Okay. So Benjamin Button 's thirty-second spot scored by "My Body Is A Cage" from way back was chill-worthy to say the least, especially when the organs kicked in. But that was thirty seconds. This spot for Spike Jonzes' upcoming, much-hyped adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are takes "Using Arcade Fire songs in a movie trailer" to the next level, giving us just about two minutes of "Wake Up" as we see images of an imagination run wild. Wow, I guess "Wake Up" is the best youth rebellion song since..."Rebellion (Lies)." Click on for [...]

The Hold Steady, one of the greatest and most consistent rock bands of this generation, is releasing a live documentary called A Positive Rage, which, considering their live reputation, should be phenomenal. The DVD comes out on April 7th, along with an extra live album. Make sure to check out the band's fantastic cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City" (for the latest charity covers album, War Child: Heroes ), right here. The cover adds horns to brilliant effect, and since Finn already sounds a lot like Springsteen, it works really well overall. Listen to the cover: [...]

I slept last night, not well, but I slept. Thanks to the zero of you who e-mailed me positive thoughts or advice on how to find sleep in a temporarily stress-filled life. I'll have more to talk about tomorrow, but I simply cannot will myself to write anything today. Sorry, folks. Enjoy this quick hit "Artificial Artificial Paradises" LiveJournal. If you don't remember, I used to keep a LiveJournal (2003-2006) that basically chronicled my experiments with various substances intended to catapult normal everyday humans into hyper-aware super-apes, the kind most often referenced on Lee "Scratch" Perry / the Upsetters albums. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =S8McigtiN9k If you were a fan of Sub Pop, Canadian rock music, Sonic Youth, or lo-fi albums that sounded like they were recorded with a four-track held together by some rubber bands and a couple of pipe-cleaners, then 90s-alt-punk band Eric's Trip should not be unfamiliar to you. If you were busy listening to Smashmouth and Sugar Ray, however, let's get you up to speed: Formed in 1990 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, Eric's Trip (who took their moniker from the Sonic Youth song of the same name) [...]
