Sometimes, a happy mixtape is essential. I made this one for a friend who is having a rotten day. You should download it even if you're not necessarily down in the dumps; after all, there's no such thing as being too happy. [DOWNLOAD IT] Mumm-Ra - She's Got You High

And why not? This might be the best idea yet :) I kind of missed the recap - especially since I've been showcasing really nice songs as of late. I'm not posting the songs here though, too much effort - so it'd be best to visit the site everyday if you want a link for a download (if you don't know it yet, yer lyric of the day songs up top on the right side there can be downloaded by a simple right-click and Save As). If you missed hearing the song though, our dear old Facebook page [...]
by chuck bell It is hard to ignore the irony in writing a Dead Bands profile on a group that took their name from the Thundercats villain, "Mumm-Ra the Everliving." Despite the immortality that their name implied, after nearly eight years of playing together, Mumm-Ra decided to call it quits. Although they had been gaining popularity in the UK over the last few years of their existence, they broke up just before they were able to break out in the United States. [...]
It's the start of another year and won't you believe, it also marks a year of the Friday's lists. I started out my first ever list with New Year's songs which I think is still the best list of indie songs about the New Year out there ;) I really didn't think I could go on this long though - not with my Friday's list being bumped to Saturday, or Sunday even. I should've scratched doing it every week, since I never really did it on time - but then for some weird reason I just kept on [...]

It's the first on the month, so cash your checks and get up." - Bone Thugs Aside from the usual check cashing and up getting, the first of the month is always exciting for us because it means a new version of Steph Lund's Le Miel du Mois premiere's on E.M.P.T. Since it's inception back in May Le Miel du Mois has been downloaded over 800 times, and that's not counting the nearly month long shut down we had to overcome. This popular mixtape displays a broad yet refined taste [...]
I could never get into the Thundercats . I had a friend named "Kitsune" (his choosing) who was obsessed with them, but I guess the appeal just went over my head. But, through this friend, I had had enough exposure to recognize the name of the deliciously malicious, malevolent devil "Mumm-Ra, the Ever Living," evil villain from said show. Except this recognition occurred during the closing credits song roll of my latest obsession, "(500) Days of Summer." The sadly now-defunct, English band Mumm-Ra only ever released one LP, prophetically titled "These Things Move In Threes" [...]
Quick one today. I've been meaning to post about all these songs for a very long time, so I've decided just to do it all in one catch-up post. Enjoy. She's Got You High - Mumm-Ra [mp3] (iTunes) : This one comes from the indie darling smash film of the summer, 500 Days of Summer. So Insane - Discovery [mp3] (iTunes) : Inventive rhythm, crazy modern-80s feel with an almost Girl Talk edge.

Tonight we take a trip up to the Leadmill in Sheffield to see the promising new band 'White Lies'. They sound excellent, early Killers with a touch of Editors in there. So I couldn't really pass that one up. We arrive early to find that the gig is in the Leadmill's cosy backroom, nice and intimate. We catch some of the set by the Post War Years. Hailing from Leamington Spa, they produce a nice mish-mash of pop, rock and electro. Lots of keyboards and the like but with some rocking guitar riffs added in, and a touch [...]

2008 - The Year of the Split? words: Jamie Milton Two weeks or so ago, Nottingham's I Was A Cub Scout announced their slightly unexpected split. One would usually expect a two-piece band to last their time, to stick things out and wait and see if the sun shines brighter, to attend every practice, to avoid getting on eachother's nerves. But they, like many other bands in recent weeks, announced their split in a brief myspace post, thanking their fans but not getting into the gory detail of why they [...]

"Are you trying to say that you'd rather decay than believe?" By way of Bexhill On Sea, England comes the (fairly) new splendid little melodic-pop outfit Mumm-Ra . Their debut album, These Things Move In Threes , has been intentionally lodged in my car stereo for the past few weeks...and it elicits the same reaction from me every time. It's a fantastic 11 track collection. I've included my favorite cut, "Now Or Never", as well as the recent single "Out Of The Question." [...]

The Pop Cop never used to believe you really could have too much of a good thing but the sheer number of sharp new bands we've been listening to in 2007 often makes us wonder how we find time to empty the bins. In previous years These Things Move In Threes, the wonderfully slick debut album from MUMM-RA , would have been as familiar to us as a knife and fork; the East Sussex group have key changes in all the right [...]
Just been watching Glastonbury on the TV and stumbled on Mumm-ra (great web site). The lead singer is a bit irritating but I can't help really liking the music. 'What would Steve do?' was the first track I heard. Great song. MummRa - Out Of The Question Mumm-Ra: What Would Steve Do? (Video)
The Saturday round-up of all things good in the Indie world. Our top tracks of the week. If you think "Hey, this sounds good, I'd like to own a copy of this!" whilst listening to any of the tracks, then just click on the album cover :) Happy listening. Mumm-Ra Why on earth this band aren't massive around the Blogosphere yet is beyond me. They are precisely the sort of band that you will want to [...]
I love this band! Their debut album "These things move in threes" is out on the 28th of may, and they've got a new single out just now on iTunes. Mumm-Ra has been getting quite a lot of buzz in the UK lately, and it's well deserved. They are from Bexhill on Sea in England and play highly melodic and powerful pop that could reach out to more people than the common indie audience. Want to know
