Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore are two of the most happening dudes in the Commonwealth these days. They got together with Neva Geoffrey in Lexington last Thursday, and Meagan Jordan was kind enough to get us some photos. Speaking of Kentucky and Daniel Martin Moore, he recently did an interview with You Ain't No Picasso where he spoke eloquently about the virtues of small-town life and the damage coal mining does to communities in the eastern portion of the state.
Sorry for the late notice on this one guys, but don't mistake that for the shows irrelevance. TONIGHT the incredible Basia Bulat is performing at the 930 Listening Room with Lexington's Neva Geoffrey opening. I caught Neva opening for Jose Gonzlaez at Headliners earlier this year and she put on an incredible show somewhere between Cat Power and St. Vincent. She'd been a regular at The Dame until recently, and a part of that whole close-knit scene with Scourge of the Sea, The Apparitions, These United States and Vandaveer. [...]

Friday's a little bit tamer than Thursday's schedule - there are eleven showcases to choose from instead of fifteen, but the festival makes up for it with the first of two official after parties at City Hall. But before that, you've got your work cut out for you deciding what to see. The Cannery has a great lineup - including Kindercastle , Cortney [...]

The other day I heard about Neva Geoffrey and her new release, The day Are Rolling , on the once great, and now totally resurrected label Alias Records . So I tried to work a little mp3 blogger magic to get you a song off the new record. It was all back channel stuff, very hush hush. And then the next day before all my hard work had time to come to fruition this song from the record magically appeared in my inbox. What good fortune! I've heard all the relvanant comparable [...]
Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, fortunately, had no clue that David Bowie wanted Satan out of his swimming pool, Iggy Pop ate nothing but German sausages for about a year or that Ozzy Osbourne reportedly went directly from rehab to a local pub. Breyer flunked the "pop" quiz on a weekend appearance on NPR. Hopefully, he still knows a bit about "separation of powers" and the "checks and balances" inherent in our system of government that some seem to have forgotten. Tori Amos has a new record coming out. BuzzSugar has a new tune up that [...]
