A band lost between a few decades, the Mystery Jets has recently released their fifth studio album (second under the Rough Trade Records label). Mystery Jets added a whole bunch of Americana to their sound on recent release, Radlands , and the video for “Greatest Hits” further illustrates the band’s new found infatuation with the States. There’s not many better ways to show your true patriotism than taking a girl out to the fair and showing her the time of her life. U.K. pop ensemble Mystery Jets have been a Next Big Thing for about four albums now, their 2006 debut "Making Dens" (released as "Zootime" by Dim Mak in the U.S.) earning a lot of attention, and their ensuing two albums of hooky ditties occasionally exhilarating, consistently witty but mostly merely amiable. For their fourth album "Radlands" (out this month on Rough Trade), they took up residence near Austin, Texas, but only some of the album sounds like it. The Mystery Jets' Radlands, released back in April, was a very pleasing listen. Our very own Catherine Hawkes, when summing it up, pondered that "the recording of Radlands in Texas has injected the band with a heavy influence of Americana to their beloved Anglo-pop sound, and you know what, they pull it of with applaudable ease."
