So, if you're at all into the history of electronic or Dance music Douglas J. McCarthy , one half of the legendary Nitzer Ebb , should need no introduction. After decades of band work and collaborations he's finally got around to releasing some solo material, the first being this single 'Hey'. Robin Nixon directs this clip, sombre to match the mood of the track which features McCarthy's instantly recognisable vocals crooning over some deep, hypnotic Tech House. 'Hey' is out 9th APril with [...]

A one off colloboaration between Karl Denver and Steve Lima on Factory, the track 'Shengali' has a slight Industrial/Nitzer Ebb feel about it. If you haven't picked up this 12" over the years, then you're missing out - both tracks are aces.
Ah Nitzer Ebb , how much of my youth did you live in my Walkman for? Was 'Lightning Man' really 1990? Buy Nitzer Ebb's music from: Follow @electronicrumor

If you've paid even the slightest bit of attention to what the Mute label has been doing over the last several years - let alone the last couple of decades - then you're well aware of the disparate array of talents they've offered to the world. Now, for two days in May, a historic event [...]

After living in a post-fire bedroom for the past month, the smell of the water from the fire brigade is making me feel one of two things. 1, A little sick and 2, depressed. So of course this would lead me to listening to cold wave. Martin Dupont drew mostly from post punk and Goth (of course). With a typical echo Goth beat, dark wave synth fuzz and vocals vibrating up and down sit just perfectly. I am a little scared however that all this dark/cold/goth wave is creeping to close to industial techo. Im hoping tastes don't evolve to this, Its a thin line... ie. [...]

Nitzer Ebb: Industrial Complex Tour en el Lunario del Auditorio Nacional. 2 de diciembre 2010. Todas las fotografías por Toni François .

After a thirteen year hiatus from the studio, Die Krupps just released a new eight-track EP "Als Wären Wir Für Immer" (I believe this translates as "When We Were Forever") which serves as a teaser for a full-length that is supposed to follow sometime next year. The new EP contains five new tracks (with the track "Dr. Mabuse" being a remake of Propaganda's 1984 single) and three remixes. This release marks a return to Die Krupps' EBM roots and the heavy-metal guitar sounds from the band's past releases are either muted or gone. Three of the [...]

Earlier this year, Nitzer Ebb released Industrial Complex (Major Records), which marks their first album of new material since 1995's Big Hit . Core duo Douglas McCarthy and Bon Harris are re-joined by Big Hit era percussionist Jason Payne and the band sounds remarkably fresh and relevant for having taken a fifteen year hiatus from the studio. Continuing to mine the industrial dance/EBM sound, Industry Complex sounds like something that could have come out of Mute or Some Bizzare's catalog from the mid-80s. The tracks range from the dark [...]

There are songs that evoke powerful memories and bring you right back to a pinpoint in time, remembering how you felt, what you saw, and who you were with. Some have a more powerful draw into that world and if you close your eyes you can be fully encapsulated in that moment. For me, hearing "Control, I'm Here" or "Join in the Chant" from Nitzer Ebb bring me right back to the dance floor at Medusa's in the summer of 1989. And there's nothing like a hot, sweaty mosh pit with elbows flying to make the experience complete [...]
There is no better argument for "youth" as social construction than Nitzer Ebb. The legendary group, currently touring as Douglas McCarthy, Bon Harris, and Jason Payne, performed with a vigor and gusto inimitable by acts half their age. Harris and Payne hammered together the rhythmic foundations and vibrant synth structures that commanded the audience's total attention and pleasure. Meanwhile, McCarthy's electrifying and unpretentious theatrics governed the crowd through Ebb's unmistakable brand of entertainment fascism. The boys were invincible and graced the Echoplex with a level of professionalism and aural authority that is all too rare these days. Opening [...]
