Highlighting some of the upcoming acts at Grand Point North

When San Francisco's Nicki Bluhm And The Gramblers put out their last Van Sessions video, a series in which the group performs a cover while traveling in their van, it contained a mesmerizing version of Hall and Oates' I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) that even featured a kazoo solo. The video went viral with a quickness and was linked to on nearly every major music site. As of press time, the clip has been seen a whopping 1,164,177 times and put the band on the map. [...]

Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers - "I Can't Go For That (Hall and Oates cover)"
Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers covering Hall & Oates' "I Can't Go For That". Wow. This is dope. Nicki's vocals are fantastic and the band crushes on their mini-set in the van. Dig.

Here is a feel good song for your Tuesday morning. San Francisco based Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers cover Hall and Oates' "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" while riding around in a van. Besides having a great voice Nicki plays a mean kazoo!

Phil Lesh's years in the making music venue, Terrapin Crossroads , opened last night in San Rafael, California, where the Grateful Dead / Furthur bassist greeted those who attended the "casual opening" with handshakes and smiles. Many of Lesh's musical friends came out to perform in front the approximately 200 attendees including Jaz Sawyer, Nicki and Tim Bluhm, Jeff Chimenti and Jackie Greene as well as Phil's son Grahame. Nicki Bluhm and Tim Bluhm are best known as members of the rootsy jam band Mother Hips but for me it's their solo work and now their work together on an EP of lofi country duets that is most interesting. As people, these two are quintessential Californians. They are surfers, lovers, environmentalists and do-gooders (I say that in only the most loving way). A good example of their ethos is a line from their upcoming Duets ep: "turn off the phone, put some Alan Watts on and just lay low" from the [...]

Last year, Soulive helped to celebrate the month of March with a ten-show, guest-laden residency at Brooklyn Bowl that was cleverly dubbed Bowlive. For the second year in a row, the organ-groove trio will make the venue its home away from home with another ten-gig stand that kicks off tonight. Once again, the run will feature a variety of special guests that are already penciled in to sit in with the band throughout the run. Among the announced acts that will be joining Soulive this year will be Maceo Parker, Bernie Worrell, [...]
