After 14 months of recording Naomi Punk' s second full-length is ready to follow their self-titled debut from 2009. The Feeling will be out on April 23, via Couple Skate Records . Naomi Punk isn't just another typical Seattle punk-rock band, though their aim is to expand those parameters far past the outer limits and to revive the spirit and ethos of legends like This Mortal Coil, Nirvana and the Wipers. It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. These are just a few of the songs that would get their own individual posts here on GIMME TINNITUS if I only had the time. You can stream all the songs in this mix using the Yahoo media player at the bottom of the page OR if you are browsing with Chrome you can play (and scrobble ) the whole page using the ex.fm extension OR you [...]

A Cobain in the news , a young Washington band howling and riffing like discontented ghosts of grunge-is it really 2011? Naomi Punk blast rapturous riffs in their newest song "The Spell," riffs that surely resonate with the 90s and a sound immediately recognizable to the millenial generations's keen 'sixth sense of nostalgia'. Fortunately the Olympia, WA band pays influences with grace and innovation, bellowing and squalling their voices creating something that is both jarring and serene. In the email Naomi Punk sent to me containing their new song they mentioned that they are knowingly "off the internet grid (living [...]

Naomi Punk - The Spell Got a new track from Seattle's Naomi Punk from their new LP that is currently in the works. They are set to go on tour this September, stay posted for dates. Download Naomi Punk's single The Spell via bandcamp HERE.
They call it garage rock, and I can sort of see why. But Naomi Punk - about whom I know next to nothing - don't have the sense of urgency you might expect from that tag. This is laid back, slurring, overexposed garage rock. Fleeing is Believing is lo-fi in the best of ways, adding depth to the sound. It's as if half of them are at the back of a field somewhere and the other half are hovering next to your ears. It's from their eponymous 2009 debut album, and for a [...]
There's certainly a hint of Seattle's early 90s past dug deep within the core of Naomi Punk's song "I'm Already Dead." A way that the discordant riffs play with the edge of extreme only to pull back in to simple rock 'n' roll twang. It has have mostly to do with the drop, the hallowed [...]

Been meaning to post this for quite awhile, some new music from Washington Natives Naomi Punk . Not to be predictable but these fellows do in fact stay true to the state's grunge roots of the 90s, ripping massive riffs and ride the delicate balance between heavy and soft. The newest release CLS is a compact disc that you can purchase for a mere $3 . Naomi Punk - I'm Already Dead (Demo)

Naomi Punk "Gargoyles" (no I'm not gonna link it, do you want me to wipe your ass too while I'm at it? Just kidding, love you) was a cartoon for kids but it had a plot line to behold. Not your regular cartoon "every episode resets itself", but an actual developing plot-line, where the characters and circumstances change in an ongoing process. The kind of plot line that requires viewer loyalty, much like a soap opera. It started with: "previously on Gargoyles…" as sometimes they'd have to go back [...]
Here is a video crafted and edited by Jordan Smith of We Denton Do It from our show last week with Naomi Punk, Sundress and Masters & Johnson at Dan's Silverleaf. Turn this one up loud. Check out the original track below and the three other videos from the show on the We Denton Do It Vimeo . Naomi Punk - The Sun

On Wednesday, August 11th Weekly Tape Deck brings you the raw sounds of the North when Naomi Punk and Masters & Johnson come through Denton to play Dan's Silverleaf with local consonant-clatterers Sundress . Naomi Punk put out one of our favorite records last year and are clearly geared up for future greatness, don's miss this you will certainly regret it, and they made it here all the way from Seattle so lets show them a good time. The show is a steal at $5 and will consequently also fall on the night [...]

Something that has never happened in my life happened this year. I have never lived anywhere where I can honestly say that my top three favorite records of the year came out of the city in which I reside. It's been an honor, and a delight to live in Seattle this year because I have had the opportunity to see the Intelligence, BOAT and Erik Blood more times than I can count. Usually, if you're lucky you might get one chance to see your favorite band come through your town for a gig. I have had [...]

After all of those lonely solo shows, the great Ryan (and his silky baritone voice) is finally back in action. This weeks playlist was pruned and handpicked by the man himself, so you know it's good. Don't forget to come out to the Granada Theater on the 10th for Jay Reatard, Fergus & Geronimo, and Surfer Blood. 1) Memory Tapes - Plain Material 2) Naomi Punk - The Sun 3) Jay Reatard - Fluorescent Grey 4) Fergus & Geronimo - Blind [...]

Alors pour trouver des choses vraiment intéressantes, il faut creuser, creuser... Il y a un blog extrêmement au courant de ce qui [...]

Still going strong two weeks into our programming on, the great, Indie-Verse radio and we've got another nice lineup of tunes. We've got the local scene covered with some tracks from Fergus & Geronimo and The Uptown Bums. Also, my new collective friends from Oxford, MS, Cats Purring , have their fair share of play time. Listen to the show today at 1 PM CST and again on Saturday at the same time. We'll be in Denton (at Rubber Gloves) tonight for our show with Crystal Antlers, Video and Uptown Bums. Come say hi. Head here [...]
Coincidentally I did not seek out finding Naomi Punk , but happened to be talking to the artist (guess who) who released this record (somewhat secretively) and he passed it along; frankly it quite nearly floored me. Beyond the sweet story of the artist's Mother recording her Rwandan school children singing along to one of the songs, the music stands for itself. The fresh-baked melodies and jarring jangles are enough to induce a peyote trip. This is the kind of music that makes you stoked to be alive and I have no doubt you will be hearing much more [...]
Encore une perle extraite de 'Man On The Moon, The End Of Day' , le premier album de Kid Cudi. A défaut de se retrouver dans le classement des meilleurs albums de Hip-Hop de [...]

This is just one of those tracks. There's. something. about. this. song. It's from Seattle native Naomi Punk's debut. It's not like the rest of the album. It was recorded by her mom (who grew up and works in Africa) in a village in Rwanda and the sounds were manipulated and tweaked (subtly and effectively) by Naomi. The song features African school children chanting along with some lo-fi musical backing, percussion, and handclaps. Lo-Fi music sometimes exudes pretentiousness and self-indulgence. These school children add such a strong element of genuine human spirit that, over the saturated and slightly [...]

"N/A" the new song from Naomi Punk 's full-length debut has been circulating around the regular music blogs like Gorilla vs. Bear and Transparent today. The song, which sounds like a mix-mash of low-fi experimentation and garage tin-can hammering, features the voices of Rwandan children recording by Naomi 's mom. The sounds of schoolyard rhythms and jubilant drumming is impossible not to bring at least a little bit of a small to your face. After one listen there's very little doubt that you should stay tuned [...]

Thanks to various sources for turning me on to this noisy/exuberant lo-fi schoolyard chant, taken from the debut full-length from Seattle's Naomi Punk . " N/A " is the closing track on the new record, and while it's not exactly representative of the rest of the work on the album (which is also very good), it's likely the most vibrant and infectiously uplifting thing you'll hear all day. Naomi Punk tells us: "...it is a song performed by Rwandan children in a town/village in Rwanda, and was recorded by my mom (she [...]
