So I've finally listened to The Waiting Room, Syndication 001 the session with Alcoholic Faith Mission . I can't tell you how great it is to hear the show again after such a long hiatus. I mean the banter between songs is seriously insane and that is also part and parcel to what makes this show a SHOW and not just a podcast of new music. Any old blogger can throw some songs together that he gets from PR folks in his inbox, and claim that they're his favorites of this month, or week. or summer, or [...]

Sometimes you discover great new upcoming talents by attending gigs of your favorite artists. (sometimes you don't haha) The same happened when I found out that a Nic Dawson Kelly is going to support Laura Marling in Amsterdam this coming monday. Born up north in Sheffield, and now residing in the south where he switches his time between Brighton and Reading, Nic has lived all over, travelling from place to place and taking in Derby, Leeds, Reading, Brighton, Galway, London, Argentina and France along the way. "Due to all the moving about I didn't get too [...]

The Musician mp3 Nic Dawson Kelly Old Valentine ..... buy it Nic Dawson Kelly put this record out last October and nobody really heard it over here. I'm not sure anyone much heard it over THERE either. But DC played it on The Waiting Room , and made me listen to it, and goddamn if I can't stop playing it in my car and on my laptop and on my ipod. And it's not the sound of something that will [...]

We have three very original and adventurous artists on show for you today, but each one comes with that rare and rather wonderful ability to mesmerize and trap you with their unique creations. Welcome once again aboard the good ship Recommender - let's go floating... NIC DAWSON KELLY Following on from our coverage of the excellent Brighton band, The Agitator , we are pleased to be able to provide yet another artist who neatly slots into a similar foot-stomping, blues-based pot. [...]

Hola peeps. What you guys up to tomorrow, Thurs 24th Sept? We're going to Big Fun at The Macbeth to see our buddy, Nic Dawson Kelly play, with support from the Amarylas. And guess what - it's freeeee! Oh yeah. There's even a free BBQ too - isn't that nice? Expect it to be rammed - the last one of these that I went to was ridiculous, and it cost a fiver to get in. So anyway, let me tell you about Nic Dawson Kelly. I met him yonks ago when he was living with [...]

I finally got to see Thao Nguyen the other night at Bardens Boudoir , she was really good, lovely voice, really good stage presence etc...i was a little surprised to see that it was just her and the drummer, but the interaction between the two of em was pretty special. The only thing i missed was the piano which is fairly prominent in Geography . She played Bag of Hammers and Beat (Health, Life and Fired) which obviously went down real well. If you haven't [...]

MP3: Nic Dawson Kelly - The Musician The musician. The lost art of whistling. A rough sort of classy folk. The shallow end of meaning reveals the music scene, rejection and mistakes made - in an admirable way. But adventure into the murky deep end and I am more likely to find myself travelling down a steep and narrow cobbled street, peering into a doorways down the way and hearing Nic Dawson Kelly playing, whistling and singing in every single one. "The Musician" feels antiquated, sorrowful and every so slightly [...]
