Aesthetics are important, right? It's a topic that we want to discuss a little bit today, as it's a theme that runs not only through our selection, but through the source in which we found this artist. Credit is due to No Fear Of Pop , one of Europe's leading music blogs, where they specialise in covering left-field underground music from its Berlin base, but with contributors as far reaching as New York and Sydney. This is not only a site known for turning up exceptionally fresh selections, but they deliver it all upon one of the tightest-looking blogs [...]

Needwant are back again with another killer party planned for this weekend... This time though they've ramped it up a couple of gears to bring a collection of their artists to a big warehouse rave out in East London. On the bill we have all round Chicago legend Robert Owens, Italian classic house maestro Nicholas and Lithuanian musical royalty Mario Basanov! Bringing in the label lovin will be head honcho and my jefe Sean Brosnan. The Mixmag team recognised the serious heat the label is getting and posed Sean some questions in their Scene Selection feature. Give [...]

Image by Noemie Goudal [ Live At Robert Johnson ] If last year's Focus For Infinity showed us anything about Massimiliano Pagliara's production style, it was obviously that his compositions are beautifully and slowly made of delicate filigree in the image of frozen waterfalls. They take their time unfolding - relying less on any rhythmic workout and more on [...]

If you want a dose of no nonsense house then our top pick these days is Londoner Jordan Peak. His own productions are all on point but he's also a very good DJ which I'm sure you'll agree with once you've bounced your way through his new mix for the geordie Jaunt party squad. Catch him playing for them alongside our equally favourite House DJ of the moment Nicholas on the 9th March at Legends, Newcastle . Tracklist 01 Washerman "Basement Chord" [Drumpoet Community] 02 K. Hand "What's Going On" [Acacia Records] [...]

Sleazy disco classic I'm sure everyone has heard at least one time before. From voguing scenes in Paris is burning to killin' hookers in GTA this tracks serves the perfect soundtrack no matter what the occasion. Don't think I have ever actually played the full 11 mins out but I'm gonna make it my mission over the next few weeks. Here is prob the most famous edit of the bunch, provided by Danny Krivit for you're aural pleasure. NICHOLAS | LOVE MESSAGE Nicholas has sampled this track on his latest EP for [...]

Nicholas is back on the always impressive Home Taping with a couple of bumping house bootlegs. It seems everyone cant get enough of the young Italian as his profile has just got bigger and bigger. Make sure you listen to his Resident Advisor podcast to see just why everyone is going crazy for his take on bumping vintage house music.

I'm gonna be playing a bit of an old deep house sounding set soon and I wanted to dig some gems out so I went straight to the master... Nicholas. He came back and said if I wanted to destroy some dancefloors then this was the one! And by gosh he's right... just listen to this monster from Washerman which is out now! Fist pumps at the ready! BUY IT

If you weren't satisfied with the amazing job that Nicholas did on the Nu Groove tracks last month then you are a old school house musical fatso... in which case you can always go for another tasty meal in the form of the original tracks themselves. Nu Groove original bits and pieces are getting released by Rush Hour and Gerd Janson has done an hour long promo mix with some of his favourites from way back when! Grab the CD or LP1 or even LP2 ... For the Nicholas goodies go [...]

Haven't posted about Nicholas for a while... but having worked my fingers to the bone on the Nu Groove project I kinda needed a rest... buuuut Its' kinda hard to ignore the continuing hype around the young Italian. He's since gone on to do a Resident Advisor Podcast ( Download ) and is putting more and more of his classic house sounds all over the place. Here's just a sliver of yet more of his output!
Italy's up-and-coming house talent offers a live house jam. It's fair to say that 2011 was a watershed year for young Nicholas Iammatteo. The producer known as Nicholas had releases on labels like 4Lux, Quintessentials and Ourvision Recordings. And he tackled the unenviable task of re-editing the celebrated catalogue of Nu Groove with aplomb. Despite his obvious devotion to the house sound of yore, you can hear that Nicholas has a distinct touch to his productions as well as those that see the light of day on No More Hits, his prolific vinyl imprint. Lucky [...]
Disco In Distress Pt. 01 released by Amplified Label. Genres: House, Disco.

Here's another one from Nicholas. Good stuff!

Nicholas has been a busy guy lately and his new stuff is sounding great. Listen to his remix of Emjay's "Come n Get It."

This brand new package from yet another UK label, Illusion Recordings , is an absolute burner. Everything from the artist name to the jacking house beat is convincingly old school and still totally credible. The NY House Trak nods it's head to the, you guessed it, New York house sound of the nineties. Deep to a level of filth, I can only imagine the dancefloor freak out that would happen if this was dropped at the right moment. NY STOMP - THE NY HOUSE TRAK [...]
