It would be a surprise if Friend Collector was actually out there making good on their name and actually, ya know, making friends. However, judging by the sort of nihilistic noise and message that comes together on the bands debut album they probably aren't winning them over in droves. As has been the case with Jason Donnells' past projects such as The New Flesh and Pfisters , where they dished out yet a similar brand of unrelenting brand of noise-rock. Where does Friend Collector stand in the mix of things? Well, [...]

Friend Collector (feat. members of The New Flesh) is a noise rock/punk band from right here in Baltimore. Most will take them as just a bunch of rampant noise with no purpose, which is missing the point. From what I've gathered, this is a band that plays with reckless abandon and an inescapable fury of noise in order to obliterate expectations. Instead of attempting to make something from a mold of another band or familiar sound, these guys are freeing their demons in a most unadulterated manner. Certainly, this isn't going to be a band for everyone, but [...]
Realistically, this post could go on forever. I've been a long term lover and admirer of all things Ninja. Ever since I was 10 or 11 years old I've been listening to this label and still... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

MP3: Pfisters - She's Mine MP3: Pfisters - Cluck-U Pfisters can be found in their native habitat, the live show, TWICE this weekend: the DNA Test Fest III pre-party at their home-base, Ruintown on Fri Apr 2nd, and the big show proper on Sat Apr 3rd at Sonar . Punk for the musically capable is what crossed my mind on the first playthrough of Narcicity . That assessment certainly holds up when [...]

Having never heard this lovely demo when it was originally recorded and distributed in 2003, I was fairly pleased to see it show up. Fan Death know what's up apparently as they've seen it fit to re-release this 20 minute demo from Baltimore's finest noise-rock outfit The New Flesh . It's currently available only on cassette in a limited run of 200, however once these run out there will be no more according to the label. So yeah, if you're a fan…get this…NOW. This is some very very nasty lo-fi noise [...]

Acts such as New Flesh and Gamma in many ways were ahead of their time with the sound they were putting out at the start of the decade and the end of the last. Although they didn't always hit home, the vision was certainly there and both of them should definitely be counted amongst the pioneers of the type of sounds we include here at Chrome Kids. One of the key members of both groups Juice Aleem has just dropped his his debut album (surely [...]

Walking into the MICA North Ave. parking lot was like stepping into an alternate universe to me. Accustomed to the outstandingly complete normalcy of Carroll County living, everything involved at Saturday's Whartscape was akin to alien scenery in my eyes. If anyone attending knew who I was or what I looked like-and you probably didn't, you crazy ass MICA kids, I apologize for probably having stared just a tad too much. Whispers For Wolves : The third or fourth thing I laid my eyes upon, and I saw plenty, [...]

MP3: DD/MM/YYYY - They Anyone who showed up to last year's Whartscape knows that DD/MM/YYYY kill onstage, same goes for those who saw them on tour with Videohippos in May. This bunch of experimental-rocking Canadians dropped their fourth release, Black Square , but only a few months ago. I thought it was pretty great. My email account caught up with theirs for a few questions fairly recently, here's how it went down: 1. You guys were at Whartscape last year; care to [...]

From the Big Dada site: New Flesh return with the standout cut from their already-acclaimed third LP, "Universally Dirty." With violin and acoustic guitar butting up against unfeasibly squelchy sub-bass and state-of-the-art beats, it's a tune which shows the group at their most musical, Juice Aleem's and Toastie Tailor's rap styles and lyrical themes showcasing them once [...]

This year has seen some fine releases from Baltimore noise makers The New Flesh , their latest single "Dog" and their ridiculously good album Vessel to just name a couple. After being formed in 2002, the trio has been ravaging audience's ear drums and recording some of the whitest hot noise-rock to come out in recent years. Everything this band does falls into the uncompromising and blatantly nasty category. As noise-rock has always been of the "in your face" nature, some bands are content with being [...]

some non-exhaustive notes on UK hip hop - potential for many more posts on this. the focus here is MCs (and London) but more may will follow later. Beginnings... & London Posse when did UK hip hop start? as far as this question means anything at all, one could say it started when UK MCs started rapping with their own accents rather than in new york/mid atlantic verbal limbo. One of the first krus to take this on was London Posse, who spent time in New York rapping in generic [...]

Second part of SXSW 2007 punk list. This one has fare more gothic metal feel to it. Not my usual flavor, but the dark gothic is really pleasant, in romantic sort of way. (Femur and Los Llamarada) I hope you enjoy this rather long punk list. I don't mind using this for drinking soundtrack. " SXSW 2007. Shiny Punk with Late Night Sweet " 01. New Flesh - Wherever We Go [mp3] (Universally Dirty) I don't tend to be the biggest fan of UK Hip-Hop. Being a relative young-un, I missed most of Rodney P, Skitz and Roots Manuva n skipped straight to Wiley, Dizzee and Jammer. This track's big still. The beats are big, the lyrics are big and the video 's proper quirky - rappers dressed as astronauts trying to get into clubs. I guess that's one thing that stands out in UK Hip-Hop, a good sense of humour. Roots Manuva has always been a [...]
