There's been some good disco coming out of Northern Europe for the past few years, Kool DJ Dust, Diskjokke, and now Drop Out Orchestra . D.O.O. is two dudes from Skane (Sweden) making all sorts of disco and getting remixed by the likes of Blackstrobe, Lou Teti, and Tronik Youth while remixing acts like Flight Facilities, Sex Pistols, and Newcleus. Their tour schedule covers a big portion of Europe although I don't see them coming to the US anytime soon. They seem to be releasing stuff under their own label Drop Out Records and Tapes... not to be confused [...]

COURTESY OF BLOONOOSE: Got quite a few 12"s from that era,inc a white lable copy of Planet Rock. My favourite track of that type would have to be Jam on Revenge by Newcleus, the album also produced some great tracks too such as Computer age found here. NEWCLEUS ZIP
Three words to the wack : Jam On Productions. Three more: Their official site. And still, three more: Old four-track demos!!! [ Jam On Productions ; HT Jon Solomon ]
Thoughtful post from Kinosport , lovely track too, first heard via one of my brother-in-laws. Here is the vocal intro version. Computer Age - Newcleus Tagged: carl sagan, earth, kinosport, newcleus
If you read the title & immediately heard the song in your head, you just may be old. Same rule applies to if you read the words " Da Ha Da Ha ." There was actually a better quality version of this on on MySpace Videos but embedding was disabled. And, yes Teef, I had this joint on cassette, just like you did. I had parachutes pants too...with like 6 sets of zippers.
It's not often that you find an artist or group that can instantly give you neck chills with an original song, a cover AND a remix. But the hyperactive duo from Brooklyn called Phone Tag (one member of which is Gryphon from Kosovo, a group who long ago piqued our interests ) have done just that with their mixture of bouncy, distorted, kinetic, machine compositions. A soft, wavering cover of Passion Pit is the only interesting choice here, and the farthest removed from the band's own music compositions, but that's sort of expected when you even think [...]
The New Year is here, and my holidays have been great. Let's celebrate old-school with these solid gold classics: Giorgio Moroder - The Chase New Order - Blue Monday Eddy Grant - Electric Avenue Newcleus - Jam On It Cybotron - Clear

Early demo work from Positive Messenger aka Newcleus is available on their official " Jam On Productions " webpage, Lot's of lovely, raw 4 track, tape-2-tape edits of some of their classic work as well as some never before released material. This is spacey, electro-funk at it's best. Positive Messenger - Why
When Acid House was developed in the 80s by Phuture, it came about because they couldn't figure out how to work their Roland TB-303. DJ Pierre says that it all started when they were trying to get it to work and he "just started turning knobs", after 30 or 40 minutes of experimentation they eventually cut the track. Ron Hardy dropped Acid Trax four times the first night it played in a club; by the end of his set, acid was born! Since then artists such as Newcleus, Moby and Massive Attack amongst others have incorporated the electronic sequencer into [...]

I'm a product of the eighties. I remember playing the original NES system at friends houses. The 8 bit graphics were sweet (or so I thought). Does anybody remember the R.O.B. , the power pad or the power glove ? Robots were huge. It's crazy how far things have come. It's great that 8 bit sounds and art have been making their way back into the limelight . One of my favorite bands from the eighties is Newcleus . They came around during the first wave [...]
