Since Odawas were last on our laptops with the whistling, psychedelic dirge " Alleluia " and the rest of the excellent Raven And The White Night LP, the Indianapolis trio moved to Chicago, cut one member, saw another get married, etc. Then they wrote an album. Nothing is better on a cold Texas Winter day like their new song "Harmless Lover's Discourse" from their new album The Blue Depths . The Odawas recorded the new record in Chicago during one of the coldest winters on record. And the feel of their new track definitely reflects the cold. February 13th (in Ireland at least) sees the release of Odawas' third album The Blue Depths , released on the wonderful Jagjaguwar label. The music is kind of like Neil Young with keyboards. Their third record is warmer and maybe even more accessible than the previous two, and I for one, can't wait for its release. Odawas - "Harmless Lover's Discourse" Jagjaguwar stalwarts Odawas have a new album, The Blue Depths , out on 2/17. The first MP3 has been released, "Harmless Lover's Discourse," which I will explain thusly for those unfamiliar with the band: it sounds a bit like a laid-back, more atmospheric At Dawn -era My Morning Jacket.

RCRD LBL's mp3 of the day today is Odawas' Harmless Lover's Discourse. It's airy and soothing and tinged with a slight touch of electro. Its actually a pretty beautiful song, one of the few non techno heavy remixes offered up by RCRD LBL in quite a while. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
