Keeping the '802s disco flag waving , here's another nice old-school-tweaked treat, this time from New York City collective Analog Players Society pulling off a cover of Nu Shooz' 1986 freestyle favorite "I Can't Wait" ...done island style. More often than not you can't go wrong with putting a reggae-ish twist on something, and what the cats in APS do here is definitely all kinds of right, their rich, live instrumental soundbed (including trumpets, saxophone, bass, organ and hand percussion) paired with the jazzy stylings of vocalist Cecilia Stalin encompassing all of the familiar [...]

some deep, smooth house for a week that never really managed to rid itself of that horrible monday morning vibe. this boo williams track hasn't been far from my speakers since i first heard it on friendly fires' bugged out mix many moons ago.. for me, there wouldn't be too much special about this deep house track if it wasn't for the ghostly, ethereal synths that float in and out of the chugging synth and somewhat jacking drums. if you are having a tough week, fill your ears with this: [...]
From 1986, Nu Shooz with one of the funkiest bassline and recognisable riffs of the '80's. 'I Can't Wait'. Buy Nu Shooz's music from: Follow @electronicrumor

Yourself is the latest musical project from Nick Noeding, Jr. who has had many a moniker... Pollination , Low Scores , Bulk Buttons , Pegasuses . (Noeding also blogs at High Desert on Tumblr and full disclosure at GT's own Fuck Yeah Nusquam .) The Yourself project is poppier and less shoegazey than previous efforts. Noeding presently has approximately two albums worth of materials to release. In the near future, he is planning on posting a couple tracks every few weeks until it's all posted, and [...]

Well we're getting ready for the Tiger & Woods show here in Miami on October 1st at The Electric Pickle, so I'm particularly in a re-edit mood (when am I not?). Ruben & Ra have even been referred to as "Britain's answer to Tiger & Woods." These guys are best know for their Retrospective series of releases ( retro001 , retro002 , retro003 feat. Rayko ) which primarily sample or re-edit classic electrofunk/boogie tracks like I Can't Wait by Nu Shooz or Mr. DJ by The Concept [...]

So about a week ago, Italian disco house duo Fare Soldi released a couple of new tracks on their SoundCloud page that are needless to say, sun-splashed disco magic. In addition to the three tracks they uploaded, they also put up two mixes that are perfect for your casual rooftop pool party. Just adding to the reasons why I love Fare Soldi, all of these tracks are up for free download. Yes boys

Look, I'm just going to say it up front--I wanted an excuse to post stuff from Fare Soldi . They're fabulous in every possible way and we've failed at our task of reminding you of this. And then I saw today that they just opened up free downloads on their Cassa Forte track from their Casotto EP released last April. And then, well, I said to myself, why exactly did I need an excuse to catch you up on all of Fare Soldi's freaky disco goodness? So here it is, people. Plenty of amazing tracks and remixes [...]

FARE SOLDI !!! FRICO DISCO (ON DELIVERY)!!! Two fucking pimps making the pimpest fucking music. Pimp. Ye. It's never a dull moment if you follow these two rollicking Italians. They're shit is the shit, basically. Always on or below par (Note: "Below par" in golf lingo actually means "Better") with the likes of Duck Sauce , Beyoncé , Justin Faust , Chilly Gonzal , Herr Styl , and all those other cool swag-masters. Anyway, here's the dealio homies. The pimps in Fare Soldi have hella good [...]

First, an AWESOME video showing every Kanye West sample ever. THE NATIONAL I love the National. I was first hooked on them when I heard "Fake Empire," specifically by the line "we are half asleep in a fake empire." What a killer line!! It's poetry, I tell ya. ...I know nothing about poetry. But anyways, ever since then, I've been a big fan. But it's not just their tendency for musical poetry [...]

Of all the '802s pop behemoths mined by The Man Then Known As Puff Daddy in his late '902s Bad Boy Family-assisted Top 40 reign, it's more than a bit surprising that he never once thought to interpolate Nu Shooz' "I Can't Wait" into one of his platinum-certified surefires, the 1986 smash's stuttery, electro-pop fizz seeming like the perfect backdrop for another one of he and his mumble-mouthed crew's ode to all things Lavish Life. What's Puff's loss is apparently West L.A.-repping rapper Mann and his label boss / producer J.R. Rotem [...]
A aaaah I loved the 802s! This Throwback Sunday edition is so classic that I can picture the playground, striped socks and the older girls in the neighborhood teaching us to double dutch (never quite got the hang of it). Nu Shooz was pretty much a one hit wonder band because although they released 3 albums and several singles, none did quite as well as I Can't Wait and you can hear why. The synthy sounding instrumentation in arrangement of this song is the best part. It was produced by John Smith one half of [...]

Great weather here in the city. Spring officially starts tomorrow and I'm looking forward to a get-together at the park tomorrow afternoon with friends. If you're thinking doing the same thing, I suggest you get there EARLY to get a good spot. Trust me, you don't want to be cramped up with a plethora of half-naked people. The last time this was actually possible was around 7 months ago, so you have have no idea how much clothing people are going to shed. Heed my advice if you don't want to end up sitting beside some obscenely hairy, plus-size bear, [...]

I was originally going to wait until 2010 to upload a new layout but I grew tired, really tired, of the blackness that was the previous layout. Yikes, I'm a little indecisive this year; I've had 3 layouts or so. Anyways, let me know what you think of this new layout. Hopefully you dig. By the way, in similar fashion to every new layout I up, I ask that you please support WDPK in one way or another. Be it that you join the WDPK Facebook group, add me on Last.fm , or subscribe to my posts, [...]

It's like Evie froze all the good musicians and stopped new music from being made. I honest to God can't find any new music. I haven't been blown away by a new artist in months and I haven't heard any new fresh tracks in a long while. I usually post the hot new shit I'm listening to, but since that doesn't exist I'll post some hot old tracks I've been listening to. I know Old School Sunday already passed but I'm posting some 80's dance-pop bangers with some sweet female vocals on top. As far as new music goes I'll [...]
