Between his releases under the Nostalgia 77 name (with a fourth album released earlier this year on Tru Thoughts Recordings, The Sleepwalking Society), collaborative projects such as the afro-jazz of Skeletons, the Afro-Latin of The Rhythmagic Orchestra, or the Funk-Rock of The Broken Keys, producing music for Alice Russell, Lizzy Parks, his own UK jazz label Impossible Ark Records… and a plethora of remixes, Benedic Lamdin just seems unstoppable. He's at the forefront of today's Jazz musicians in the UK while always exploring new styles. His new album is empowered with overtones of blues and folk, while the remixes available [...]

Nostalgia 77 - When Love Is Strange Mo Kolours - Biddies Real dope jazzy vibes in this Label Love compilation. Some heavy funk business from the First Word Records camp today, who have unleashed their latest players, Brighton boys Ye Mighty, onto the masses. For the uninitiated, Ye Mighty are Max Wheeler (you might have heard of him from his previous incarnation as part of Dirty Diggers) and Richard "Dutch" Halligan. According to FW, Ye Dirty are "the latest product of the incredibly prolific Brighton music scene, that has brought the world the likes of Quantic, Bonobo, Nostalgia 77 and Alice Russell to name but a few." Label Love Vol. 3 by Label Love
After a long night on the sherbets at the age of around 18 years of age I pushed an unconscious Nostalgia 77 home on a sack truck we stole from the local Conservative Club. True fact. Top bloke. Needless to say he's gone on to greater things and I still push my drunk mates home on stolen beer trolleys.
You know that awkward moment when you realize that something from the past has been used not once, not twice, but thrice? Typically, this only happens when a hip-hop producer ends up sampling a track that has been used previously. Although sometimes, the producer is smart/deft enough to flip the sample differently so you don't even notice. But in the realm of music videos using the same found footage, that's not really quite as easy. In the case of the visuals for Nostalgia 77's "Hush," filmmaker Steve Glashier [...]

[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.] This is a nice take on the original. It really allows you to hear German singer Josa Petit's vocals. Enjoy.
Ben Lamdin, aka Nostalgia 77, chose to push his very good The Sleepwalking Society by rallying singer Josa Peit, who provides vocals throughout the uber-chill album, to perform some acoustic versions of choice cuts from the record. And here they provide a finger-tappin' take on "Simmerdown", which retains its catchiness even without the swoon-worthy production. I recommend holding on to this one until later in the day, such as the early evening when you're home and ready to grip a glass of red wine. Hit the skip for the live [...]

Nostalgia 77 is the jazz and soul infused project of Ben Lamdin. On his new album he has recruited a German jazz-folk singer-songwriter that goes by the name of Josa Peit . Peit has so much soul pouring out of her voice you fall instantly in love with her. The Sleepwalking Society is a perfect blend of jazz, soul, British folk with an underlying bluesy feel,I listened to it throughout the weekend and have really enjoyed it from beginning to end. Thank you to a dear friend for introducing me to this wonderful album, I am [...]

Enjoy the video for the acoustic version of the song "Cherry" with Nostalgia 77 on guitar and Josa Peit on vocals. Nostalgia 772s new album, " The Sleepwalking Society " is out now via Tru Thoughts .
