Yea man there are so many cool online start-up music programs that remind us of the days of cable access we think there is room for even more like this. Dirty Laundry is no Uncle Floyd Show but the premise is pure and the execution is simple. Bands at some point are on tour need to stop and clean their undies. Host Karrie K (ex-Delta Mirror) and sometimes Special Guest Host Katy Goodman (Vivian Girls, La Sera) interview bands cleaning their jeans or at least interview them in local laundromats sometimes. They [...]
Tweet Follow @acidjacknyc [Photos by hi and lo] The Night Marchers slam-packed Glasslands last Saturday for a set of straight-ahead raw punk from veterans of the scene. The band, anchored by guitarist John Reis , who previously led several bands including Rocket From the Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, and Hot Snakes, finds Reis reunited with fellow Hot Snakes personnel Gar Wood and Jason Kourkonis along with bassist Tommy Kitsos. The result is closer to RFTC's fun-loving rockabilly-tinged raveups than Hot Snakes' [...]

Tweet The Night Marchers In 2009 I was wrapped in one album (Hey Kids, do you remember albums? It's where you get a whole bunch of songs by the same artist on one format and you can immerse yourself in it. It's fun. Try it.). That one album was "See You In Magic" by The Night Marchers. I fell in love. Maybe because John Reis is the singer and guitarist and he can do no wrong. Obviously you have heard of Rocket from [...]
For someone with as much restless creative energy as John Reis, the past few years have been relatively quiet for the seasoned garage rock guru. After years of overlap while juggling an impressive stable of bands, including Rocket From The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, and the Sultans, Reis pared down his musical slate to focus exclusively on The Night Marchers , a lean, greasy garage rock outfit boasting three-quarters of the Snakes. The band's 2008 debut, See You In Magic , fit Reis' sonic stock like a glove, but a follow-up proved considerably slow [...]

Finally! With all of these great new releases, 2013 is coming on with a roar. Well, maybe not The Big Roar this time, but rather Wolf's Law , the new and much anticipated second album from The Joy Formidable . Fans wondering how the Welsh trio could possibly follow up their hard hitting debut after such a meteoric rise can rest assured that the emotive wallop of their sophomore release is just as strong. In fact, the album's title itself refers to a bone's ability to get stronger after it heals from a trauma, a fitting [...]

Yesterday marked the first time I had been to a pro football game since I was fifteen years old. That year, my father and I drove to Pittsburgh to see the Steelers play the hapless Colts. Ironically it was SH's second to last game as a cheerleader for the Steelers (she was, and I quote, the short fat one on the end). Before the game started a wasp landed on my father's shoulder. I told him about it, he asked me to swipe it off. I did as I was instructed and swiped the wasp forward. The frightened creature became [...]

We're once again struggling with the in-box and a bunch of tunes that need sharing, but not the time to do them justice with the write-ups. Take our word for it though, these are all worth further investigation. LA skater punks, Criminal Hygiene offer up their latest single, Rearrange Me , a bitter ode to unhealthy relationships, full of rough and raspy vocals met with a charging bassline, showcasing this trio's array of sonic influences, as Michael Fiore croons," you say I'm inconsistent/you have to admit, I'm fuckin' consistent. " [...]
