We have already given accolades to Mr. Little Jeans with her debut single, "Rescue Me", which went on to be featured in Honda commercials Now Monica has released a cover of Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs". She adds a haunting, electronic touch to an already pretty depressing song. Check it out.

Mr. Little Jeans - The Suburbs (Arcade Fire cover) Hey look I'm posting about another female vocalist! Mr. Little Jeans is clearly not a man wearing tiny pants, the unique alias comes from a character in the movie Rushmore (10 points to anyone who knew that). Her real name is Monica Birkenes and she is a Norwegian singer previously based in London, currently working on her debut album in Los Angeles. Mr. Little Jeans' cover of Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs" gives the song a whole new electro synthy dark vibe and I'm really feeling it. Covers [...]

Mr. Little Jeans , takes on Arcade Fire 's "The Suburbs" with her own version of this modern classic. She is currently working on her debut, the 'Angel EP' on the 7th June also stream The Naked and Famous' Remix of Mr Little Jean's below via TNAF - Rescue Song (Mr Little Jeans)

Another pretty, talented Scandinavian songstress - I guess by now we just shouldn't be surprised anymore! Arcade Fire are awesome and "The Suburbs" was a standout track from, err, The Suburbs . Mr. Little Jeans (who is definitely female) slows the song down, smooths off the edges and gives us her eerie, haunting take on a great song. What do you think of this cover? Mr. Little Jeans - The Suburbs (Arcade Fire Cover) ( RCRDLBL )

The Norwegian Monica Birkenes is Mr. Little Jeans . She took her name from a character in Wes Anderson 's film Rushmore , which is about an eccentric teenage schoolboy falling in love with his teacher. Her vocals are soft, sultry, deep but at the same time poppy enough to grab the attention of the mass. Her depute album will be released sometime in the end of this year. But til then you can enjoy her EP and some other tracks. This one is a very interesting cover of Arcade Fire's Suburbs . Check it out! [...]
The process of recreation and reappropriation is always fascinating within artistic realms. Rather than didacticize and get 'meta' on your ass, I'm going to drop a pair of my recent favorites on you. Here is Amanda's fave new diva Mr. Little Jeans with her gorgeous, synth-dirge take on Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs", and Joywave constructing "Betelgeuse" out [Read Full Post...]
I realize that between this and all the Craft Spells I've been posting it's been a lot of airy atmospheric music round here but hey these are tough times, perfect for sleepwalking music. Mr. Little Jeans: Rescue Song RAC Remix.mp3 Honda already got dey hands on Monica Birkenes .

April is here and, as of yesterday, spring is fully upon us in here in the Nation's capital. Let's ignore today's depressing rainy weather and pretend like this came out yesterday, when the Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom, the sun was out, and temperatures jumped into the 80s. I broke out the flip flops and shorts to class, and it was that time of year when you beg your professors to let you have class outside, even though they know it will lead to a complete lack of productivity. This time of year triggers a change in [...]
I corralled three of 'em for you. Hey let's all go do some weird psychedelics and whirl like dervishes in tribal jewelry around a campfire. Afterwards, we can collapse in a heap on the desert ground and look at patterns in the stars. And maybe make out. Okay guys? It'll be like a rite of spring [Read Full Post...]
The Naked & Famous are responsible for one of my favorite albums last year in Passive Me, Aggressive You. Their debut is filled with esay-going, catchy melodies from the Australian band; if you can get your hands on it it's undoubtedly worth picking up. Anyways, they just recently released this remix of Mr. Little Jeans' "Rescue Song", and it's got a laid back vibe that's sitting well with me at the moment. Hit play below and add it to your libraries. Download: The Naked & Famous - Rescue Song (Remix)

Our favorite remixers in the game, RAC , have been killing it since, like, forever, with flawless remixes of Mr. Little Jeans , Ra Ra Riot , Edward Sharpe , Penguin Prison , and many many others . The production duo recently dropped their second album, RAC Vol 2 , last Friday, March 4th (my birthday). What a birthday gift it was too, with inspired retakes on some seriously buzzworthy bands, including Phoenix, Suckers, Surfer Blood, and Washed Out. The standout track, however, is clearly [...]
It's time for another edition of Commercial Watch , where I again highlight some of the hippest, indiest songs that are out there soundtracking commercials for cars, mobile phones, chewing gums and national football leagues. Since I know all of you are the Hulu / DVR / next-day-on-youtube type, here's a few of the best tunes that the modern day Don Drapers and Peggy Olsons have been digging up. The commercials are embedded below with MP3s included. Make sure to click the continue reading link to double the pleasure, double the fun, and uh... see the full post. [...]

Valentine's Day is here again folks. I'd go into details about my own personal life and experiences on this special day, but honestly that's both boring and useless; you're here for the music. I'm happy to oblige with our sixth installment of the Valentine's Day Mixtape, the oldest tradition we have here at ATG. This year, I've tried to lean more towards newer stuff, since in past years these mixes have relied heavily on Sam Cooke, The Rolling Stones, etc.. As usual, the mixtape is available as a .zip file or as individual tracks below, and this year I have [...]

Happy New Year. Welcome back to Breaking More Waves 2011 after our short break, or if this is your first visit, hello it's lovely to meet you. This is the first of two posts today, the other which will appear in a short while concerns the annual UK Blogger Album of the Year poll run by the excellent Sweeping The Nation blog. New Year is a time for resolutions to be made and changes to be implemented. This includes Breaking More [...]
As is the custom in the indie rock universe in this coming second decade of the 21st century, it is not simply enough to know about something, you must know about it first. Furthermore, you must make outlandish predictions regarding the future success of said thing. In this case, it is music. In this case, it is 2011 and our predictions for the bands and artists who will be taking off wildly in

Mr. Little Jeans / Friendly Fires Oops, I'm a couple of days late. Well, I'll blame it on being at home and having all the standard christmas household chores distracting me. Anyway, a couple of absolutely great ones for you this week. First up is a delightful remix by RAC. The original is by Mr. Little Jeans, a Norwegian singer/songwriter based in London. The song has got a throbbing, melodic bassline that carries on through almost the entire song and a really good vocal. It's difficult to find out much [...]
30. Wolf Parade - "Ghost Pressure" Wolf Parade released perhaps their last and perhaps their best record, 2010's Expo 86. Lovers of the Apologies-era Wolf Parade found something in this smoother, darker version of the band. On "Ghost Pressure," haunting, frozen synths dance around the ceiling like spectres before a playful, upstroke chorus implies that this paranormal activity might not be all
