Portland, Ore.'s Natasha Kmeto is on the verge of something huge. A versatile, inventive producer and a forceful vocalist, she recently released The Ache (via PDX imprint Dropping Gems ) as a name-your-own-price Bandcamp download (with a physical release to follow.) The production is varied, dark and beautiful, with vaguely Eastern influences informing the sound palette and avant-garde touches bringing to mind LA beat luminaries like Nosaj Thing. As an instrumental album, The Ache would be cool as hell, but it's Kmeto's songwriting and singing that take it to the next level. A [...]
LET IT RAIN: KELLI SCHAEFER, NAPALM BEACH, ANCIENT HEAT, ATOLE ( Oregon Historical Society , 1200 SW Park) All good things must end, like the Oregon Rocks music exhibit at the Historical Society, but it's going out with a bang with the release of a compilation of current Oregon bands covering local legends. Throw some live music by Kelli Schaefer, Ancient Heat, and Napalm Beach on that party and you have a rager. COURTNEY FERGUSON CURSIVE, [...]

Natasha Kmeto has strung a chord with me ever since her previous track, 'Belly', on the Dropping Gems 2nd compilation . Well to my excitement she's back with an entirely new set of tunes in her new album, The Ache , which is out now on Dropping Gems . The dynamic vocals of Ms.Kmeto support her electrifyingly barrier breaking beat bassed instrumentals. Yeah, its something completely different from what she has created in the past but this new direction of her sound might be the best from her yet. [...]

Natasha Kmeto and I are in a commiserative state because neither one of us didn't make the cut for the Red Bull Music Academy and we're feeling totally bummed about it. In fact I posted my rejection letter from them on our Facebook page yesterday. We're feeling bummed...well I don't know about her but I certainly do!!! LOLAnyways Natasha just put out a brand new mixtape and weeeeeeeeee love it.
It's a Portland-based family affair, y'all! Alt-electro singer-producer Natasha Kmeto recently linked with fellow PDX native Devonwho for a remix to "A Way to Love Me", perhaps the steamiest track I've heard in the past few weeks. Everything about this track is supremely seductive, from the wavering background vocals to the building hook to Devonwho's chopped-up beat. Someone get me a full album of Kmeto/Devonwho remixes. STAT. Stream "A Way to Love Me" below and hit the skip to download. Download: Natasha Kmeto - "A Way to [...]
