Singer-songwriter Noush Like Sploosh and The Jass B'stards played the The Living Room Cafe in New Delhi on Sunday, July 31. This was Noush Like Sploosh's first gig in the city. TLR has a very simple decor with white walls, and an eclectic selection of paintings and photographs and a cosy stage area which also features a couch, and Chinese-Diwali LED lights dotting the stage equipment. While everyone was settling in, The Jass B'stards-man Stefan Kaye played some reggae tracks and setup his radio which, interestingly popped with ghazals from Jagjit Singh. After Noush's solo set, her [...]
Noush Like Sploosh, the solo project of Anoushka Anand, has relocated to Dubai. The formerly Mumbai-based songstress released the song '3 Act Circus' as part of the third instalment of the Stupid Ditties compilations. At the time, the song was about two and a half minutes long. Since Anand left India, the song has evolved into a sprawling doozy of a track with additional instrumentation taking the track length to a weighty four plus minutes. Anand explains the concept of the video on her website 3 Act Circus is a recently [...]

Given my total absence from this blog over the past three weeks, I don't suppose it'll be any surprise to hear that I didn't have time to contribute to this month's MAP either. So for the second month in a row, my England contribution comes ghostwritten by MAP organiser Jason ...

This month's whothehell.net's entry for the MAP has been selected by Matt Hickey ARGENTINA : Zonaindie Eloisa Lopez - Espiral This is one of Zonaindie's favorite tracks from 2009. It was taken from Eloisa's third album, Por Un Paisaje. Maybe we like her so much because she manages to elegantly combine acoustic textures with native South American percussions and digital sounds. Espiral is a great [...]

ARGENTINA : Zonaindie Eloisa Lopez - Espiral This is one of Zonaindie's favorite tracks from 2009. It was taken from Eloisa's third album, Por Un Paisaje. Maybe we like her so much because she manages to elegantly combine acoustic textures with native South American percussions and digital sounds. Espiral is a great example of this, and yet an unbelievably catchy tune that has Leo García as a guest vocalist. What else could you [...]

If you'd like to be considered for this feature, drop by the comments section with a [...]

My favourites this time includes Norway (of course), Argentina, Australia (wonderful [...]

Some people do their good worldly deeds by tirelessly seeking out the truth among the lies, or by turning their carbon footprint into a tiptoe, or making asylum seekers feel welcome. As much as The Pop Cop aspires to make a difference, to be something better, for now you'll just have to content yourself with the Music Alliance Pact, which takes you on a 35-stop journey through seven continents on the 15th of every month, bringing music from the untapped reaches of Estonia to the beach fronts of Copacabana and the back alleys of Beijing. [...]
