When I was 17 the sort of sounds that were being produced from my adolescent vocal chords would have made a deaf man beg for silence. Suffice to say I had discovered Oasis and the joys of being a 'singer' in an Indie-Rock band (come on, it was 2007, EVERYONE was in an Indie-Rock band). At 17 Holly, under the name Smoothiesforme, is creating wonderfully crafted songs (which are recorded and produced by herself), AND she's winning awards for it. In 2010 she made it to the finals of The Forth One To Watch award in Edinburgh, and then in June [...]

). O álbum tributo The Songs of Leonard Cohen Covered reuniu artistas como The Low Anthem , Cass [...]

Plus Palace Songs, Cass McCombs, Father John Misty, and others.

So in addition to Vimeo's still ongoing "Old Ideas With New Friends" series , which has already seen Bradford Cox , Cold War Kids , Cults , and The Afghan Whig's Greg Dulli cover tracks from the great Leonard Cohen, there's also a covers album of Cohen's 1967 debut that comes included in the new issue of MOJO magazine. Contributing artists included Bill Callahan, Cass McCombs, The Low Anthem, Field Music, and ex-Fleet Fox'er Father John Misty , as well as Marc Ribot and My Brighest Diamond, who teamed up for a bonus track version of "Bird on [...]

This week in NYC live music, we've got some interesting shows for the NY Guitar Festival, a two-night stand by Umphrey's McGee, the 12th annual Freaks Ball kicks off this weekend with two shows at Brooklyn Bowl, and lots of standout indie rockers hit the stage. Here are the highlights as I see 'em... My [...]

My Brightest Diamond - Everything Is In Line "Et si la carrière de Shara Worden était une question d'entourage ?"
My Brightest Diamond | I Have Never Loved Someone | A Take Away Show

Tweet vaso link If you haven't heard Mikaela Davis before, then you're in for a real treat. This harpist from Rochester is currently honing her craft at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music, an expansion to an impressive resume that includes starting the harp in 3rd grade and spending four years in the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. To simply describe Davis's sound, her voice is stunning and her musical talents are humbling. She occasionally returns to her hometown to grace us with a show, [...]
![[Introducing] – Teletextile](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3972808_lg.jpg)
Tweet It is a rare treat when a group like Teletextile falls into your lap, and you realize that you have been given the opportunity to share something truly special with others who are bound to be a bit *ahem* blown away. Despite being recorded in June of 2011, I consider this to be my first exciting discovery of 2012. I am bound to be putting some great tunes, such as "I Don't Know How To Act Here" on several mix CDs [...]
Singer/Songwriter Catherine A.D. Takes on My Brightest Diamond's 'I Have Never Loved Someone".
Here are my obtuse meanderings vis-a-vis the best records of the year. Please forgive my inanity. 11. Let's Wrestle – Nursing Home Nouveau '90s rock was to 2011 what dance punk revivalism was to 2001. And of all the bands channeling classic slackercore this year, Let's Wrestle did it the best. 10. Russian Circles – Empros I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of instrumental rock — particularly metal. After all, it usually involves more noodling than a Pauls [...]
It was an OK year. Nothing more, nothing less. Timber Timbre and their album "Creep On Creepin' On" was without a doubt, the album I've listened to and seen performed live the most all year. Taylor Kirk's dark, swampy sound speaks to me. As for the rest of my top 5, these albums will be listened by yours truly for years [...]
