In my review of last night's amazing Kanye West show at Fader Fort, I dissed one of Mr. West's proteges, English singer-songwriter Mr. Hudson . While checking into my hotel a few hours ago near the airport, I literally bumped into the man himself in the lobby, and I can report that he's one cool bloke. Now I feel like a douche and a half for calling him out. Anyway, he's a transcript of our brief encounter. LWMB: Excuse me, are you Mr. Hudson? [...]

We know you've all been planning your TX days and nights without worrying about the Levi's®/FADER Fort , because you already knew that it's all day, every day from Wednesday, March 18 through Saturday, March 21. And we know you already had planned to be there regardless, you were just waiting to hear where it is and who would be there. Well, now you know. This year we'll be holing up at a new Fort, on 1101 E. 5th Street (between San Marcos & Waller), and the only way to get in [...]

Well hello there! Glad you could stop by! I know, it has been awhile since our last robotic outing, but I promise not to disappoint. First, let me say that this list took a lot longer to put together than the last list. It is extremely hard to find music ...

Ryan(StopMe): My ' Top 100 Tracks Of 2008 ' nears completion but I've still managed to find ten fresh sounds to christen the new year: 'Nothing Too Much Just Out Of Sight' is a howling Blues hurricane from Paul McCartney & Youth under their The Fireman moniker. Macca sounds more like Screamin' Jay Hawkins than his usual naff self-parodying vocals that've featured on his latter solo albums. He's clearly letting go of some serious anger, wonder what could've brought that about? [...]
Forget about BBC's Sound of 2009 (although that'll make for a great read next week), this is where it's all happening. These are the acts you need to hear in 2009. Well, this is what I think anyway... (they're in alphabetical order, so no-one is above another) Broken Records Broken Records are a Scottish band that are miles better than Glasvegas, if only because they've a cello, violin, trombone and mandolin. Yet they remain a rock band. Oh and someone has called them the Scottish Arcade Fire. Not a bad comparison. Glorious. I cannot [...]

From The New Deal mixtape. Kanye West - Paranoid Remix ft. Big Sean and Mr. Hudson. PigeonsandPlanes

It is incredible that Mr Hudson has gone from headlining libraries spring 2007...to supporting Kanye West...to signing to his label...to featuring on his album...to co-producing on his album!! incredible! Mr Hudson (and the library-there is some confusion as to whether they are going to be credited on his next album or what? they still play live with him) have such a crazy unique indescribable sound ( read this guardian article from march 07 ). Anywho, the Kanye connection has had a clearly huge influence on his new single, there will be tears. Hudson is on the vocoder and the song [...]

Hey, guys. So I hope everyone is having a good time on the long weekend. I have been given some days off from the hellhole known as school, so I've decided to use what could be endless hours of eating, video-chatting and watching movies and turn it into... all that, PLUS some blogging for Hot Bizzies (sounds like a busy weekend, right?). Also, because I am the only Kanye fan (as many of you know, I switch from a fan of Kans to a hater every 5 seconds) who writes for this blog, I decided to do some investigation re: [...]

Heard this guy for the second time today. It's a pretty fresh sound, so I'm hesitant to make a comparison, but I'll do it anyway... British auto-tuned Postal Service. There's definitely more to it, but that's what I got out of the first listen. Word on the street(internets) is this guy is gonna be big in The States and Kanye West is a fan (Mr. Hudson is featured on the new Kanye track "Paranoid" on 808s ). Thanks to EastOfLA. Mr.Hudson - There Will Be Tears [...]

While it's often unwise to judge a record by its artwork, there is no better image for Kanye West 's latest release, 808s and Heartbreaks , than a sole deflated heartshaped balloon against a gray background. From the first ambient yet downtrodden seconds of opener "Say You Will", sprinkled with low tone beeps and boops, a fairly depressed Kanye singing, "Can't waste no time / She might leave soon... / I admit, I still fantasize about you." The track features heavy backing vocals at the end, muted beneath the continuous boops, that really captures a sense of longing [...]

Today marks the release of Kanye West's fourth full length album, entitled 808s and Heartbreak , and I have enough of an indie music spidey-sense to recognize that lame alt kids across the world will fully embrace Kanye's most recent effort, regardless of how terrible it is. Listening to this album breaks my heart :( Did I mention it's terrible? The album was produced entirely by West himself, with a bit of help from No I.D, in only 2 weeks. [...]

Mr. Hudson - A London bred producer and vocalist is Killin and beginning to emerge into the American market. Be on the look out, I think it will be interesting to see how he is able to cross over. With a cosign from Mr.West, I think he'll be Good... Kanye recently signed Hudson to the GOOD music imprint and will feature Hudson on the Glow in the Dark tour : Europe. Listening to his style I am beginning to see where Kanye pulled a lot of his inspiration for " 808's and Heartbreak "... Not to take anything away from Kanye, [...]
When Kanye's Paranoid leaked last week Kid Cudi was credited on the chorus which was weird because it didn't sound like him. Now the full album has appeared and it seems the real guest is London's Mr Hudson. So "the black Phil Collins" is singing with a dude we once called 'the new Sting'. 80s overload! Mr Hudson is now signed to Kanye's Good Music label and this snippet of his next single suggests he has abandoned cod-reggae plonkathons in favour of autotune and coked-out electronics...

"heartbreak hotel" SONG OF THE WEEK: Kanye West ft. Mr.Hudson - Paranoid words: Jamie Milton Kanye caught a good fish when he chose Mr.Hudson and his band of library-lovers to support him on his latest UK tour. Turns out they've developed a musical partnership over time and have joined arms for a track on the much-talked-about '808's and Heartbreaks' album that has surprisingly surpassed all expectations I originally had. It's a record that avoids lenghty samples from other artists, a consistent use of a vocoder (something [...]

Designer Drugs in Montreal were amazing, and they are playing two shows in New York soon (check their myspace for info). Its gonna be great and I hope to see you there. I'd like share a new remix of theirs, the vocals are fun and go well with the grinding electro bass sound that D.D. do so well. Heaven - Hail Social (Designer Drugs remix) Next we got a preview of Ocelot who will probably be the subject of a more extensive later [...]

Do turtles eat ocelots? Dude looks hungry. Or affectionate. I'm not sure which... Do turtles love ocelots? An interesting choice for the Ocelot boys' latest remix, it's not exactly the kind of track you hear and think, "this would go awesome in a club with some cut-up vocals and distorted bass." Somehow, of course, they make it work wonderfully, winning me over despite the fact that I think the original is an absolutely perfect song as it is. More straight-forward and club-friendly than the DLake remix before it, this is definitely "it's-almost-dawn-but-we're-st ill-dancing" material. [...]

Wow, two posts in one day. For someone who generally post 10 times a month, that's something of a rarity. But y'know, with my recent good news regarding exam results (see previous post ), I feel I've had a weight litfed from my shoulders and with it, a new found zeal. If I told you I loved Ocelot , would you be surprised. Well you shouldn't be. Their superb remixes that somehow manage to induce spontaneous waves of euphoria every time I listen are, at times of hardship, the highlight of my day. They sum it [...]
