Everyone must be at the beach this week. There's really no explanation for the scarcity of albums below. However, within our grasp there are a few solid albums groups to delve into. If you think someone should have made the cut who didn't, give us a shout. One of the most popular groups on this list (as far as the East Coast goes) are our Rockville, MD friends O.A.R. Maybe you're eardrums have been pounded to " That Was A Crazy Game Of Poker " a million times over, but those times [...]

With a lot of bands, you hear about them and then you forget them the next moment; somebody mentions their name a few months later and you say "Oh yeah that sounds really familiar, I think I checked them out a while ago." With a band like Natalie Portman's Shaved Head , there's no way in hell that you will forget about them really, with a name like that. Besides their rather unorthodox name though, the shocking thing is that their music actually really isn't that bad. In fact, it's...good. A [...]
What the hell? With a name like this, you'd expect dance-y electropop, and that's exactly what you'll find on Seattle's Natalie Portman's Shaved Head's debut LP, "Glistening Pleasure." Song after song, the album is high-energy without being high-fructose: It's dance music for adults, and there's no good reason not to like this [...]

No, we're not talking about the hair stylings of a young Hollywood starlet, but a little band from Seattle, Washington. We'd like to introduce you all to one of our favorite new acts, Natalie Portman's Shaved Head. We've been giving their debut album, "Glistening Pleasure" a real listen during the past couple weeks and we love it. They have this funky dance/punk/electro sound, like CSS and the New Young Pony Club with vocals from Hot Hot Heat, and they're an absolute blast to listen to. It sounds like they had so much fun recording [...]

Natalie Portman's Shaved Head is a spunky and stylish electro pop group from Seattle that reminds me of 80's synth pioneers Alphaville and Art of Noise . The track, Me + Yr Daughter , from the upcoming album Glistening Pleasure [ preorder ] is the first shiny single. Enjoy. (photo by Sophia Goldfarb) Almost as good a name as Kathleen Turner Overdrive, the four kids in Seattle-based electro group Natalie Portman's Shaved Head take the tried and true formula of holding onto one's youth and hoping to never let go (cf. Black Kids, Be Your Own Pet, Tilly and the Wall) and put synths to it. It's a less menacing version of The Faint , a more peppy rendition of 80s Italo-disco classics. For us, it seems like the more simple the song, the more fun to listen to. [...]

I see you in your room. Costume by Natalie Portman's Shaved Head watcha think? Download: Costume

With a name like Natalie Portman's Shaved Head , you know this is a band that's more concerned with their music than long term brand viability. Maybe the legal eagles see the gig posters and think it's some art house showing of V for Vendetta. Luckily the music replaces the absurdity of the name with good feelings from quality songwriting. Quirky, bouncy rock with plenty of computer bloops and synthesizers. Fab tunes - and equally adept at gaining you rep at either rock shows or DJ sets. MP3 : [...]

Eve's Plum Named for the actress that played the middle Brady sister , the New York band made two records for Sony in the mid-90s before calling it quits after failing to make a dent in the charts. The band's singer, Colleen Fitzpatrick, took a stab at a solo career under the name Vitamin C, but she too, came up short in terms of chart success... Natalie Portman's Shaved Head - Bedroom Costume "I see you in your room" I love getting emails and suggestions from readers... much more than from record companies/labels (most of which obviously don't read the blog or know what kind of music I post). Today's band, the horribly (HORRIBLY) named Natalie Portman's Shaved Head (yes, that's their name) were sent in from a reader and I fell in love with them straight away. [...]

I've just listened to the leaked version of The Kooks' sophomore LP Konk. It's not half bad, it's ok, actually. The thought of being one of the first ones to blog about Konk is tempting, very tempting indeed... I've decided to give Konk a second(or even more...?) listen and then I'll review.. and I don't want the label here, pfsh. Damn you. Anyway, there's a slight chance I might be going on

"Wow, look at these men. What class! What grace! And all because of a little upper lip hair. Lois, I am gonna grow a mustache. And I'll have it made like the Monopoly guy. Except when he goes directly to jail" Peter Griffin from Family Guy couldn't have said it any better! I was watching David Letterman the other night and one of the special guests was the 'model' from the cover of the latest edition of the magazine 'moustache aficionado' and it rekindled my somewhat postponed (due to summer, it's not really beard [...]
I have a lot of trouble keeping track of Boris albums so I have no idea what release this is or how many there have been all I know is there is a new Boris album and I couldn't be happier. Smile is a lot different from what we've come to expect from the band. Albums like Pink and Akuma no Uta set precedence for gloomy, droning metal, and though the band doesn't stray from that entirely they do

Since day one I've been trying to convince Feebz to the get clips out. I thinks she thought I was gay. See Feebz I'm not the only one who gets extremely toey from a shaved ball. Finally I get the justification that I needed. Natalie Portman's Shaved Head - Slow Motion Tag Team Natalie Portman's Shaved Head - Beard Lust

...a few random things I find in my downloads folder when I inspect it to get rid of the stuff I never listen to. Like that AC/DC bluegrass tribute album, for example. Before New Magnetic Wonder , the Apples in Stereo gave us Velocity of Sound . Be sure to say thanks . I'm off to Seattle for about two weeks, and I don't think I'll have much chance to post much between then and now. And I was just getting the hang of it too.. but to make it up to you, here's a bunch of random MP3s and some news from Thunderbirds Are Now! (Get the title of the post, or is it still too weird?) I'm trying to do this quickly so I can go do some late minute packing, but here goes. Seattle Mix Tape! A random mix of mp3s from [...]
