Matt Valentine and his partner, Erika Elder, who perform and record under the acronym MV & EE , experiment with a synesthesic kaleidoscope of Appalachian folk, Indian raga, and post-electronica. Their latest offering, "Too Far To See", is the latest single from their forthcoming album, Space Homestead , which arrives via Woodsist on May 15th. MV & EE play a off-kilter, weird brand of Americana that, more often than not, is eerie and reflective. This new taste from their new album is perhaps more plaintive, almost elegiac and builds up to some guitar histrionics than recall Neil Young in a most pleasing way. Cropped Out Fest not only succeeded in coming back a second time, a feat not easily accomplished, the stridently fringe festival also returned in bigger and better fashion - in terms of attendance, community enthusiasm, facilities, and that intangible festival vibe that can make or break a multi-stage weekend event.
