One of my favorite YouTube channels right now is easily 5-Second Films . Thought there is a limit on time in the project's videos, there's no limit on hilarity. Was that corny enough? It's a sunny but cold winter's day, typical for this time of year. From my den perch, I can see the brown leaves barely fluttering so the day is a calm one. It is so cold (how cold is it?) that my computer has been freezing on me, and the air turns blue when it does. It has been a struggle this morning to get up and running. If the groundhog lived in these parts, he wouldn't have seen his shadow today. He'd have seen a sky filled with light gray clouds which cast no shadow. The day is warm by winter's usual standards. It's 49°, but there is a little breeze which makes the day feel colder. On days like today I'd love a jacket like the ones I had as a kid. Today will be a short post as I have to go to Boston. In days of yore, I used to go to Boston fairly often and never minded the trip. I'd meet friends, see a play, go out to dinner or shop. The wind is blowing, and it's pouring rain. My computer decided it wanted to ignore me so it froze several times. I cursed each time and screamed in frustration once. A mighty rain fell all night and pounded the roof. It was a sweet sound to me, and I easily fell asleep. This morning when I went out to get the papers, I saw the snow was just about gone. When I woke up, I thought it was raining. I could hear drops falling to the deck from the roof, but when I came downstairs, I saw it wasn't rain at all. It was the sound of snow melting from the eaves and the roof. It is 42° and will stay warm for the next few days. We are back in the middle of our strange winter. About 8 or 9 inches of snow fell yesterday. The stuff is pretty, no question about it, but pretty never lasts long enough. I got plowed out last night by my factotum but a bit more fell, mostly from the ocean effect. Because it was warmer earlier this morning, the new snow melted off the walkway, the car windshield and the roof. Icicles now hang off the roof edge. They look like teeth needing orthodontia.
