Concert Review: Wilco with White Denim at Paramount Theatre, Seattle, WA, 2/7/12
Wilco and White Denim treat a sold-out Seattle crowd well.
Wilco returns to 'Austin City Limits' for its fourth appearance. (Photo courtesy of Scott Newton/KRLU) "When people ask what kind of music 'Austin City Limits' stands for," executive producer Terry Lickona says, " there's one band that sums it up better than any other –Wilco!" Airing this Saturday, Feb. 4, this is the fourth appearance of this veteran modern rock band on the TV show. Concentrating on its latest release The Whole Love , the Chicago sextet puts such stellar tracks as "Art of Almost," "One Wing" and "Dawned [...]
Na produção de Out of the Game , álbum descrito por [...]
Baroque-pop superstar Rufus Wainwright has announced a new album for April 24th (in the UK, the US will receive it on May 1st), his seventh full-length, and the follow up to 20102s All Days Are Nights: Songs For Lulu . The album is called Out of the Game and for its recording Wainwright enlisted the help of many interesting musicians. First and foremost is Mark Ronson, the much in-demand producer, who showed his versatility last year by producing the Black Lips' latest offering Arabia Mountain , but should be much more in his element [...]
Photo by Catherine Watkins Aside from collaborating with everyone on god's green earth, The Flaming Lips' other current fascination appears to be covering The Beatles. We've already witnessed Wayne Coyne and co's tripped out version of "I Am The Walrus" , and now Hidden Track points us to pro-shot footage of the band's recent New Year's Eve show in Oklahoma City, where they teamed up with Wilco's Nels Cline for a 17-minute rendition of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". Watch it below. In other [...]
Despite being ten years removed from their magic run of albums (has it really been ten years since Yoshimi?), the Flaming Lips never seem to be far from the indie rock news feeds. Whether it is songs that last for days , innovative album packaging , or exciting collaboration announcements the Lips remain a staple in the 2012 music scene. As far as awesome collaborations go, this pro-shot take of the Lips joined on stage by Wilco Axe-man Nels Cline at the band's New Year's Oklahoma homecoming set is right up there. The Lips [...]
I bought this on CD back in 1995 after seeing a live performance of Mike Watt featuring Eddie Vedder and Dave Grohl performing "Big Train" on John Stewart's late night show . Remember that show? Ball-Hog Or Tugboat? is anything but consistent as its detractors will undoubtedly raise as it's main flaw. Yes, it's Mike Watt showcasing his incredible cast of musical friends. But, you can't argue with songs like Piss-Bottle Man (featuring vocals by Evan Dando), Chinese Firedrill (featuring vocals by Frank Black), [...]
