NightWaves are a four piece from L.A. and they make some really nice ethereal rock music. I found myself listening to a lot of Depeche Mode over the weekend, and these guys have that similar dance/rock sound. If your out in Southern California make sure to head over to the Echoplex in Los Angeles for their show with Thieves Like Us on Friday, June 19th. For your downloading pleasure, the band has dropped off one of their tracks, along with an excellent remix. (I've already listened to it three times.) NightWaves - [...]

The first single off Memory Tapes (previously Memory Cassette and Weird Tapes) first official full-length. A little more up-beat than previous works, but still that same signature removed sound. mp3: Memory Tapes - Bicycle .............................. .................. In other electro-worlds our new favorite crew over at Binary have hooked us up with a new dreamwave playlist featuring previously unreleased remixes from CotP regular Vega and fellow blog-favorite Anoraak . Awesome! Grab the mix and peep the cover art and track listing below. [...]
It's long overdue for us to give some shouts over to the Binary crew's efforts of late. Especially since they're doing the party thang with former Kunk guest Thieves Like Us, this weekend. Exciting! They've also just released the Nightwaves Dreamwave Hour 2 (go pick it up here at Massive Stereo ) with a whole bunch of new goodies. Exciting x2 Most readers of this blog should be pretty familiar with Binary - they're the LA-based assembly of artists who have taken loving inspiration from the Valerie guys. Nightwaves' [...]

Just in time for the longer days and warmer nights, NightWaves brings us the second part of their Dreamwave Hour... as the name implies, it is an hour long dreamwave mix dashed with a few solid excloosives. Binary superstars ftw: NightWaves Presents The Dreamwave Hour 2 We also posted the demo of NightWaves' "Invincible" back in December . The boys have given the song a studio remake and is now quite the single. Remix by Snow Picnic gives it bit of a harder dance edge. [...]
New Music | NightWaves Well hello Mr Demo. How are we? Terribly good, my dear, terribly good. Indeed. If you haven't come across Binary before, then check em out , you won't be disappointed, angry, upset or outraged in any way. Just mildly more informed than you were before and might go about the rest of your day with a bigger smile on your face. I did say might. Come on, cheer up.

Before discussing the tracks I've been digging on, let me begin by saying that I'm thrilled when up-and-coming or unsigned bands use Twitter, social media and blogs smartly to help build an audience. I know, I know...this isn't a big realization, but I've just seen some very savvy use of the technologies available in the last few weeks. Rather than relying solely on MySpace and sending out demos, bands are using web software like SoundCloud, Drop.io and box.net allowing several artists, groups and collectives to generate a bigger presence not only in the blogosphere but with A&R ladies and gents [...]

I explained it all yesterday, but time to reiterate! Come out and see NightWaves perform for the first time ever as a 4 piece. Drums and guitar added to Kyle and I busting out the synths. It'll be a really good time, especially since Eddie always throws super fun events. I say this, but nobody seems to do it. Find me at the event and introduce yourself and I promise you that I'll buy you at least one drink... I dare you. Alright, to get you hyped up, here's 'Even Money'. A song about girls [...]

NightWaves , Kyle and I, have been a two piece for about a year now. We've always toyed with the idea of expanding. We've played some shows, saw a bit of the country on the way, and came back from SXSW with a firm goal of turning NightWaves into a band. This is something Kyle and I as Binary can fully get behind. We've been hard at work for the last couple months, and tomorrow night, NightWaves emerges from its cocoon to become a full 4 piece band. The practices have been sweaty, the nights have been late [...]
Its TIME! We are totally excited to announce our HUGE event! TILT has Teamed up with Binary in association with Kitsune & Danceism and we have really put together a REALLY solid line up for you L.A.! Peep it! This is going to be EPIC! We cannot wait for this to go down. This is going to be one of the best shows this summer hands down. Let us give you all some goodies to go along with this great news. [...]

||| Download: "Buzzsicle 33 I originally created Buzzsicle 3 for a special promotion, and ... well, it's a long story, but I never posted it until now. It's an hour's worth of music featuring 15 songs by L.A. artists Red Cortez, Spider Problem, the Yelling, Greyboy, the Gray Kid, Keenhouse, NightWaves, Shiloe, Robotanists, His Orchestra, Fool's Gold, Secret Dakota Ring, Intricate Machines, West Indian Girl and DeccaTree. Let me know what you think — tracklist after the jump: Red Cortez , [...]

