Stephin started playing Guild wars. Look at these two boys. Bacon Burgers and guildwars. haha. I gotta admit I like watching. I think I would play those kinds of games if they weren't so complex, I like tetris. Does anyone like pac-man? I've never actually liked that game. Maia has a new video to go along with her awesome song "And I found this boy." I watched it 6 times before I could post it! NIKE+ IS COMING TO CSUF. keep your eyes open. Also the NASA New Horizon's spacecraft took pictures of Jupiter, incredibly amazing . [...]

When both Misterblog and Roar commented about Suburbia and Spring in the Marina Celeste- post , I had to check out these bands. Spring was a shortlived French band fronted by Alex (pictured), a darkhaired beauty with a offkey, but sexy voice that was born in Madrid. They released quite a lot of music via Spanish Elefant Records. Gentle, well-crafted popmusic with various references, from The Beatles to bossa nova. They collaborated with fellow Frenchies Indurain, a duo consisting of Jerome Mestre and Marc Collin. The latter had played in various Versailles bands, like Orange, with guys that [...]

Nouvelle Vague is no secret in the blogosphere. Fronted by two sexy women and backed by some talented musicians, this French collective only plays cover songs. Sure, there are cover bands playing every night in your town, so why support this one in particular? Because they support these albums by putting on a fantastic live show. They redefine each song in their own style, adding a new wavey and sultry feel. What's even more, they put on really, really, really eye-catching shows. They have a lot of fun on stage and [...]
I mixed undomondo radio show #5 today, and then I said why not compile a different lovesongs compilation for Valentine's. Most of the songs are loosely related to love and not suitable for a Valentine's of course, but you weren't expecting a fluffy pink Valentine's compilation did you? I'm not ashamed to admit I've listened to Cradle of Filth fervently before they become a lame MTV goth trash , this track is off their debut album and it's an ambient piece which is not really up to the other track's standards but the title [...]

Day 9 in a crazy attempt to post 5 love songs every day till Valentines Day Game time calls for songs with a rhythm that can keep you going. Here are 5 songs that won't let you down . Ani DiFranco - When You Were Mine (Prince Cover) [MP3] * The Prize Fighter Inferno - Your Love (Outfield Cover) [MP3] Sufjan Stevens - The One I Love (REM Cover) [MP3] [...]

Here’s a mix CD that is full of romantic songs, both in sound and in lyric. And since The Duke loves the ladies, it is an all-female vocalist CD. I have given you ample time to download and burn as the 14th is a week and a half away. Throw this one on; and let the flames flitter in your loved one’s eyes. 1 ~ Kaki King: Nails We begin with a warm instrumental that conjures up a romantic evening starting with some peppermint tea. 2 ~ Beth [...]
As promised, here's the second part of my favorites list. I got a little lazier writing my the blurbs...sue me. The Knife , Silent Shout When I first heard "Heartbeats" from Deep Cuts and the question I asked myself was, "Where has this band been all my life?" The moment I could get my hands on Silent Shout , I did and I was a very happy girl. Not everyone I've played The Knife for has immediately loved them, but that's their [...]

2006 has just about run its course, and all the cool bloggers are posting retrospectives and predictions. I could try and follow suit, but seeing as how: 1. this is a music blog 2. much of my attention is focused on the past rather than the present …a “Best of 2006” post would be rather absurd. Unlike 2005, where several favorite bands released albums – some great (Ladytron’s Witching Hour , The Epoxies’ Stop the Future ), some disappointing (Franz Ferdinand’s and Fischerspooner’s sophomore efforts) – musically, 2006 really didn’t unleash much that caught [...]
The end of the year is upon us, and that can mean only one thing for a fledgling music review website: it's obligatory list posting time! Surely, with so many lists of fine-tuned nuance and suspiciously similar taste floating about the internet these days, we would be remiss to pass on an opportunity to hop on the band-ranking bandwagon. What's that I hear you say - ranking artists stinks of rockist elitism? Well, what can we say, we like making lists. It gives us something to talk about. Of course, with so much new music so readily available for easy, [...]

A Very Nice Mountie Dearest Friends, our family's downward slide into criminality continues. You may recall Dearest Father-Out-Law's brush with the Mounties back in October. Well, it is with a heavy heart that I must report my own descent into lawlessness. Yes, in one brief, fleeting moment I was transformed from a staid, respectable, family man into Gangsta FiL. Here is my sorry tale... I had just dropped off Little Man at home after his regular Saturday swimming lesson. My intention had been to run a [...]

Greetings from Maryland. It was time I got out of the city. Last week's CMJ madness continued a bit into this week and frankly, I needed a break. I needed a long drive, a couch, and the lack of sirens to remind that I'm not, in fact, going crazy. Or at least get some sleep. That's always nice. I met my Mom in Jersey yesterday. She had flown in from London earlier in the week and stayed with friends. She had a rental car for our drive down to Maryland, and I called her [...]

I love October. Not just because it's the start of fall, and the weather is getting cooler. But because I love Halloween, though I rarely dress up and go to parties. I usually do a month-long horror movie-a-thon in October, mixing classics with flicks I've never seen, but always wanted to. And, I always make a Halloween mix. This year is going to be no exception. This year, I've decided that instead of just posting one mix, I'm going to do several. I'm going to try and spread them out between now and Halloween. [...]

Today officially marks the first day of fall, which is my favorite time of the year. It's definitely what I look forward to most with the transition into winter being the next. To me it's the most beautiful time time to be outside here in Auburn, walking around campus and taking in the changing leaves and the cool weather as the nights get just cold enough to put on a jacket (which is my favorite kind of weather). Some of my favorite memories happened during this as well, so that just adds to why [...]

Paris, France Nouvelle Vague is currently touring the U.S. and Canada. Their sophomore record, Bande a Part is available now. "Ever Fallen In Love" Nouvelle Vague on MySpace

(Ian MacCulloch, 6/8/05, by dopamine ) An unfortunate lack of inspiration this evening. I must be pining for Let's Kiss & Make Up. So my eyes rove and happen upon one of those old-fashioned plastic discs that seem so arcane and weird nowadays when surrounded by virtual music and the like. Charity shops are great, especially when they sell you Echo & The Bunnymen LP's. I've been listening to the reissued Icicle Works album recently, and they're of the same ilk as the Bunnymen - scouse neo-psychedelia with a leaning towards the hugely [...]
