With a simple doorbell begins the album From A to B by New Musik . Something so familiar but incredibly listenable, danceable, singalong-able. Why haven't I heard this before? The glorious-but-lamentable discovery of something that existed all this time: a secret, just waiting to be found. Something that could make you so happy, something that could quite possibly change your life. And there it was. Just waiting. Secret music. A secret to the world, a secret to you. Or maybe just to you. Perhaps someone knew, and of course they did, because that's how it got to you. [...]

In past instalments of this series I have been very careful to issue a caveat about the music that I would feature, emphasising that the songs were chosen not because I endorsed them, but because they had the power to transport me back to a particular time or place. This caveat still applies, but it is becoming less necessary than before as the series goes on. This episode features some of my all-time favourite singles, and a few songs which I don't mind hearing again. There is only among these eight songs from which I'd emphatically have to distance myself. [...]
New Musik was formed in 1977 comprising of singer/guitarist Tony Mansfield, keyboardist Nick Straker (replaced by Clive Gates in 1979), bassist Tony Hibbert and drummer Phil Towner (who had played on the Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star"). After their first two albums done together, Hibbert and Towner eventually both left the band, leaving Mansfield and Gates to record the third and final New Musik album as a duo with a hired drummer. Unlike From A to B and Anywhere, which blended synthesizers with acoustic guitars, live percussion, and other classic pop elements, Warp is [...]

I am sure you can find it at the hype machine", según rebusco en gmail.

Most of the members of excellent synth outfit New Musik moonlighted in the Nick Straker Band. Or was it the other way round? Anyway. 'A Little Bit Of Jazz' is a tune and I'm gonna post it. New Musik is an unbelievable band that was alive from 1979-1982*. That is: active for three years, released three albums, and had three Number One hits. The band was lead by Tony Mansfield, who really loved his Fairlight. He later went on to work with the B-52s and A-Ha (!), and --which I love the most-- produced BrainStorm's winning song in the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest, 'My Star' . That fact makes me so happy. (* I saw somewhere that the band existed in 1977, but I haven't found any releases from then, so I dunno...) [...]
