People love lists, and people love music, and some people love music blogs, and then there are others who enjoy Twitter, and then we have a few people who enjoy them altogether. With this list though, it's not just about who's the biggest music blog or who posts the most, it's a mix between blogs who post regularly fantastic content and others who post less content to their own blog but who's Twitter game is on fire. We follow and interact with these blogs on a daily basis, and you should too. Here they are in alphabetical order. [...]
On Friday, Irish music critic extraordinaire Niall Byrne aka Nialler 9 wrote a fantastic post called "Five reasons why Irish trad has been reinvigorated in 2012". It's the kind of piece that made Nialler9 so popular in the first place, and it's wonderful to see him taking the time to [...]
![SXSW 2012: Nialler9 & Hype Machine Day Party (3/17) :: [RSVP Info]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4092191_lg.jpg)
Another great lineup from the always awesome Nialler 9 ! SXSW 2012: Nialler 9 & Hype Machine Day Party Saturday, March 17th | 1pm - 7pm Hype Machine's Hype Hotel ( 504 Trinity St ) [ RSVP ]
We're not two weeks into 2012 yet but there has already been an enormous amount of sniping going on as regards Irish music. I realise Ireland couldn't exist without a healthy dose of cynicism but it seems that we've reached a crescendo already. First up, the state of music blogs [Read more]
Nialler9 has compiled his best free Irish downloads of 2011.
The latest Nialler9 podcast is a bit different down to the fact that there are two of us. I joined Aoife for a change for the links between tunes. Besides that it's business as usual with some...

Having got an impressive glimpse into his live set at Hard Working Class Heroes (I saw the last two or three minutes), I've been intrigued by Simon Bird , the 21 year-old Dublin-based producer from West Somerset. He has released four EPs of music on Bandcamp since November last year and there's a healthy experimental playing with the form and function that I like. While the few minutes of live set I saw where distinctly more upbeat, the fifth EP entitled V hangs in a more ambient but grand noise space. Download it at Bandcamp [...]

It's funny how two artists who probably don't know each other become connected in your brain. I found Loftmind by looking at Ifan Daffyd's Twitter where he bigged up the Marvin Gaye remix below yesterday. I was poking around the internet to see if Ifan Daffyd has released anything ( he has ) . In browsing his social network pages, he, in turn, brought me to Loftmind when he tweeted at a compliment to them on the remix. Loftmind are Joel Sinclair & Dom Flint, producers from Leeds who [...]

Last year's Electric Picnic 2010 mixtape went down so well, when it came time to do one for 20112s Electric Picnic I couldn't whittle the tracks down to one mixtape. So I decided to do two - Day and Nite . Mixtape 1 - Day represents the guitar angle, the folk musicians, the indie, the rock and everything in between. Mixtape 2 - Nite represents the more electronic side of the festival, the beats, the repetition and the remixes. An abridged downloadable version containing OK to download [...]

If music blogggers had to rally together to form a national sports team to represent their country, then Nailler9 wouldn't just get into the Republic of Ireland's, it would be their captain. The editor, Niall Byrne, is a respected figure in music blogging, both nationally and internationally, with a busy site that updates many times each week, leading from the front with his well-written coverage of new music from around the globe. As you can see from his gig guides, if something happens in Ireland in the new music arena then he's onto it. However, the [...]

It's past the halfway mark into the year and time to take stock on what's been moving me the most in the last six months. I expect lots of change by the end of the year including albums from The Horrors , Patrick Kelleher , Zomby and maybe Beirut , Thundercat , The Rapture, Björk, Modeselektor and St. Vincent. There's also those other albums I've not given a proper listen yet (hello Unknown Mortal Orchestra, The Middle East,Colin Stetson, FaltyDL and John Maus) . For now, I hope this list reminds or recommends you something. [...]

Fresh new tunes from Florida's Millionyoung, Canadians Young Galaxy and Jacques Greene, my favourite Japanese artist Shugo Tokumaru, DFA's Holy Ghost!, France's Yelle, Minneapolis' Generationals, Greece's Keep Shelly In Athens (whose song 'Hauntin' Me' inspired the awesome Left Overs artwork above), California wonky pop from Therapies Son and Dirty Beaches with a few more thrown in for good measure. Right Click Radio 2XM's Aoife Mc presents. Tracklisting and links after the jump... MP3: Nialler9 Podcast #35 Subscribe to the Podcast via iTunes [...]
The Recommender prides itself on being well-networked. We put a lot of effort into sharing, chatting, tweeting and generally being an all-round friendly blog, especially to other music bloggers. We understand the time and effort that goes into making a successful music blog and so we sympathise with the many thousands of the others out there, who put their hearts and their passions into their spaces. It seemed a fair and logical thing to ask those very bloggers who they would consider are the best blogs out there and they duly responded in their hundreds to [...]
New video from the band Solar Bears for the track "Dolls," which comes from their new album, She Was Coloured In . According to the good people at Nialler 9 , the animation in this video is from a French/Czech science-fiction film called Fantastic Planet / La Planet Savage. -
![[Listen] – New Album By Not Squares – "Yeah OK"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3001138_lg.jpg)
Depending on how long you've been reading this site you might remember me speaking about Not Squares way back in March. In that post I proclaimed that you might just be hearing a lot from these electro-thrash-punk-rock guys in 2010 and if you followed their Twitter stream then you would have, but that's about it really. They haven't really done a whole lot or been passed around from site to blog to site like I'd hoped they would, but there have been a fair few sites talking about them. [...]
A new video for the Baths song " Stupor ," which is off a compilation that is out now via Heart Music Group . / via / -
It's a very special State vs... gig this month as we endure a temporary split in the ranks to do battle with our very own Nialler9 to celebrate his fifth birthday (as a music blogger, he's not some sort of child prodigy). As befits such an occasion, Nialler has picked a very special headliner to represent him, so special in fact that we simply cannot reveal their identity until the night. Trust us, it'll be something special. And loud. Very loud. And pretty fast too. Almost as special as the man himself doing battle on the decks with [...]
For any Nokia-users out there, a Nialler9 app is now available in the Ovi store.
