"Affairs Online" is the first compilation from boutique San Francisco based record label Voltaire Records . It features names from Stockholm, Tokyo, New York to San Francisco and it merges influences from drop funky, prog-driven electro beats that lean left of the obvious. I seriously want 100 more compilations like this one! Such a nice feeling - like I'm 20 years back in time (although I was born in 1988, hehe). Take a look at the video of Erik Artur's opening track, "Redla".

BARCELONA POST MILES OVERDUE SO HERE WE GO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO blates been stuck in Liverpool airport for over a week yeah fucken easyjet definitely all easyjet's fault and nothing to do with me and being consistently inconsistent <_< >_> now whack this mix on while you read kids, nothing like a good hour of Zinc, ESPECIALLY this mix (watch out for 19:07 - goldennnn): Crackhouse April 2011 Zinc Mix I hate writing about stuff I've done unless it's hilarious [...]

Narctrax have been around for awhile, though I had never heard of them. It was only until I was listening to the old Valerie and Friends compilation I stopped in my tracks from the boom; An ear full of 80s robot console game soundtrack music. Very cool stuff. I don't really know much about the Japanese duo/group but ones thing for sure; they have another fan. Download: Unweave The Rainbow - Narctrax (Alt Link) Download: Journey - Narctrax (Alt Link) Enjoy.
As the de facto headliners for this past Sunday's JellyNYC-helmed Pool Party on the Williamsburg waterfront (the thunderstorms that brewed all day finally gave way to torrents of wetness that sent the hipster set running--yes, running--from the outdoor venue to...

We picked up Videohippos' new album Unbeast the Leash just before Christmas after a cursory listen in Edgeworld, having being admonished by Colin about their similarities with Dan Deacon, who digs them very much, here we have a hyperkinetic indie with a penchant for the motorik and the super-focused craziness ...

Acid-mutant-disco. Sounds delicious. If I didn't already know that it was the self-penned sound of Osaka-based UK-expat, Matt Lyne, aka A Taut Line , I'd swear it's where the Turtles used to hang out on a Saturday night once they were done foiling evil Krang's dastardly plans. Except Donatello, who probably would've stayed at home to do heaps complicated maths problems or something because that's what's fun for him. I like Donatello. Anyway, Matt sent us a couple of very impressive remixes, the subjects of which are tracks from the totally remix-friendly British dance-punks, Bolt Action Five; and Electrorash [...]
it seems that with thanksgiving/holidays upon us, the steady flow of jamberonies have been slowing down. while this is a annual trend, it made me thing the the whole indietronica genre might be going the way of dinosaur. desperate for answers i spent the last few days trying to fight against the darkness. and there has been success. two artists have come to my attention. let's start with the obvious first: Villains I say obvious cause everyone and thier mother have been on these guys for [...]

I'm fully digging Narctrax right now. As far as I can tell, Narctrax is for the most part Tokyo DJ, Eddie Van Narc, and when needed, the mysterious Zsa on guitars (oh that rhymes!). Anyway, it's really trancey, but not in that terrible I-need-to-be-on-like-a-KAZILLI ON-pills-to-appreciate-it kind of way. I really enjoy Journey. It's smooth, and atmospheric and just a little bit epic. All it needs is an accompanying film clip with two attractive Japanese anime twenty-somethings trekking their way across a mountain range with a talking unicorn who sprouts wise musings every once in a while. Someone should get [...]
