by BBG Brooklyn band Nude Beach 's new LP II has a a pronounced punk edge, while falling somewhere between the Americana of Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and The Replacements. The sunny, well-crafted, and damn-near infinitely playable straight-up rock n' roll long-player, out now on vinyl, is currently streaming in full below. Order your copy via No Idea or get the digital via the band . Nude Beach will play Glasslands [...]

2012 seems like an unlikely year for power pop to firmly assert itself but it seems that so many sides of the genre are rearing its head lately. While some of our favorites have taken the hard edge of the form and shown it through punk and garage's inviting doors Nude Beach takes the working class low slung strum that evolved into the roots rock sound of Springsteen and Tom Petty from what Big Star and Dwight Twilley built. Honestly the band's second album (aptly titled II) seems to delight in the exact moment the transition from the two camps [...]
II by Nude Beach Brooklyn-based Nude Beach are bringing back some old school rock 'n' roll with their new 10-track LP, II , which is available on Bandcamp. The vintage power pop sounds on this album are delivered with a bit of a punk spirit-much in the same way a band like the Undertones did back in the day. However, Nude Beach is what's worth focusing on, not their influences. This is mostly due to their energy in a lot of these songs, fronted by vocalist Chuck Betz who has a really great, raw delivery. [...]

It's so damn hot. Get to the coast, I tell you, and stay under water. Listen to these albums on the way out there and keep cool with the coolest of music: surf rock! Surf-drowned garage rock, whatever! The band Nude Beach from Brooklyn has just released their sophomore album Nude Beach II on their Bandcamp for a pay-what-you-want purchase. They ride killer Elvis Costello vibes and just kick all-around ass and all asses around. Nude Beach [...]

Poppers // "Do You Like TV?" Wow wow wow. Poppers is a new band (supergroup?) featuring members of Birthdays , BAnanas Symphony , Cough Cool , Nude Beach and BlackHawks . As if all these dudes' bands weren't already interconnected enough… If there was a way for a seedy night club to be housed in a cave, then this is what the live band would sound [...]

King Tuff is fantastic. Fantastic is my word of the week. But really, they're fantastic. King Tuff is Kyle of Happy Birthday's original band, I believe. The music has that same playfully weird quality to it, with noodly but extremely creative guitar solos thrown in every now and then, except it's a little less precious and a little more punk. I don't think he plays out very often as King Tuff, so get on that tonight while you can. Frankie Rose and her Outs are playing. Just in case you haven't heard of her via Crystal Stilts via Vivian Girls [...]

Oberhofer Brooklyn Brad Oberhofer I grew up in Tacoma, Washington, and I love that place. I live in Brooklyn now, and I like it. I started recording music alone under the name, "Oberhofer", because I'm not clever enough to come up with another name. After moving to New York, the idea of playing live shows sounded fun, so my friends Andrew Heaton (guitar), Mike Parham (bass), and Pete Sustarsic (drums) [...]

Nude Batch , also more widely known as Nude Beach are a lot like real nude beaches.. scary and full of naked old men. What does this have to do with their music? probably nothing, but these dark New Hope shoe gazers are really sticking to my brain piece; Having sold out all their arguably best EP title Slut Club cassettes and making Pitch Forks " Resonant Frequency " I'm really crossing my fingers for a new full length release... or sacrificing [...]

Having last heard from Nude Beach when their epic Slut Club cassette went sold out on Bathetic , I was curious to see how their sound had changed on the first Beko-DSL compilation this Summer, I must say they sound completely solid and more dark than ever. This new song "Hot Girl" is a coldwave masterpiece alluding to some heavier things to come when they put out their first 73 on Group Tightener. As a courtesy and instead of making 4 different posts about this compilation, I've included (filtered through) some of the other notable [...]

After hearing Nude Beach 's new song "Fire" I, not only can, feel it in my hands. I want to show the world how psyched I am. I want to carve my name and favorite brand of beer into a huge tree that I know will withstand the elements for years and years to come. The only thing that could fuck with that super special tree of nostalgia is fire. Not the hot destructive marshmallow roasting kind of fire... this heavy jam. It could destroy the tree. Just to show me it's the boss of this experience [...]

Imagine Spencer Krug, the man behind weirdo rockers Sunset Rubdown and Wolf Parade, as a teenager in Canada. I can picture him sitting around with his guitar and a keyboard, his head so full of musical ideas that he can barely contain them all within his cranium. I'm no Krug expert. Maybe he came out of the womb writing incredible songs like "Stadium and Shrines II" and "This Heart's On Fire," but I'm guessing he wrote a whole lot of songs, which were probably also pretty good, before he even got to his current bands. I imagine Krug's [...]

The show started a bit late, nude beach was energetic and poppy, with a surf rock, mod sound that was fun hurried sounding. Next up was Iron Chic, featuring members of Small Arms Dealer and Latterman, played a super fun, full of sing alongs that at one point drowned out the band. Rvivr from olympia WA, was next, with guy girl vocals and a raw and sincere pop punk sound that is highly addictive. Slingshot Dakota warmed up with a Empire State of Mind which got a few laughs in. The highlight of the night was the impromtu cover of "Waiting [...]

mp3: Blackhawks - Sunday Morning In an awesome case of ask and you shall receive, Dan from Blackhawks sent me over a follow up to their first offering a few days back. It's every bit as good as I had hoped for. Big ups to FMLY for shedding some light on the dudes for me, who just so happen to be from Nude Beach & Cough Cool . Explains a lot!

Once you go Blackhawks you never go back, and I'm a self-diagnosed addict. Not only is the production timeless, but these pop-drenched jams have such a wash to them that can fit the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. After posting "More Rainbows Come Down Softly To My Soul" last week, "Sunday Morning" popped up on the MySpace, and by the looks of it the tune is lifting spirits all over the blogodrome! Dan, Adam, and Yohsuke, you guys are suhweet - go see doomwave pioneers Nude Beach in Brooklyn this Saturday at Don [...]

After spending some time hiding away in shame for giving us bands like New Found Glory, Florida has finally started cranking out some awesome tunes lately and we have been taking note! It makes sense considering the sunny vibes and year long party atmosphere that is cultivated in Florida, that bands like Holiday Shores and Surfer Blood would opt for glowing jams to celebrate the Sunshine State. This time around we are not reveling in shiny new pop sounds, instead Lil' Daggers opt for a garage sound that has its roots much further north. [...]

cred: anna yausheva Our besties Adam and Dan who you might recognize from Nude Beach or Cough Cool , and a soon-to-be bestie Yohsuke, hit us up today about a chilled out new project called Blackhawks . The MySpace is freshly christened and there's one tune up that I'm curled up in bed with, so lets get it out to the world! Making doom like it ain't no wave, "More Rainbows Come Down Softly To My Soul" is the perfect hot cider sipper or mixtape closer. As unidentifiable sounds wash over and [...]
