my posts and its time that we parted ways. They have been a good home for me, but The Cold Cut needs to move on and become part of something bigger. That 'thing' is Be All/End All. It's my new website, you see. But before you get worried about the wellbeing of The Cold Cut, let me explain... Music is starting to take [...]

From their news page : Kent and I moved to Minneapolis on a whim and started this project two and a half years ago. Ever since we've been traveling the country playing shows, making music, and living our dream. At the end of the month we'll be moving to Chicago to continue our musical endeavors from there. We are making this move for practical and personal reasons. We will miss the city of Minneapolis and all the good people we've met here, but we also look towards the future with great optimism. [...]

Like everyone else in the known world, I gave up on Q-Tip and the entirety of A Tribe Called Quest sometime after song two on The Love Movement . Sure, I waited in slightly eager anticipation for the supposedly mind-altering Kamaal The Abstract ... and waited and waited. I even got myself excited to see them live at Bumbershoot a few years back, but instead blacked out and ended up at a surprisingly enjoyable Feist show. Thus, when rumors started hitting that Q-Tip's newest The Renaissance was actually pretty good, I balked, chalking it up [...]
Hello dear readers. I apologize for the lack of wit filled pithy posts this past week. I really wish I had the time and the gumption to post new and amazing music for you each and every day {especially considering this past week saw new albums by The Killers, Kanye, and a new Coldplay EP}, but I've been super busy moving my life to a new city. In the past two weeks I've bought a new mobile phone, a new car, and have accepted a job which will plant me within easy driving distance of the 317 area code. [...]

[Simple Records] (buy vinyl) (buy mp3s) You'd be forgiven for thinking that Motorcitysoul's name is a nod in the direction of Detroit, but in actual fact the German duo of Matthias Vogt and C-Rock cite the Opel headquarters in Rüsselsheim, Frankfurt as the inspiration for their moniker. Nevertheless, their productions owe a debt to the cultural house heritage of both Detroit and Chicago, their latest EP, "Solar/Hatohay" being no exception. The original mix of "Hatohay" builds nicely with shakers shuffling around nimble congas, the bass line [...]

Immer Chic / Vakula / Even Tuell / Move D & Benjamin Brunn - Rüts 3/3 (buy) Focusing on the more experimental side of house and techno, Meakusma bring us the third of three EP's in their Rüts series. Andrew doesn't live here anymore. He packed up his stuff and moved to: http://www.armagideon-time.com / So, like, update your bookmarks and feeds and links and stuff, okay?
For weeks my son (my oldest) has been saying "Yeah Obama! Boo McCain!". I could go on and on, but he is five and his "vote" is based purely on the opinions of his friend. Let's just say I am voting for the guy with deep ties to Kenya. My son's "election" is about 16 years away and "Dog" knows who will be running the asylum then, but I hope that my son has more passion than I did at 18. Right now I know that I am making the right choice for him. Song: Ballots Not Bullets [...]

The Renaissance Q-Tip Universal Motown Back in the spring, when I first heard that Q-Tip was coming out with a new album, I wasn't sure if it would even be released. Weeks later, the lead single "Gettin Up" hit the internet and listeners got a taste of Q-Tip's latest blend of soul and funk inspired hip hop. In the months leading up to its release, The Renaissance slowly began to build more of a buzz and the Election Day release date sure won't hurt either as a promotional tool. [...]

Photo by Carsten Peter [ Smallville Records ] ( buy vinyl ) ( buy mp3s ) Six months since the release of Move D and Benjamin Brunn's acclaimed full length, a few more dollops have dripped from the beehive. On "New Horizon," our duo get a bit more mileage out of the syrupy palette that characterized Songs From the Beehive , but replace the drowsy rhythms with peppier booms and ticks. While it may not represent any surprising new artistic direction, "New Horizons" [...]
scott schultz Download: Henry Clay People "Andy Sings!" Per Henry Clay People people: As you know, Little Radio's Halloween Show was cancelled and The Henry Clay People's love for performing as The Ronald Reagan People every Halloween forced them to scramble for a last minute show...and we found one! Pretty much a sing/songy type of record. But I'm definitely diggin it . In fact, I'll go as far to say it's one of my favorite records of 2008 . I'm wondering where a lot of you will stand with it. It's kinda weird to see what hip hop has become. Q-Tip & Kanye & Mos Def are going R&B. Dipset is almost non-existent. Common is going hipster / electro. Jay-Z is doing "concept" albums. I'm not saying hip hop is bad or falling off. It's just really weird. - [...]
Aaaaaaaaaaand we're back. Spent a week in the lovely city of Madrid looking for an appartment, as the missus and I are moving there by the end of November. I will be working for these fine fellows . It was pretty hard (prices have been skyrocketing ever since I left eleven years ago), but we managed to find a place in the southwest of the city, in a barrio called Aluche . We're psyched.
