I've been looking forward to hearing new Nouveanoise stuff. I keep returning to last year's five-track EP Sequence Consequence so it's nice to have something else to listen to. Not sounding too dissimilar to the likes of 'Anotherun', 'Aretha' is a stop-start joy. The obvious difference is the vocals, provided [Read more]
When you really like a band, eagerly awaiting new music from them, a sideproject can catch you unawares. As a huge Arctic Monkeys fan, I was initially disappointed to hear that singer Alex Turner was doing something called Last Shadow Puppets. It worked out - I love their album - [Read more]
The debut single from Kayfabe is a electronic pop gem.

It's widely accepted that 2010 was a classic year for Irish bands, one that was always going to be difficult to reciprocate. Last year, the Point of Everything did a Best Songs of 2010 list that featured a measly six Irish bands. Looking back, so many more Irish bands deserved [Read more]

Just in time for Halloween comes Lemonada's spooky mix featuring tracks from Samiyam, Lunice, the Shlohmo remix of 'Pretty Boy Swag', Nouveaunoise, Madvillain , Dem Hunger and Hudson Mohawke. Lemonada plays what I believe to be his first gig on Thursday in The Bernard Shaw along with Moths, Daithí, Monto, CF Meister and more at Forward/Slash . The artwork by James Kirwan is unrelated to the mix but Kirwan did a cover for Lemonada previously . Download: OcToBeR sPoOkY mIx by LeMoNaDa [...]
Here is part two of an interview with Conor, from two-piece Irish electronica act Nouveaunoise. The first part is here. Nouveaunoise is about six years old. We think. Even half of the band doesn't know exactly when they began. Conor initially says four years, his girlfriend in the bankground corrects [Read more]
Two-piece Irish electronica act Nouveaunoise have been inspired. But it's not by anything in Ireland. Despite hailing from the west of the country – "You can never get rid of that, it's with you 'til the day you die" – it's the UK scene that is really opening their eyes [Read more]

A trip to Berlin last week meant I missed out on posting this when it appeared but I've been listening to this a fair bit since. Nouveaunoise (no name change) release their new EP Sequence Consequence and moving away from their Four Tet-esque sound of the last album, this EP is more dance-orientated. It reminds me of recent releases on Planet Mu with sounds more in thrall to the clubbier side of electronic music. Buy the EP at Bandcamp for your own price. Sequence Consequence [...]
Sequence Consequence by Nouveaunoise It's colorful, synthetic beats are your treasure, then your hunt is over. The new Nouveaunoise EP is loaded with different hues, and packs them into an upbeat set of five tracks on this new EP, Sequence Consequence. Buy it for whatever price you'd like on Bandcamp .
Neoveaunoise has given us plenty to enjoy already. Over on Bandcamp you can find an album and two EPs of material that takes in some great electronica sounds. But it's time to lose the oise because Conor Gaffney and Niall Conway have streamlined their name to the much quicker to [Read more]
Irish duo Nouveaunoise return with a new name Nouveaun and 5-track EP called Sequence Consequence. Recorded in Dublin, Berlin and Madrid, it is the band's first official follow-up since the release of their debut album Paraphrase Accolade in 2010. The EP is preceded by new single 'Believe'. It is a little different than their previous work with a big beat approach preferred this [...]
Out On A Limb and Dolan's in Limerick city have joined forces to create a wonderful bill of local and national acts on Saturday, August 6. Out On A Limb, for those who haven't heard, is an independent record label that's released some of the best Irish music since 2003. [Read more]

The Nouveaunoise track 'Cinnte' is an old favourite around these parts. Toby Kaar has chopped and screwed it into a "cloudy" mix. Nouveaunoise - Cinnte (Toby Kaar's Cloudy Mix) by TobyKaar Kaar really impressed me at Whelan's Ones To Watch festival in January aided by a monome -style device and a set that reminded me of Jamie xx and Mount Kimbie. I think I tweeted something along the lines of "Holy shit! Toby Kaar's set in [...]
Tip for 2011 Toby Kaar will be playing his first headline date next Saturday.

Maya Jane Coles is one of my HOT TIPS for 2011, and maaaaaaaaaayun has she been doing it for me this week. I'm going through a distinctly housey phase; it doesn't happen often but when it does, it really does, and she along with Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and Seth Troxler have been hot-bedding it in my headphones. SUPPORT >> MYSPAZ>> My weekend turned into a 4-day unplanned spree galavanting around London. [...]

Much of 20102s music came in EP form, wide and varied there was way too much to build a cumulative list. Instead State has compiled and A to Z. While not in anyway definitive think of our choices as a foundation of must-haves - be sure to let us know what we left out. A Active Child - Curtis Lane EP She Was a Vision by Active Child [...]
Part three of my best albums of 2010 counts down numbers 50 to 41.
