I'm not going to do a huge intro because I really don't want to lose your attention, but here are my top videos of 2012 (there may be the odd unconventional choice coming up). So in no particular order... Haim - Forever The 90s vibes in this video makes me brim with happiness (without hair mascara). This song gets my feet-a-tapping, and perhaps even my booty-a-shaking, and mad props to the girls for the Destiny's Child 'Say My Name' borrowed dance moves. The home-made videos remind me of long hot summer days in [...]
It's time for the second part of our look back at the highs and lows of 2012. This time we're running down our top ten singles from the last 12 months. No mean feat after all 2012 was the year that gave us new music from AlunaGeorge, St. Lucia, Yeasayer amongst others. As with our run down of the albums you can download the playlist over on iTunes now (buying it helps us pay our bandwidth fees and helps us to keep playing you new music). 2012 - The Singles Playlist (iTunes) (Spotify) [...]
2012 left me a bit blah. I'll always find at least 5 great albums in any year that trips me out and will be listened to for years to come. The top 10 i've listed here to me I feel they've hit it right out of the park. You may have noticed that i haven't blogged much about new [...]
When the fabulous ladies of Icona Pop invited us to hang backstage, we simply couldn't refuse — so we caught up with the Swedish duo at Terminal 5 in New York City just before their show. In addition to offering us hugs and snacks, Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt also shared with us their favorite album of 2012. What a shocker — the gals love Swedish-born music as much as we do! Watch as the "I Love It" sirens explain why they loved [...]
We lads and lassies at The Wounded Jukebox are getting older. But it should make you glad to know that as you get older, you become more certain of your tastes, your likes and dislikes. We become confident in what we think is great music. And so when the staff of TWJ sat down with [...]

"It’s a jerky, dark, and layered record, complete with the kind of adept musical craftsmanship the London band first built its name on. On Four , Bloc Party learns the valuable lesson that sometimes the only way to move forward is to go back where you came from. And like a musical game of Jenga, the band rips out the pieces and starts again with equal parts precision, raw force, heart, and intellect." "In Your Eyes," the latest from electro-pop act Kate Boy , isn't the first time we'll liken a Swedish act to the Knife and it surely won't be the last. Drawing plenty from their aforementioned predecessors along with compatriots Niki & The Dove, "In Your Eyes" melds tribal percussion and air-searing synths with alluring female vocals to create a powerful track worthy of placement in Scandinavia's ever-expanding dance-pop canon. It's quite astonishing that the track is merely a B-Side to the Hype-climbing "Northern Lights." You can grab both when the Northern Lights EP comes [...]

Here is the final part of three where I revisit my tips for the year. If you've missed the others you'll find them here: Parts One // Two. Niki and the Dove - Facebook Niki and the Dove were the only band I picked in my tips that ended up featuring in the BBC Sound of 2012 , the latter inclusion meant the year started off well for the Swedish electro duo, their album Instinct [...]

Swedes in the house! On the eve before Halloween, The Hollywood Palladium was pulsing to the beats of Miike Snow, who returned to LA after the electrifying performance at Coachella. Little Daylight have been on an absolute roll lately with a handful of delightful electro-pop remixes. These guys have really caught our attention reworking some of our favorite indie acts such as Niki & The Dove, Freelance Whales, and St. Lucia to name a few. Their most recent stroke of genius has come in the form of a drum heavy, tropical tinged remix of Passion Pit's Constant Conversations , off their summer smash album Gossamer . They've updated it with a speedier tempo than the original which carries you through nicely, along with some great [...]
