We were understandably excited when Laidback Luke, Arno Cost and Norman Doray teamed up for the original mix of "Trilogy." It isn't very often that this much talent comes together on one track and the result was nothing short of epic. Last week we previewed the remix package and then held our breath, patiently waiting for their release. With remixes from the likes of Swanky Tunes, Sam O Neall & C6, Sebjack, and GTA this package has a little something for everyone. Peep the tracks after the break. Laidback Luke, Arno Cost, [...]
This was one of the premiere ID's to come out of Tomorrowland. Norman Doray has been peddling it since then. Originally labeled as 'Yummie,' this collaboration between the three well respected producers is, potentially, an early contender for best release of 2012. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, though. The 19602s-inspired sounds of 'Trilogy' makes for a great listen. Still, no information about a release is available, but their has been an influx of releases from Doray , Arno Cost and Laidback Luke to close out 2011. [...]

Wolf Parade - You Are A Runner And I Am My Father's Son We named our motorbikes. Maggie and Ruby and Banshee and Ole Betsy. We named our dogs and cats and aloe plants – Spots and Mrs. Whiskers and Chloe. We gave our children three names each, then bequeathed them nicknames – Tike and Junior and Son – and then let their classmates nickname them again – Crusty and Stud Muffin and Fishy. But we have yet to name the feeling of sitting on the balcony, cigarette ash dripping onto our laps, [...]

i don't know how or why or when, your voice keeps playing back in my head ♫ Christopher Norman - Maps Ok, so side story here. 5 years ago, when I lived in NYC, I worked part time at the amazing Christopher Norman Chocolates in the financial district (they still have my product photos up on the website !) The owners were two of the coolest guys I could ever work for and I spent my days listening to Bloc Party, The Shins, Copeland, and The New Amsterdams on repeat as I learned [...]

I'll have to admit that I'm a little confused as to what exactly is going on here. Andrew Bird was drafted to compose the entire score for the 2010 film Norman but apparently that score is just now becoming available for streaming and purchase and neither the film's nor Bird's Wikipedia pages make any mention of the other. Don't think that I'm complaining at all though, especially since we haven't heard anything from Bird since 20092s Noble Beast . The score a bit different than anything that we typically get from Bird but [...]
You can now stream the soundtrack that violinist/singer/songwriter/wh istler Andrew Bird has created for the film Norman , trailer below. This trailer also features a perfect placement of Chad VanGaalen's "Rabid Bits of Time" Check out the soundtrack here on Andrew's Facebook page .

Christopher's beautiful voice is soothing on this bubbly electronic bed of music, think Junior Boys meets James Blake. Also, be on the look out for his new EP this September 6th. Bio: Christopher Norman is an American music producer, performer, and songwriter living in Ann Arbor, MI. He is perhaps best known for his electronic dance productions under the pseudonym Retrobyte, particularly his remix of "Light The Skies" by trance group Cerf, Mitiska, & Jaren. He first came to prominence in 2006 when dance DJs Gabriel & Dresden announced his first [...]

In Reaction to Distractions by Norman! Norman! is from Northport, NY wherever that is. Doesn't matter, b/c I'm diggin this new EP from them entitled Ride Our Bikes, Fly Our Kites . Childhood innocence, jaded 21st century living, complaints (or is that admiration?) over Will Ferrell makes for upbeat & math-y post rock, but not in a technical way, more like in a throw-your-calculator-down-the -slide way. Fans of Small Brown Bike, Everyone Everywhere, Get-Up Kids should check this and be patient with the tracks like "If Strength Were All Tiger Would Not Fear Scorpion" because the [...]

This week saw the release of the debut LP from Berlin-based electronic wonder Norman Palm . Released by City Slang ( Arcade Fire, Caribou, Broken Social Scene ) Shore to Shore has already staked a claim as one of the all-out pop records of the year, encompassing everything from electro-pop to Krautrock. His first release - a self-released 200-page artbook and accompanying soundtrack - has seen him gain a reputation as one of the most creative artists around at the moment. With an album that spans so many genres and a [...]
Norman Palm lives and works in Berlin and Mexico City. He sings and writes tender songs, and is probably most famous for his slowed-down cover versions of Boys Don't Cry and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun which have amassed many a view on YouTube.
"When it came to live performance, Depth & Current's show augmented the intensity of the music with an equally intense visual experience. The band's low tech (but still effective) light and fog show was always part of the mix up until the time that hundreds of feet of extension cords were littering the stage, creating a liability for venues and their sensitive breaker boxes". "Enter the fifth and final member of Depth & Current, Joey Powell, who now runs the more [...]
Monday Afternoon Quick Fix runs every Monday afternoon to showcase the best of Chicago music news, views and stories from around the interwebs and blogosphere that we might have missed. Windy City Rock recorded an interview and live music session with Soft Speaker. The New York Times went and hung out at the newly re-opened Fireside Bowl in Logan Square. Fresh off a hot set at the Pitchfork Music Festival, Jon Spencer had a few choice words regarding "fucking asshole" Jim DeRogatis. [...]

I assume that by now everyone has heard the new Blitzen Trapper album, Destroyer of the Void , right? While the band's past efforts ripped through genres like Jeremiah Masoli looking for a new laptop (sorry, it's just too easy ), Destroyer of the Void sees the band narrowing its focus and concentrating on a brand of countrified rock that feels like it could easily fit on a Flying Burrito Brothers record. It also appears that influence has rubbed-off on another band with heavy alt-country roots: local quintet Norman. "No Clouds" is one of [...]
