It was sweaty times at The Troubadour for the highly-anticipated Hot Snakes' show. The reunited post-hardcore group got down to business and gave the diehards exactly what they craved, including two encores. Fellow Swami Records' bands Spider Fever and Mrs. Magician opened. By Chris Gedos Mrs. Magician's Strange Heaven LP is a great surf-rock offering for those waiting for the weather to break in colder climes. The previously posted "There Is No God" is still the centerpiece, but there's six or seven tracks which will make solid secondary singles, one of which is "The Spells", a lazy 21st C. "Doctor Robert" + "Love Potion #9". Mrs. Magician isn't really a hit-you-with-the-first-lick sort of band; their advanced lyricism and understated instrumentation (no solo battles here) [...]

San Diego-based rock and roll group Mrs. Magician will be playing three shows in San Francisco at the end of the month and in early April, promoting their new album Strange Heaven , which is already available digitally and will be released physically on April 17th through Swami Records .
