When I listen to things that i come in via the internets or that I pick-up myself in the store i look for a few things in a band's music. Firstly does if sound rings authentic in a way that I'll want to come back to it or does it just fall flat? Secondly does it have a freaking hit or a stand-out track. This was an excellent year for melodic rock and indie-alternative pop. I didn't have time to rank everything, but I did want to make another list for you, these are albums that I've enjoyed but I didn't have time to review. More overlooked gems will be reviewed this week. Amiee Mann -  Charmer . She's been making music since the 802s, and this LP is full of her articulate pop smarts, with a vocal as sweet as ever. Nada Surf certainly have had their fair share of ups and downs from major label success to being dropped and releasing their second album The Promoximity Effect on their own label. It wasn't until around 2002 when the guys joined Barsuk Records and released the critically acclaimed Let Go ( a personal favorite).
