Brit-poppers Mystery Jets relocated from London to Austin, TX prior to recording Radlands . It was a reinvention of sorts—the band set up a recording studio in a country house on the Colorado River and singer Blaine Harrison explored the Southwest to gain inspiration for new songs. It’s a somewhat contrived way to create an album, and I deduced that before listening to Radlands . Perhaps I shouldn’t have. It’s strange how circumstance affects one’s perception, but Radlands feels like the same standard-fare pop Harrison has been peddling for years, only it’s [...]

Next week we'll be pulling Mystery Jets away from their North American tour with Keane for an extra special headlining set at U Hall . The four-piece have already proven themselves to be giants in the UK indie scene with incredible cuts like "Young Love," "Two Doors Down" and "Half In Love With Elizabeth," just to name a few. Those of you in need of a crash course in all things Mystery Jets should give a couple listens through 20082s Twenty One and its 2010 follow-up, Serotonin [...]
There’s a point on Radlands where Mystery Jets sing: “We’re as much a mystery to ourselves/ As anyone else.” It’s a self-inflicted identity crisis that would inevitably occur at some point, simply due to the nature of music they make. After three albums that have stuck to a sound that is highly susceptible to the law of diminishing returns, Mystery Jets’ attempt at a reinvention finds the band confused and unfocused. Despite their feeble attempt at a makeover, Mystery Jets have nothing to offer on Radlands that is worth getting excited over. The [...]

As alternative popsters go, you'd struggle to find someone more creative and unrestricted by genre than Santigold . Duke Dumont has a similar outlook on things, having started his career as an exponent of bass-laden booty house and since forging paths into techno, dark brooding electro and joyous disco. Such broad scope in The Duke's previous work means we never know quite what to expect from a new remix and this latest, a reimagining of Santigold's forthcoming single 'The Keepers', takes him in yet another new direction. On first listen, you'd be forgiven for thinking this [...]

Mystery Jets - Greatest Hits Now Playing – twice every week, a roundtable of our writers will give their views on some of the recently-released new tracks. It’s as simple as that! If you want to tell us what you think of the song, feel free to leave a comment below. Track: ‘Greatest Hits’ by the Mystery Jets Average grade: 6.5 Kenny: One of few recent British bands of [...]

For some reason, my phone refused to let me subscribe to the Great Escape text service, and without adequate O2 coverage, I hadn't had a chance in hell to load the official festival app. In hindsight, either of these may have informed me that the entire Island Records showcase at the Loft featuring Lower Than Atlantis , King Charles (my main interest in this stage, after Tom's hilarious phone interview with the man ) and Tribes had been cancelled. But as I learned over this weekend, [...]

Six years ago, I fell in love with this odd-ball band as I watched them live on-stage surrounded by a bizarre array of instruments (or just dustbin lids), comprising of such a misfit of members including a father and son who all hailed from this 'magical place' called Eel Pie Island. Over the years, I've seen this band time and time again playing a variety of small venues before eventually headlining Offset and Dot to Dot festival to similar sized crowds. And a just a couple of years ago, I last witnessed them playing to a half empty venue in [...]
The generous dudes over at Saint Motel sent us this track this morning, and I'm so glad they did. Some groups just have a knack for writing a simple pop tune that is able to rise above standards and find it's way into constant rotation in your musical life. The LA quartet is setting up to release their debut, Voyeur , some time this year, and I expect that it's going to fall somewhere in the vein of bands like Mystery Jets , carefully [...]

Got another new Mystery Jets jam to share with you all. “Greatest Hits” is a good-time acoustic led number, that is in great contrast to previously dramatic single, “Someone Purer”. I get scared anytime a greatest hits is attached to any artist, but luckily it appears as just interesting subject matter in the lyrics. Besides a Belle & Sebastian reference in the song, the song definitely appears to be influenced heavily by the duo. Radlands , is so close away, with the June 5th release date ever so soon.

Mystery Jets, the band consisting of Blaine Harrison, Will Rees, Kai Fish and Kapil Trivedi, have released a new single, "Greatest Hits", from their upcoming fourth album, Radlands , on June 5th. The new single follows their previously released single, " Someone Purer ". "Greatest Hits" has a great '60s pop rock sound to it. Don't be surprised if you hit repeat more than once. Listen to "Greatest Hits" below. Read more »

A música integrará o álbum Radlands [...]

Imagine having to split your beloved album collection with your partner if you were to split. Not nice to think about is it? Well Mystery Jets new single "Greatest Hits" visits that subject matter and it's the first track from their forthcoming album Radlands which is released in North America on the 5th of June via Truthpaste. Check it out below and look out for their album when it drops next month.

The Mystery Jets will have their 4th album Radlands hitting North America on June 5th. They are also set to tour with Keane in June and will be playing SLC, UT on June 26th, at The Gallivan Center. I do feel Mystery Jets have flown under the radar for sometime now especially here in the US. With a track such as 'Greatest Hits', the band give you a throwback sound that brings you back to earlier days. It is a fantastic song and one that I have had on repeat all day long, and one that [...]

The British band Mystery Jets are about to return with the new album called Radlands , and the first single, confusingly enough, is called "Greatest Hits." It's a bouncy acoustic jam that packs in a ton of shoutouts to the band's favorite albums, almost like a Britpop version of those early namedroppy Game tracks. Listen to it below. Read More...
