Hamilton College band Mugen is the brainchild of one Liam Frost. Their introduction to us comes via their infectious single “Sparks”. Using Passion Pit-esque euphoric synths to light up the sky, the delicate layered vocals keep us humbled on the ground. Also, adding slight classical infuences into the mix, this sprightly gem gives more than enough reasons to be hopeful of the next generation of synth-pop acts ready to let loose. Download below. Stream their entire Sparks EP on Soundcloud .
Photography: Yingzi It sounds a bit hazy, but Mugen 's "Always" is a very likable indie electronic song anyway. Mugen - Always
Two tracks from Lulu Rouge's interpretation of Gil Scott Heron during the Copenhagen Jazz Festival a month ago. Like the last two years where they have interpreted Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, they have created their own universe and takes you into the Lulu land of Dub and Electonica Enjoy the sun and the music. Melbourne dj producer Mu-Gen has an interesting mix of industrial hip hop an dubstep beats on his cloud. Something quite ear-catching is his bootleg of Odd Future's "Drop" vs Rich Boy's "Drop", enhanced with some additional percussive elements. Hypnotizing. > MU-GEN FACEBOOK DOWNLOAD | OFWGKTA vs Rich Boy - Drop (Mu-Gen remix) Posted by Celebrity Sex Tape.

In case you weren't already familiar, as I wasn't until some BLAP friends told me about it at Coachella, I would like to introduce you to a new genre of electronic dance music: Moombahton (pronounced moom-buh-tone), generally defined as Dutch house music slowed down to 108 beats per minute--which is in the range of reggaeton's tempo. Moombahton was created in the Fall of 2009 by American DJ/producer Dave Nada while playing at his cousin's high school skipping party --which is when someone throws a house party in the middle of the [...]

Ok, so after a brief hiatus from throwing parties we're back and what better way to kick off 2011 than with a show featuring the infamous Oneman . You can't have any interest in UK club music without knowing who this guy is, his sets are legendary and his radio show on Rinse has broken more underground hits than could nerd out to in one lifetime (Call him the Stretch Armstrong of UK funky). If that wasn't enough to wetty wet your apatite then I'll have [...]

the generic boys have been busy beavers hosting parties left right and centre here in sydney over the past few months hosting some of the freshest names in dance music, with rory phillips and french fries under their belts we see the generic boys host the exclusive scattermusic soundsystem party in sydney at none other than the local adult disco haunt the civic underground. So i've been pretty quiet on the the blog front for awhile but i've got a good excuse, i swear! Over the past couple of months i've been working hard organising our first Scattermusic soundsystem east coast tour of Australia and after waiting for so long i can finally i can announce all the dates. Pretty much the four of us are getting together ( Mat Cant , Mu-Gen , Lewis Cancut & Scattermish ) along with our VJ Jean Poole and photographer The Cheap Assassin and hiring a Van [...]
Here we go, this is the real deal. We've all been super exited about this release here at the Scattermusic HQ for some time, from first hearing the hype and heavy original, to then having three amazing remixes come back from our extended family. Perhaps more than any of our previous releases, this baby sums up where our sound is at right now as a bunch of certified music nerds. Check the official press spiel below. From the inner reaches of Scattermusic comes Mu-Gen, with his own distinctive brand of warped, percussive, distorted and slightly mad club music. [...]

From the inner reaches of melburne comes Mu-Gen with his own distinctive brand of warped, percussive, distorted and slightly mad club music. After playing a pivotal role in the Melbourne’s music scene for the last fifteen years, playing festivals, touring abroad, running club nights and contributing to numerous side projects, Fizzdom represents his first and well overdue solo release. The result, an unruly beast where marching snares collide with fragments of dancehall toast’s, non-regulation lasers, mile-deep kick drums and atmospheric disturbances. Fizzdom is a lethal club weapon, bound for packed and sweaty dance floors around the globe having already [...]
New York native, and Texas-based DJ/Producer Dubbel Dutch follows up his widely successful EP "Throw Back", with a new mix, chock-full of all the UK Funky/House/New Garage/ you could ask... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

It's pretty close to release time (27th July) for my Fizzdom joint so i thought i would start the promo train and share a mix i did a bit over a month ago now. At the time of making this i was really getting down to futuristic dark club music, stuff that sounds like it was made for ravers in 2020. Drums, deep bass and dark synth lines from start to finish are not my usual style, but this mix and the fizzdom release signifies a turning point in my sound i would say. I wasn't really concerned [...]

Enjoy Mu-Gen - [...]

........... To say that I have a slight obsession with Moombahton would be like totally right. Initially the story on how moombahton founder Dave Nada started the whole thing at some underage Latino skipping party got me curious, but after digging deeper into the tunes and bumping them on dance floors I have fallen in love. Before my life as a club music dj I was pretty hard out into hip hop and turntableism which makes moombahton feel just right for me. Lewis once said to me after hearing some [...]

Well we just produced our own festival last week with the full help and support of the Espy. Now its time to rock someone elses. So chuffed about this one. Scatterblog Soundsytem has just been asked to headline the dj's on the sat night at pretty much our favourite music festival in the country.
