Photo : live trumpet action from No Regular Play One of the best tracks to come out of the Danny Daze , No Regular Play (live), Honeyball show has to be "Under The Sheets" by Maceo Plex . Well, that or "Feel The Same" by Shall Ocin ( Paneoh ), but I can't find a damn thing about that track. Both of which were played by the opener Honeyball. Either way, stream the No. 19 Music release below and pick it up on Beatport or vinyl [...]

What's up everyone? Well I'm back from my self-imposed hiatus, I needed some time to recuperate and be generally lazy while I had the chance, but I hope you all had a happy and healthy holiday season. Over the break my friends over at the New Philadelphia threw an absolute banger of a new years party, head over to their facebook page to check out some of the great pics. For today I'm back with a new crop of great music and a hilarious new video from French Fries, so let's get down to business. [...]

Supplement Facts - Guy Gerbers imprint have dropped their first compilation entitled Heartbeats. I was quite surprised to see some of the names commissioned for this release and perhaps a little less to see others such as Lee Curtiss and dOP. Either way this compilation is filled from top to bottom with quality tracks from upcoming and well established producers alike. The music industry is not an easy place in 2011, people don't really make money like they used to, so for us it is important to entertain not just our audience but also ourselves. [...]

No Regular Play have been gracing us with some fantatsic tracks over the past 12 or so months. From Wolf + Lamb vinyl releases through to digital exclusives like this fantastic new EP out through Beatport titled "Fall Up To The Sky" . The EP features 2 NRP originals and a Life & Death remix, L&D of whom we spoke about last week - will be releasing the upcoming Pillow Talk release on their own lable; also called Life & Death . There are some serious grooves on this EP, not for the faint hearted. [...]
Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts imprint continues to drop the bombs, this time courtesy of Brooklyn-based duo No Regular Play, with their searing package Fall Up To The Sky featuring the molten vocals of Maya Hatch and a blinding remix from Life and Death. The EP came about after label head Guy Gerber heard a recording of an NRP live set at an after party and was struck by one particular synth line, so much so that he contacted the pair shortly after to discuss a release.

This Saturday sees NYC DJ and producer M A N I K play at the final summer Krankbrother's party alongside Nick Curly in London. It was meant to be a secret daytime terrace party with sunshine, pimms, bbq, dancing and sick tunes but alas there was a license-revoking-based-inciden t and they've had to find a new venue. What they've replaced it with sounds pretty good though, with a "beautiful massive warehouse space and a large outdoor courtyard..... DJs inside and outside." MANIK's sound covers everything from house to disco to electro to funk and so seems perfectly suited to laid-back daytime [...]

Robert Owens really needs little introduction, his legendary vocals would have penetrated your senses on more than one occasion and you might not have even realised. Well the latest release from small-time-about-to-make-it-bi g-time label, Needwant is a timeless and classy record. Four different remixers were given the duty of interpreting the original Robert Owens - One Body with their own charm and the results are pretty fantastic. I remember first hearing the whole thing and being blown away that all four tracks off the 12 inch are absolutely amazing. Regular on the house circuit [...]

Click image to download full album Sounds like: Zev, Jamie Woon, Nicolas Jaar "No Regular Play - Takin' U Back (Unmixed)" What's so good? On my way home from work, I listened to this album in preparation for my review. On this bus ride, there was this hipster dude rocking some sweet grey and black stripes, his feet seemingly tapping to the DJ-Kicks [...]

Ever since electronic music first began to take hold of ears, hearts, and feet all over the United States, Europe, and beyond in the 1980's, the practice of experiencing electronic music as a collective as often been viewed as akin to a religious experience. The club is a church, the DJ a priest, the dancing masses the worshippers, and the beat the sermon. It is therefore only appropriate that Made Event's 36-hour event during Miami Music Week be entitled Sunday School; a place where children go to learn the ways of religion in an informal setting. And aren't we all [...]

Here is another absolute stomper from the Soul Clap & W+L DJ Kicks. I feel like an extremely average digger when it comes to posting two tracks from the same mixtape in such quick succession, but seriously. What are you supposed to do when you're exposed to one of the best mixes of the last 10 years. This No Regular Play track has got a bit of an RnB vibe going down which is one of the main reasons I'm so infatuated with the "Soul Clap Sound". Almost sounding like Sisqo I'm [...]

Big news from New York house music renaissance purveyors Wolf + Lamb & Soul Clap; they'll be compiling the newest edition of !K72s classic DJ Kicks series, to be released March 20th. What Wolf + Lamb & Soul Clap have to say about the release: When !K7 approached the four of them to do a DJ Kicks mix, the initial idea was do it as Wolf + Lamb versus Soul Clap. It wasn't long before they realized something more collaborative was where their heads were at. [...]

Ce post marque le retour d'Etienne sur le blog (voir nos archives ici ), dj parisien (et bientôt berlinois), qui a joué ces dernières années auprès de quelques grands artistes tels que Gadi Mizrahi, No Regular Play, Chloé, Anthony Collins, The Martinez Brothers, Hector, M.A.N.D.Y., Tobias Thomas, Substance, Daniel Steinberg, Pilooski, Italoboyz, Le Loup, Dominik Eulberg, Masomenos, Frank Roger, Mystery Jets, Thieves Like Us, Dj Nehpets, Knifehanchop, Skull Juice, The Oscillation... If you haven't heard of Soul Clap you've either been living under a rock for the last year or you simply don't 'get' disco (and you certainly haven't been reading this blog - shame on you). It's ok, I didn't really get disco until recently either. But to all you fearful disco-naysayers, Boston's dynamic duo bring the sound disguised in an palatabley stripped-down, super-smooth, r'n'b-laced form, that goes both funky and deep. That's the winning formula: deeper-than-deep house plus subtle but distinctive disco grooves. (See also Jamie Jones, Lee Foss (combined = Hot Natured), No Regular Play, Wolf [...]

Aquí les dejamos una hora de "funk appeal", vocales cálidas y "grooves" líquidos, donde la primicia es provocar curiosidad con la promesa de que, eventualmente, al final del camino... "There's a groove Wonderland". Enjoy.
