Permit me for one moment to introduce the most important reviewer on the website - Nathan Sturgeon - who has kindly agreed to lend a hand for a while. We will find out more about Nathan over time, but for now, let's say - he has a heart set on the music business, but let's leave that for a moment as Nathan takes a look at Doctrines . Doctrines [...]

Last night, with a possible case of malaria (don't worry punks, it's not contagious) I headed out to Philly's First Unitarian Church to see Philly/Jersey's None More Black play a show with The Holy Mess, homies Dry Feet, and Halo Of Snakes. The show was running late, so I was able to catch everyone. Halo Of Snakes Picture from blowthescene.com . Awesome Philly music site, check em out. [...]
I feel really disappointed that I didn't make the trek out to Asbury Lanes last night to catch None More Black, so I'm listening to them all day today. I then realize I never even posted on some of their best albums... Fucking A, I have a lot in the archives I need to work on.After the demise of (the great) Kid Dynamite, from the ashes rose hardcore band Paint it Black, and more punk

So the dudes in None More Black recently released a great new album on Fat Wreck Chords and I can't stop listening to it. It is (however) a bit different than the band's previous efforts. This new album, Icons , is a bit rougher and less easily catchy than I expected it to be. It's a bit more hardcore and a bit more cock-rock as crazy as that sounds. Yeah, there's still melody, but Icons isn't what I'd describe as "catchy" or even really "pop-punk." I guess that's what you get when you bring guys [...]

Fat Wreck Chords have made another new None More Black song available for download. Click here to grab "I'm Warning You With Peace & Love." The track is culled from Icons , which was released late last month and is the band's first new material since 2006's This Is Satire .
Philly & NYC based band None More Black returned earlier this week after a four year wait with their newest album 'Icons' on Fat Wreck Chords. You can sample two of the new tracks at the Fat Wreck site, specifically "I'm Warning You With Peace & Love" and "Iron Mouth Act". We had only originally [...]
None More Black's "Icons" is the definition of an anticipated album. After the Jersey/Philly band released "This is Satire" in 2006, the band called it quits early in 2007, and played a free reunion show at a photo gallery in 2008. So here we are now with "Icons", 4 years after their last release. So what does it sound like?Good. It sounds fucking good. None More Black was never one

A new song from None More Black, 'Iron Mouth Act' can be downloaded for free here . 'Icons' is released on October 26th through Fat Wreck Chords.

No Friends have released a new video for "Traditional Failures," from their new 12" EP we were talking about a while ago. The band features Tony from Municipal Waste and some dudes from New Mexican Disaster Squad and plays super straight ahead hardcore. Well...this song has a little more melody than most, but it's still awesome. The video was put together by Jason Shevchuk who was in Kid Dynamite
Last night, I headed out to Philly's Barbary to catch one of my punk favorites, None More Black. The show was completely sold out, (lucky I bought a ticket in advance), and I missed openers Gypsy.Man Overboard:I did make it in time for NJ's Man Overboard. Playing a brand of pop punk not unlike Lifetime and The Wonder Years. I didn't really dig them, but I'm not into really into that style of punk
The National Underground is a website that films and records live sets of your favorite punk rock bands and posts them for free online. Some of the bands they have worked with include Against Me!, None More Black, Dillinger Four, Paint It Black, Dead To Me, Small Brown Bike, Avail, and many many more. See some of the videos and download some of the recordings on their website. This year they are making the trip to the Harvest Of Hope Fest with their crew to endure three packed days of filming, audio recording, and, if they have time, partying. Last year [...]
San Fransisco's Fat Wreck Chords is pretty much a (punk) household name. Fat Mike of NOFX's label helped change the relationship between bands and labels by offering one record deals, allowing a band to move on from the label after an album without any bullshit contract obligations and has been operating for almost 20 years now. To commemorate the past 20 years, Fat Wreck released a 3 disc box
Here's the sixth in this series but first since the site's been revamped and first is quite some time. The most obscure track here is probably Lounge's "Danbury." Makes me wonder what ever happened to these guys. MP3 Rancid - Roots Radicals from the 1995 album ...And Out Come The Wolves Shot Baker - Falling Apart from the 2008 album Take Control All - Million [...]
Pictures from the Lifetime/Bouncing Souls show at Webster Hall on 8/20.
Last Saturday night, I headed out to the sold out None More Black, 7 Seconds, and Bouncing Souls show at Philly's Trocadero. Since this was a lineup that I definitely did not want to miss, I made sure to get there damn early. After waiting in the torrential flood for a good 25 minutes, by the time doors opened, I (and the majority of the crowd) looked like we all decided to go deep sea diving
This weekend, I have a blitz of shows I will be attending... Unfortunately, the one I was most excited about, legendary punk band FEAR sold out... but there's still three more, and I'm sure I won't be able to move by the end of them all from all the grooving.Tonight: Ruder Than YouTommorrow: Bomb The Music Industry (and maybe FEAR afterwords if I can sneak in)Monday: Protest the HeroBring It On!

And now, the conclusion of our extensive recap of last week's Harvest of Hope . If you missed day one, you can find it here . And don't forget to check back in the upcoming weeks for interviews with The Gaslight Anthem, None More Black, The Casting Out and Against Me! DAY 2 Just to get it out of the way from the very beginning, I would like to hereby declare all Day Twos of future Harvest of Hope Fests as [...]
