Will Magid gives us a clear look into his electro-soul future funk mind.
Yesterday was a delight. Though it was a bit chilly, the sun shined all day. I left my self-imposed hibernation and went outside to do some yard work and Gracie came with me. When I'd finished, I stood on the deck for a while and watched Gracie try to figure out how to carry a slightly deflated basketball in her mouth. She managed and ran around the yard in triumph. I did a laundry, changed my bed and the cat litter, filled the feeders and went on an errand. It was an industrious day all brought about because of the [...]
The morning started poorly. First was a call at 8:15 which woke me up. I didn't answer, and the party didn't leave a message. No self-respecting person calls before nine. Ann Landers would have been horrified. Luckily, I fell back to sleep, woke up close to ten, leapt out of bed, washed face, brushed teeth, got dressed and left, before morning coffee, to a fasting blood test. I mumbled and groused the whole way. Afterwards, I got coffee at Dunkin' Donuts and treated myself to a lemon donut then came home and read the papers. That brings us to now. [...]
Yesterday afternoon the sun came out then went right back behind a cloud. A bit later it did the same thing. Finally the sun reappeared behind another cloud and stayed a while. I could see that strangely familiar bright round orb. My imagination went rampant at its appearance. I imagined riots across the world as people ran from the bright light, all of them absolutely fearful of the unknown. I checked the weather in the paper today, and it will be cloudy the whole week. I suppose Pollyanna would say, "At least it isn't snow." I am a [...]

Guess what. If your submission mentions the producer Mike "Spike" Stent, it's going to grab my attention. Never heard of the guy, you say? You may not know the name, but I guarantee that you've heard some of his work: Keane, Muse, Coldplay, and Arcade Fire... do I need to go on? Sheare's upcoming EP has been executive produced and mixed by Spike Stent, and no surprise really, it's filled with grandiose, soul tugging songs. The video for Sheare's single, "Somebody Else", is a great starting point to get yourself acquainted with the musician's sound. The visuals take you on [...]
Did you hear that? It was a howl sounding like the scream of a wild animal out of control, but it was no animal. I am that screamer. It is all because today is cloudy. Oh, gee, a cloudy day? I suppose, like a Pollyanna, I should find the sunny side. There is no snow. There it is, the only bright spot in the whole day. Yesterday I did some errands, oiled some furniture, washed and dried a load of laundry and swept the kitchen floor. All of them were mindless activities meant to help the day pass [...]
So, my sister gave me a hand with this one. But we were both tired and sugared up and kind of loopy. It definitely makes for a very interesting countdown, to say the least! But I know that many of you have said that you like hearing me punchy and this is not only me punchy but also my sister punchy and us egging eachother on and all of that. So you'll almost certainly LOVE it! Countdown #143 ***Featuring*** Atlas Genius The Black Keys fun. Imagine Dragons The Lumineers Mumford & Sons [...]
Enough! Enough! I have endured too many sunless days. Today is cold and cloudy. I can deal with cold, but I'm sick and tired of cloudy. That last storm with its snow, rain, slush and wild wind was just a walk in the park on a nasty day, more like nasty days as the storm lasted close to three days. Nobody complained. Most people just shrugged. That's the way it's been. I am, however, out of shrugs. I'm complaining. Give me some sun! When I lived in Ghana, we went months without rain during the dry season. The [...]
Earliest I sloshed my way to the mailbox and then to the driveway to get the papers. My road is slush covered. Tire marks show the route of my paper delivery, and when I got inside, I could see my footprints. It is lightly snowing, slanted and from the northeast, but I can also hear drips on the deck from the roof. The weather for today is rainy and cold with temperatures in the 302s. I just hope it stays above freezing. The wind was with us all night but has since pretty much disappeared. On the early news was [...]
The wind is howling and twisting and turning the pine branches which seem to bend enough to touch the ground. The rain began falling last night, and when I woke up, I could hear it on the roof and windows. As I'm writing, wet snow, slanted by the wind from the north, is beginning to fall, but it hasn't the look of permanence. The rain will be back, and the wind will howl all day into tomorrow. The wind is the sort which is the backbone of every tale told by the fire, tales of creatures who roam the [...]

It is, as my mother would have described it, a raw day, the sort where you feel chilled to the bone from the cold and damp. Right now there is a snow shower with small flakes being blown about by the wind. It won't amount to anything, but its mere existence is beyond the pale. "Too much, too much," I whine to no one but myself. The weather in today's Cape Times predicted the rest of the week much like today. Each day has the possibility of rain or snow showers. Saturday will be the first sunny day, [...]
The sky is so blue it defies description. The sun is shining brightly, but it's not enough. The day is still cold. A breeze, maybe even enough to be called a wind, is keeping the warmth at bay. Spring is always late to Cape Cod, and I know that wind which seems to blow most days is to blame. My garden has more buds and even has some flowers, but the pile of snow by the driveway has only melted a little. I think it's winter's way of reminding us that it still holds sway. Last night we [...]
A dismal, dark day is becoming the norm. No change in the weather until Tuesday at the earliest. It's cold: the temperature was 36˚ when I left for breakfast. I know March can be a raw, snowy month, but I'm hoping for something better. I saw a yellow bud in the garden this morning. I don't know what flower it will be, but I was excited to see color. My clothes today are blue and grey. Even I am drab. The feeders are empty, and I noticed the suet feeder must have fallen. I'll have to bundle up [...]
Yes, after weeks and weeks with not a lot of movement, we enter the first countdown of March with the scent of change on the air. Lots of movement this week. Some expected. Some unexpected, though now maybe it'll be expected because I said it was unexpected. I don't know how your mind works. Anything could happen. It's late, so I'm not going to make this a big humdinger of an introduction, but I hope you enjoy the episode! Countdown #142 ***Featuring*** Atlas Genius The Black [...]
Today I'll be at the MultiCultural Festival most of the day. We are having a Peace Corps table and taking turns passing out literature and answering any questions. The event opens with a parade of flags at 9:30, and I'll be there with the Ghanaian flag. All day long there will be performers from a variety of countries, an international cafe' and tables selling goods from other countries. I've been hankering for a bit of shopping, and this may be just the time. I have favorite countries and favorite places in other countries. Mind you, all of these [...]
Gracie and I finally made it to the dump yesterday morning then we went to Agway, a store which welcomes dogs on a leash. It was a perfect Gracie day. In the afternoon it rained a little, but in the late afternoon the sun made another attempt to break through but wasn't successful. I figure that unsuccessful bid was enough to keep the sun away a bit longer. Today's weather is like yesterday's and the day before that and on and on: cloudy with a chance of rain. The forecast does change a bit for tonight: cloudy with a chance [...]
