Damnation Festival have announced the second band for their 2012 - gloomy gothic five-piece, My Dying Bride . This will be the first time the Bradford quintet have played Damnation since 2008. The band will be playing the Jägermeister Stage - the same stage they played to a capacity crowd in 2008. Damnation Festival will be the band's only non-London show in the UK for 2012, which gives Northerners and other non-capital dwelling Southerners even more reason to make the trek up to Leeds in November. We've been following Bereft withextreme excitement since they first announced their formation, under the name "Bewilderbiest," back in May of last year. Really, how could we NOT be stoked on the mere idea the group? The members' resumés read like a list of "Bands MetalSucks Thinks are Friggin' Sweet": any project featuring Sacha Dunable (Intronaut/Graviton/MetalSuc ks columnist), Charles Elliott [...]
1 cruise ship, 4 days, 42 bands, 2,000 fans! Yes, I had to do it again! 70,000 Tons of Meta l, 2012! I had such a great time last year that I had to go for a reprise and see what would happen! I've got a photo album here with many more photos, and this entry is the companion to my radio show, airing Thursday Feb 2nd at noon. When the archive is posted, it will be linked here . It's true, I had a lot of prior experience, so I had already been [...]
Congrats to readers Jason K. Zuehlke, Joshua Ray Jacobs, and Vaughn Fortier-Shultz; they each correctly identified last week's logo as belonging to the band Parasympathomimetic Thrombophlebitis. For ruling so hard, each of these fine men wins a copy of Crows Into Swine, the new solo album from ex-Scar Culture vocalist, Pheroze. Enjoy the album, dudes! [...]

It's the death metal album everyone's been waiting for. This is A Fragile King by Vallenfyre. Yeah, this is it. It's pretty darned good as well. Hooray! Not hooray.
Last week, one of the many, many press releases that was emailed over to us here at Thrash Hits was an announcement from Century Media that they'd signed a death metal band called Vallenfyre. "So far, so what?", right? We clicked on the link they gave us to the band's website, cast a cursory glance [...]
Rock morphed into indie rubbish, a classic band's nadir and some interesting symphonic music.
"Evinta. A project almost 15 years in the making. An idea that has sat smoldering and never really had a reason to burn alive until now. 9 albums worth of darkness recreated anew to mark 20 years of MDB. Music arranged to the soundscapes of sorrows past. Finally the 20th anniversary allows us to release ...
The second annual 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise is over six months away, but the lineup is already heating up. Just announced are four more bands added to the bill: Coroner, Amorphis, Moonsorrow and In Extremo. Of course the bands already announced are Eluveitie, Grave Digger, My Dying Bride, Pestilence, Stratovarius, Therion and Tristania. This ...
If you're unfamiliar with 70,000 Tons of Metal, it's pretty much the greatest thing on the planet. Over 5 days, over 2,000 metalheads hop on board a luxury cruise ship for the world's only metal fest on the open seas. Rob and his ragtag bunch of Injection staffers walked on board for the 2011 cruise, ...
Stream: Sailors With Wax Wings - S/TPyramids are great on their own, but their collaborations are stellar as well. We sung the highest praises about Pyramids and Nadja's collaboration album last year. Their first album came with a second disc featuring remixes from Blut Aus Nord, James Plotkin (Khanate, Khylst, O.L.D.), and Jesu, and more. They put out a 5-casette box set featuring collaborations
I was catching up on my Deciblog today when I came across the below video for "And Clash and Clash of Hoof and Heel," by Sailors with Wax Wings. The outfit is apparently a side-project for Pyramids' R. Loren, so I now have to admit that although our friend Corey Mitchell is a Pyramids fan, [...]
To celebrate World Goth Day, Tom Dare went and wrote this totally not definitive A to Z of Goth. After scouring the internet for photos of hot Goth girls (he found a lot), he decided to leave out the bit claiming that Goths only wear black condoms but don't hold it against him. At least [...]

So this was 2009.And what have you done?Another year over,And a new one just begun. What a year, what a year. The final year of the Aughts (or the Naughts, or the 00s, or the iDecade, or whatever we're calling 'em) saw both the return and demise of some old favorites, the introduction of some new classics, a few glimpses at greatness and enough desultory, bottom-dwelling, gutter-sucking
After a couple of weeks absence, our Sunday Spotify Slaylists are back - we're resuming our series of label tributes with another British indie label, Peaceville Records . Although the label was founded as an outlet for crust-punk, it was with the gloomy atmospheric doom-stylings of Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Anathema that the label found its true identity. Although out of those bands it is only My Dying Bride that remain with the label, Peaceville's roster has featured other heavyweight talents - most notably the [...]
