Intelligence in Lifestyle magazine is the new holy grail of infographic greatness. It is a high-end Italian magazine aimed at men. The magazine is equipped with a beautiful design creatively directed by Francesco Franchi. For some of us, getting ahold of the magazine could be difficult. Francesco has archived several of the layouts from the interiors spreads and covers onto his Flickr —they make amazing desktop backgrounds as well. If in case you're wondering, the magazine utilizes Publico, a serif face that fits perfectly into the design is much less ubiquitous than say Helvetica or [...]

"Why the hell would journalist be thinkin' shit?, cause lies equals power, equals politics..I didn't lie to you....your a racist ,I wouldn't trust you one bit" M.I.A. delivers a quite banger as she continues her assault on NYT writer Lynn Hirshberg who penned the inflammatory cover story M.I.A.'s Agitprop Pop . College students, rock stars, artists, yipsters and ne'er do wells are expected, if not encouraged, to consistently indulge in a bit of the wacky tobacky. However, most cogent beings would bridle at the thought of dentists, surgeons or cab drivers sucking down bong hits before sashaying off to the office. So what about cooks, who have, rather controversially , been dubbed the new rock stars of the 21 st century? Is it kewl for them to sneak a puff or two between creating rafts for consommé and cranking out puff pastries? According to Anthony [...]

Ryan McGinley is a terrific photographer so it's not surprising that the photographs he captured for M.I.A.'s controversial New York Times profile turned out so amazing. Related posts: Annie Leibovitz Pawns Her Life Work Photographer [...]
I know we're living in an all-interactive, 360-degree feedback world, but still can't shake the sense that for MIA to tweet a New York Times journalist's number and suggest her fans call her to rail against an article smacks more than a little of a bully's tactics. The article, it's true, doesn't exactly smother MIA in lovey-kiss-kisses: While Hirschberg's research poses some important questions, particularly with regard to MIA's wealth, her politics, and her relationship with her father, it is the 34-year-old singer who does herself a disservice, admitting to being "tone deaf" and [...]

So sandwiches are one of my favorite foods, and earlier this week I shared the sandwich that Willie made for me over at Graham Avenue Meats and Deli . I've been pretty happy with my lunches week, and that is because I've been bringing an amazing sandwich with me to work. It's a ciabatta roll with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, basil, and home made asparagus feta pesto. The asparagus pesto is a Mark Bittman recipe that was posted in the NY Times that klk and I adapted. Link: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05 /30/magazine/30mia-t.html?ref= music Link: http://twitter.com/_M_I_A_/sta tus/14841407386 The NY Times recently wrote a 'profile piece' about M.I.A., and basically 'panned the eff out of her', not only as an artist, but as a human being. It wanted to make sure we understood she was a 'contrived cunt' who was just doing things for memes / press / coverage. Even though she has an 'artistic vision' or whatever, she still just tries to 'be all sensational' and lies about stuff she doesn't really fully understand. [...]
In yesterday's copy of the New York Times there was a feature on M.I.A. written by Lynn Hirschberg, which it seems M.I.A. was not too pleased with. The feature was quite in-depth featuring tales from the recording process of M.I.A.'s new record /\/\/\Y/\ on a day to day scale as well as quotes from M.I.A. and others which she evidently feels did not paint a particularly complimentary picture. As a recompense for what M.I.A. has deemed unfair she has just sent out a tweet on her twitter which features the phone number of Lynn [...]

Link: http://www.thedailyswarm.com/h eadlines/new-york-times-i-love -you-youre-bringing-me-down-ja mes-murphy-gets-shit/ I am not sure if any1 listens to the New York Times when it comes to music reviews, but it seems like they 'took issue' with the new LCD Soundsystem album. Feel like even though James Murphy has alternative tenure from most websites, they decided to 'pan his shit album.' I am not sure why the NY Times did this since it is a local paper, and they should probably just support local musicians. Maybe u [...]
Today marks the release of The National's 52nd album, "High Violet" and to coincide with that they've released the video for "Bloodbuzz Ohio", one of the standout tracks on the album. Check it out below and listen to three new songs. They're also performing "High Violet" in its entirety live on YouTube on May 15th and made a little trailer for it below. This evening presented a rare break in our schedules, allowing us the opportunity to do something we hadn't done together in weeks. . . Cook a fun little meal :) The inspiration for the recipes we chose to prepare was drawn from none other than two lovely local foodies whom we respect and enjoy their company: Heidi Robb and Michelle Venorsky (aka Cleveland Foodie) After a conversation with Heidi regarding a recent purchase of a Donna Hay cookbook that was unknowingly written in Spanish (she was [...]

Link: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05 /03/us/03addiction.html I don't think this post is even really that relevant. The NY Times wrote an article about female pornography addiction counseling. I don't think they really 'care about' porn addiction like it is a real problem, but it seems like something that could get a lot of hits, since it involves religion, females, and pornography. It also really helped that they had a photo of an entry-level alt girl as the physical representation of female porn addiction. Do u think she uses her [...]

That's right folks, as you might have seen the announcement in the last week or two, the New York Times are streaming indie rock for the first time today. The album, The National's High Violet , will be streaming until Tuesday on the Times ' website . We're about a half-listen into the full thing while writing this, and while we're pretty into it we would note (as we did with their second leak ) that this seems like a shift from aging laments to much more angst-ridden aggressions on growing older and [...]
![[Listen] High Violet By The National](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2501697_lg.jpg)
UPDATE : According to The New York Times they've had to remove the stream for "security reasons", stating; "Due to security issues, the full stream of the "High Violet" has been removed. A condensed version of the album will be posted shortly." So I guess keep checking back. UPDATE : Looks like they fixed it, for now at least. Here it is, an official, high-quality stream of "High Violet" by The National. As mentioned a few days ago the album leaked online and the [...]

As expected, GURU obits, tributes, and remembrances are turning up at a much faster pace than were, say, reviews of his last few albums. But it's not just the knee-jerk nonsense that's annoying here. It's the fact that shitheads who either never did care or haven't cared about GURU in years are writing irresponsible pieces ( for the record - I am not in that category ). I'm not saying that everything is trash; Jon Caramanica of the New York Times did an especially thorough job (unfortunately, his [...]
