Lately, there have been a lot of posts about older music, and it's time we posted some fresh tunes. Sometimes, there are so many new tunes floating around, it's easier to resort to an older, hard-to-find song, and feel secure about posting something worth while . Other times, we can seek help from Australia. We can't get away from the consistent heat pumping out of Australia. Surprise, another Modular artist. If it's not broken, why fix it? "My People" came out in December of 2007, and yes, it's been [...]
Back from holidays, and ready to catch up on 20 days of blog music and news I've missed out on... but tonight of course, is a night to celebrate being back... Party!!! Don't expect too much from me atm, cause you probably know more then I do. In the brief amount of time I've been home I've managed to find two pieces of news, however old they are, that both shocked me. 1. Chemicals & Muscles? Apparently Australian Muscles is supporting the Chemical Brothers on this leg of their tour. [...]

In the mood for loving today [being Valentine's Day and all] i thought I'd share with you a little secret crush I've got a the moment. Shazam The kid's from Perth, and looks about my age or younger... yet has the uncanny ability to produce some of the dandiest, most superhuman material I've heard in a long time. I propose Shazam and Stereheroes team up [...]

It is that time of the month again but thankfully there will be no bitching in this cycle. It is time for the next installment of A Derogatory Playlist!. The songs below stretch over a longer time period then my last few playlists as I have taken a little longer this month to get through enough songs that I am happy with. The playlist runs through a few different styles of music from disco, to pop, to house, to rock but all with electro mixed throughout. [...]

much like the saxophone trend that happend last year, it looks like there could be a new trend popping up in 08, or an old trend revisted from some other remix era when i was still listening to rock. i have been slowly collecting 'remixes' that are essentially the same songs with a slightly better beat and female vocals instead of the original males. below are three different examples, the best being the dragonette one by far. don't forget tonight is the totally amazing treasure fingers w/ jo [...]

With this track the DFA veteran, The Juan Maclean, provides a better route to innervating your eccrine glands. Instead of working you out like Muscles he plops you on the dance floor until you're sweaty from head to toe with his extended version. This release doesn't seem fitting for most of the world since it is probably the coldest time of the year. But, here in Santo Domingo it is scorching during the day. I can't imagine what summers are going to be like. For everybody else: play this track to get out of the cold. [...]
Muscles - Marshmallow from the 2007 album Guns Babes Lemonade on Modular. Originally from KEXP Song of the Day on December 31, 1969, 4:59pm

Bigs ups to the Basstown crew for an awesome weekend in Boston. Music was spot on, every one was friendly as hell and the Boston kids were dancing their asses off everywhere I looked. So, to celebrate in true Resonator Fasion, here's pretty much my whole set from Saturday in remix format. Enur Ft Natasha - "Calabria 2007 (Hatchmatik Clubabria Remix)" Links: Hatchmatik | Enur | More by Hatchmatik I've loved this track since I first heard it and, given the style [...]

Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Today’s featured selection, chosen by Midday Show host Cheryl Waters, is Marshmallow by Muscles from the 2007 album Guns Babes Lemonade on Modular . Muscles - Marshmallow ( MP3 ) Muscles is a one-man band from Melbourne that shot straight to the [...]

Muscles is set to release his next single 'Sweaty' with remixes by both Shazam and The Juan Maclean . I can't tell you how much I love love love this Shazam remix. This producer from Perth politely swapped Muscles' husky vocals for the energetic and the hair-around-the-finger-twirlin g innocent (yet ironically singing about getting sweaty) vocals of one of his friends. Apparently this was her first time doing anything like this. Debuting your vocals on a Muscles/Modular single aint a bad way to start off.... The digital release is in February [...]
The first time I heard Muscles on KEXP, I practically spit my coffee out laughing, as the singer seemed to be chanting "Peace Love Ecstasy Unity Respect" with no trace of irony whatsoever, and I'm sorry, but that shit just...

Adele - Chasing Pavements A truly gorgeous song, soul and pop melted into one. Adele's music has been getting a lot of attention on the web lately, which is easily understandable once you listen to "Chasing Pavements". If you're missing Amy Winehouse now that's she's in rehab, let Adele fill the void. And beyond. Muscles - Jerk This Aussie may or may not be crazy, but that's probably what makes him so great. The music itself is infectious electronic dance, layered with singing that may not [...]

I have to thank the ever reliable (and reliably left-field) Monsieur P for pointing me in the direction of Aussie up and comers Christopher Robin [MySpace], two lads from Brisbane doing a fine line in acid-tinged, melody heavy electro pop. They seemed to pick up a bit of blog-love throughout last year with their frankly bitching remix of Muscles' ubiquitous 'One Inch Badge Pin', a track which probably gives one a fair indication of what their reputedly off-the-charts live shows might be like. But now they've emitted a digital download demo, which is available for FREE [...]

It may seem as though we've been slipping into slow dormancy over the past few weeks here at AiMT. Here's my first of three excuses. I'll get around to posting the other two (singles and albums lists) sooner or later. All in good time… These lists are by far the biggest features I've ever written/compiled on this site or any other. Seriously. There are approximately 800 billion lines of html code for each list. Shit is insane. So please forgive my lack of posts in the past few weeks. After I get these lists [...]