Russell Gaskins, aka Nah'feel, is the true definition of a music industry worker: he works bloody hard and he works it. I met him at the peak of the SF house scene in ’96 and we immediately hit it off because of our passion for music and philosophical attitude towards its creation and propagation. And though he was working in the hip-hop field and was a rapper and beat maker, he had an appreciation for beats of any kind. An introduction to the deeper, abstract house of Omid Nourizadeh (16B) , House of 909 and Don [...]

DiscoTexan VEGA is back in the blogosphere after the gratis release of his fresh Disco House song "No Reasons". This time with a nice montage to accompany the brilliant track. This isn't the first time VEGA has dipped into the alt sport movie genre for inspiration, he's done so before with the 80's "classic" 'RAD' for the beast of a track "All Too Vivid". This dude has some really great things going for him, not only are the synth blessed songs damn good all by their lonesome, but he has a voice [...]

It's no surprise that most bloggers like to make excuses when being absent for a few days/being a little behind with posting a new track - so I'm going to throw my "I've been bedridden for over a week, here's something to tide you over while I catch my breath & regroup" excuse into the river and see if it keeps me afloat. Bumblebeez - Rio (Jimmy2sox & U-GO-B Remix) Gonzales - Let's Ride (U-GO-B's Disco DJ Friendly Edit) The Juan Maclean - One Day (Surkin [...]

I know, two same tracks. That's blasphemy! The two remixes are actually considerably different so listen up. First remix is by NightWaves of Pheonix 's ever so popular 1901 . I actually really love the sound of the track, something I've come to expect from NightWaves but it definitely still sounds like it's working off the original. The second remix by Diese I couldn't even recognize. Completely different and great work from Diese. And lastly, Le Castle Vania remix of Walter Meego . [...]

I could probably call this a covers playlist seeing that I have a ton of them to share. Just hit play and let it run... The Bad Plus - Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd Cover) Ryan Adams - Times Like These (Foo Fighters Cover) Amanda Palmer - Creep (Radiohead Cover) Port O'Brien - Something in the Way (Nirvana Cover) Daniel Rossen - Too Little Too Late (Jojo Cover) The Kooks - Kids (MGMT Cover) Fall Out Boy - Love [...]

Another dreamy workover for Phoenix has been dropped through the "phoenix"-filter of my inbox. Phoenix even got a special message-sound. NightWaves made a gleaming gem out of the 1901. I've got to say that the last both works, both been sent by the Binary , are up to date the most sparkling kicks. Mediafire: Phoenix - 1901 (NightWaves Remix)

2 mad remixes for your "19013 collection. Fabian's remix is a whole new side to his production. Its a little pop gem with sun filled synths. Its completely different than the original & is guaranteed to get you moving. Its dreamy & delicious. NightWaves takes a different path. Its one part smoothed out disco jam, one part dreamwave pop song. Both tracks center on the vocals but unlike most of the remixes out so far, they turn the original on its ass & make something [...]

Binary heavy hitters Fabian and Nightwaves just put out remixes of Phoenix's gem 1901. They totally shift the production to a more electro feel, à la typical dreamy synth production that we hear from the Binary guys. Part electro pop, part disco jam. All worth checking out. Phoenix - 1901 (Fabian Remix) ( YSI ) ( zShare ) Phoenix - 1901 (Nightwaves Remix) ( YSI ) ( zShare )

I'm a big fan of everything Binary . So, I was elated to find two of their latest remixes by Fabian and Nightwaves in my inbox today. I was even more excited when I saw that they had remixed Phoenix's first single, "1901", from the upcoming album "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix". These tracks are both great re-interpretations of the original. Fabian's remix features a crisp bass that compliments the vocals nicely and slowly builds until 1:20 when a filtered synth arpeggiates into a disco-frenzy. Nightwaves, on the other hand, utilizes an echoed guitar riff [...]
