Kinda hot, kinda weird describes both Yuck 's new video and the terrific and rising London-based act itself. The clip embedded above is the lead track from the quintet's superlative self-titled debut, which was released by Fat Possum last month. The band has a surprisingly busy SXSW schedule next week, playing a grand total of nine appearances over the course of four days, March 16 through 19. Local fans not able to get to the annual Austin-based music confab next week will have two shots to see Yuck bring the rock next month at the tail end [...]

"I want fo fall in love" es mucho más bonita, pero "Any other time" es... tan 2001. [MP3] NYC UFOs - Any other time

NYC UFOs is, in fact, a band from Northampton, MA and they owe just about all of their sound to The Strokes. But unlike Best Coast, who also owes almost all of her sound to the Strokes, NYC UFOs don't try to pretend they don't by hiding behind awful sound production and really lame lyrics. It's pretty obvious, but as anyone who's ever listened to The Strokes will tell you, does anything really matter when the output is this good? I could have gone and freaked out about this band and ignored the connection, although obvious, [...]

I have been sitting on the mp3s from Newer Stations by NYC UFOs of Northhampton, MA for a while now. Time to share. If you have not heard elsewhere, they play a poppy shoegazey variant of the garage rock genre. Listen. Downloadable: I See You (mp3) Or you can stream their whole album using the widget below. Streamable: Newer Stations by NYC UFOs (bandcamp) If you like, you can download their free album @ their Bandcamp . [...]
I'm not one to post news items unless it's accompanied by music, and I guess to make this post not a complete loss I'll give you a song to while away your time, but I'll keep this brief. I just got an email from Adam over at Bread 'n Butter who have teamed up with NYC UFOs to release their currently free album "Newer Stations" on a limited run of 100 purple cassettes, yours for a mere $5. They can be had either by emailing breadnbutterblog@gmail.com or by seeing the band live [...]

Just came across the first release from NYC UFO's who are from Northampton, Massachusetts, not NYC. Their first release, Newer Stations, consists of 5 new songs along with 5 songs that are still in demo form. It has that early fuzzy guitar crunch of the early Strokes. Hell, their singer even sounds like Julian at times. The songs are just lo-fi enough to give the songs a nice dirty edge. These guys have the garage rock thing down to pact, and I'm certainly a fan of it. Here's the great "Any Other Time" posted [...]

On the opening track off their self-released debut album, Northampton, Massachusetts' NYC UFOs sound undeniably like the Strokes circa 2001's Is This It . Fuzzy and sharp guitar chords, riffs propelling and racing forward, and rough and raspy vocals tied to supremely catchy melodies. Download their entire debut for free at their Bandcamp site . Starting my week off listening to NYC foursome NYC UFOs and their album 'Newer Stations'. Head to their bandcamp to download the album for free. I'm a fan of the opener (below). NYC UFOs - "Any Other Time"
Back towards the tail-end of June I introduced you to Kissed Her Little Sister, a lone-star gunman from Santa Monica who's making music that can't be touched by anyone else at the moment. Well last week some buddies of Jeff, the guy behind Kissed Her Little Sister, sent me their album demo "Newer Stations" at Jeff's recommendation, and as I said back to them in a subsequent email "I couldn't even make it to the one-minute mark on the first song without being thoroughly impressed". In that first minute of the first song you're bombarded with [...]

by teepoo Hailing from Northampton MA, NYC UFOS packs a great polished sounding sound for a band with less than 2k views on MySpace and I think they deserve some hype and listens from our readers. Their sound is a mix of indie, some hazy dream pop, and a little bit of psychedelic noises. For a demo tape, this is better than some peoples debut albums. The only critical comment I might make is that some tracks I get lost [...]

If you look up " NYC UFOs " on Google you get some pretty interesting results. Strange phenomenons and mystical universes, ET-esque Coast to Coast kinda stuff. But then you'll find the bandcamp for NYC UFOs and you'll fight the urge to make lame jokes like, geez, this is outta this world! So, I'll resist. NYC UFOs recently reached out to me and after checking out their free 10-track demo I was so thoroughly impressed but what I found. They've got a decent amount of that psychedelic garage rock sound that sounds a little like Wavves [...]
