After claiming Fields Of The Nephilim as their first headliner, the good folk at Hellfire Festival have confirmed that Tesseract , Viking Skull , Rise To Remain, Spit Like This, Sacred Mother Tongue and October File are all to perform at the festival in November. After nailing it in London in February, Hellfire Festival II is occuring at Birmingham NEC on 06-08 November 2009 and it's going to be a right stonker. Held in conjuction with industry Music Live - "The UK's Biggest and Best Music [...]
As anyone who attended their rather splendid inaugural event back in February will attest, Hellfire Festival was one badass weekend at the Islington Academy. Well, the Thrash Hits rumour squad has picked up some tasty little tidbits about Hellfire Festival II - which is apparently taking place before the year is out. Hellfire will be moving out of the capital and into a more central UK location - Birmingham seems likely, what with it being the spiritual birthplace of metal, after all. Word round the campfire also has it that [...]

I've got my gas mask ready. What about you? In the interest of preparedness in these uncertain times, the incomparable @ NotNotoriousBIG on Twitter has procured a mask for you all to wear. The graphic below is a PNG file with transparent background, so all you gots to do is take your profile picture from your preferred social network, open it in the graphics program of your choice, and paste that lil' dude about the mouth and nose regions. Can't be too careful when it keeps looking like some 28 Days Later shit's gettin' ready [...]

The Strange Boys bring their brand of noisy, catchy, lo-fi garage rock all the way from Austin, Tex. to The Earl tonight.

A lot of amazing bands have come out of Atlanta, GA in the past few years. Take Manchester Orchestra for example; since they released Like A Virgin... they've become massive and sill manged to put a record label together full of their friends from their hometown. Although I've never actually been to Atlanta, through my internet reserach and general love for finding new bands I've come to the conclusion that state is producing some amazing bands right now and I though't I'd share with you all my top five bands from the area. I've also included [...]
The N.E.C. promises to give you two free beers if you come out to their record release show on Sun. March 7 and buy a copy of their new split 10-inch w/ Jovontaes.
Emory University student radio station WMRE will host its annual Localsfest on Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. at the Harland Cinema.

I should be releasing my best of 2008 list next month at this time. As a preview, you can bet that San Francisco's Sic Alps will be firmly planted in the northern latitudes of the list. This isn't your father's unwashable, filthy, no-fi psychedelic rock scuz - Sic Alps twist, creak, and thump, taking you on a cosmically damaged romp through west coast good vibes and future shock trepidation. Why I didn't czech out the group earlier is a mystery to me. Their debut Pleasures and Treasures was released on Animal [...]

Admittedly, it took me a while to warm up to these guys, but now I'm squarely on the bandwagon after their Corndogorama performance. They are doing a short tour on the east coast starting this week, so you OTP readers need to catch some ATL flavour: The N.E.C. Tour Dates: 7/31 - Knoxville, TN @ Pilot Light 8/1 - Asheville, NC @ New French Bar 8/2 - Lexington, KY @ The Void 8/4 - Brooklyn, NY @ Trash Bar 8/6 - New York, NY @ Cake Shop 8/9 - Ashland, KY 8/15 - [...]
