We're going to SXSW on someone else's dime next week. It's going to be an inverted version of Eurotrip - four British misfits go to America with hilarious consequences and a hundred million weed related gags!
When a press release dropped last week about a new song "The Platform" by a Swedish band called Beardfish I thought to myself, "Hmm, Vince Neilstein... Beardfish. Beardfish. Isn't that the band that Mike Portnoy loves? Beardfish... hmm." And yes, indeed, they are. A little research on this here weblog turned up long since smoked-away [...]

Egyptrixx of Night Slugs has a new album coming out called "Bible Eyes". Here is a nice video below from A.N Fischer featuring the first track from the album, imaginatively titled "Start from the Beginning". Enjoy.

On Saturday 26th March Urban Nerds hit Shoreditch club XOYO for a night of mayhem headed by Zinc and Newham Generals! They're joined by Hot City, a dance outfit on the rise, garnering increasing hype for their uncompromising mash-up of 2-step, garage, funky and ravey house led sets that are doing more that a lot to bring those epic UK garage sounds synonymous with the 90s back to dancefloors across the UK and beyond, fused with bubbly US garage sounds and supported by a string of critically acclaimed productions such as 'Yeah'! This exclusive mini mix from [...]
New Music | Nero Danger! Add a slightly less manic element to Me & You and I like it. I used to shy away from dubstep as I found it a bit too serious. So it's nice to hear a bit of an electro edge to an otherwise full on dubstep tune. Hard to believe their first official single was only out last year, so looking forward to things to come from these guys especially after some awesome remixes like Hot n Fun (N*E*R*D) & La Roux's I'm Not Your Toy.

If I may borrow from the words of Powerman 5000, recent years have seen the worlds of music and nerd-dom collide. We've witnessed the rise of "nerd-core" hip hop artists like MC Frontalot and MC Lars that draw from nerd subcultures for lyrical inspiration, as well as creative acts like Anamanaguchi that actually use 8-bit hardware and other nerdy fascinations to create intriguing, original music. Random (AKA Mega Ran) lies somewhere in between. Fans of Team Teamwork 's Ocarina of Rhyme and Vinal Fantasy 7 [...]
I don't have a problem with nerd metal - I mean, to some extent, ALL metal is nerd metal, but what I really mean is, I don't have a problem with the idea of nerds making metal about computers or other such dorkery. Hell, Meek is Murder's Algorithms, which we're very, very happily releasing next [...]

I sat down with Nick Nowell, lead singer of The Famine , a month ago to talk about their new album, The Architects of Guilt . The weekend prior, an assassination attempt on Gabrielle Giffords had occurred, and it dominated most of our pre-interview conversation and also bled into the interview itself. It was somewhat fitting as The Famine's new album is, in large, a statement of disgust of America's current political climate. The album is out now, and I can't recommend it enough. It's heavy, passionate and intelligent - everything a [...]

Top 5 Dead Or Alive is scheduled to hit shelves sometime between now and December 31. I hope. When it comes to Jadakiss and his projects, I really don't invest too much into their validity until about a month away from the actual release date. Still, I'll gladly take new music from Montega Jada whenever the opportunity arises. Kiss got his hands on the N.E.R.D. instrumental to get some things off his chest and pass down game. Of course, in typical fashion, there are a few jewels present. [...]

A Must for Music Nerds - 6 Tools You Should Be Using// As a self professed music nerd I've been meaning to write about this topic for a long time. If there is one thing I spend tons of time doing it is discovering new music, and whenever I find new and innovative ways to help me do so I get super excited. I realize this is not the sort of thing that excites normal people, but if you're on my level then you know what I'm referring to. Nothing makes my day [...]
Join us on a magical journey to virgin town. Actually, that nerds as virgins joke is a little outdated. Since the dawn of the internet, these dudes are fucking like rabbits now. Nerdy rabbits, but still.

Here's a group that we've kept in our radar since they first hit the scene and I now have the privilege of breaking their earmilk cherry. The Twinsmatic is a young duo based out of Paris, France that are slowly but surely making a name for themselves with their mild yet impactful remixes. The great thing about The Twinsmatic and their remixes is that they add just enough love to the tracks to make it something of their own without compromising the original roots of the tracks.. a little goes a long way. They recently just dropped a [...]
The first Filthy Friday was massively successful, so I'm back with an extra heaping dose of filthy rage music. I should mention that I'm greatly anticipating the release of Rusko's forthcoming single "Everday," as well as a gang of Nero tracks that should be poppin off any day now. We've already witnessed a disproportionately large amount of killer new music this year, and I don't expect the torrent of badass to cease anytime soon. Keep it locked on Filthy Friday for the best in dank. Yours always, Sir Liquid Crimestein (Ask about [...]
