After much thought, I decided that I wasn't satisfied with my original list, nor my execution of it. I have done a lot of reviewing and listening over the last few weeks for both the Decade-End and Year-End celebration that you will see here in the coming weeks. This has helped me through the revision and tightening of this list. I will reveal PMA's picks for Best Songs of the Decade in three parts; each part will contain 25 songs that will make up a new episode of the pmaCAST. Here are songs #75 to 51: [...]

What a decade it's been. 2004 was my first year in the so-called Real World ; jobs, car payments, instability everywhere. Things weren't all happy and seemingly upbeat like the mid 90s. After eight months in Seattle, I found myself unemployed and decided it was time for more education. I moved to the greater Portland area and began prep to enter a Masters in Business Administration program, taking night classes at WSU Vancouver and making a frequent trip out to Pullman, where I'd soon attend graduate school. The overall instability and open-your-eyes wake-up calls [...]

The Twelves have released 3 fantastic mixtapes and so far I've posted two and it's been one of the most downloaded files on this site. The time has come to complete the series with the with yet another jewel, Episode II . Aside from Steph Lund's Le Miel du Mois (recently crowned mixtape goddess on The Clink ), I can't say I've heard many mixtapes that can keep my attention for more then a song but this series has absolutely no problem accomplishing that task. I quoted my friend Ben when I posted their last mixtape [...]

Somehow, this review never made it up onto thecolorawesome after the show on July 25th, 2009. It was a great show, so I'm publishing the review, even if it is a few months late. - Paige Of Montreal played the Fox Theater in Oakland last Saturday. I'd been a bit on the fence about going. I'd already seen, shot and reviewed them twice since Skeletal Lamping was released last year. I decided if I could shoot the show I'd go, otherwise I'd take a pass. Lucky for me I [...]

James Huggins has just released a catchy new track, "No No Baby" under the moniker James Husband. It starts out slow, acoustic and low-fi and quickly electrifies and builds into psychedelic yuminess. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a sampled sitar. And the album art is beautiful, too. Stream "No No Baby" by James Husband from LaLa of Montreal's own James Husband (aka James Huggins) has been assembling recordings for at least a decade, and now at last Polyvinyl Records has released his [...]

Filed under: News , New Music Art-punk pranksters Les Savy Fav have premiered their first new material since 2008's digital-only live album 'After the Balls Drop' on kids' TV show 'Yo Gabba Gabba.' A one-minute, 15-second celebration of the joy of having new footwear, the song 'Shoes' provides the soundtrack to a short animation on the hyperactive Nickelodeon show. You can watch it after the jump. Featuring the lyrics, "Shiny and clean, they're my favourite colour green, my new pair of shoes," the song is something [...]

I've only seen Yo Gabba Gabba once-partially because of the intriguing musicians they've had-and even though I've "outgrown" children's programming I still found myself humming along with their catchy, and educational, soundtrack. With artist appearances from The Roots, The Shins and Of Montreal it's good to know that the #1 children's show is at least exposing decent musicians rather than Hannah Montana or the Jonas Bros. The Yo Gabba Gabba crew will actually be performing live at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco (November 28th) and Filter has given us two pairs of tickets to hand [...]

[Fun Fun Fun Fest '09] I'm totally not late on this Of the three major music festivals that grace this city each year, Fun Fun Fun Fest is certainly the locals' secret. Granted, it's a horribly kept secret, but there's an aspect to Fun Fun Fun that makes it seem so much more manageable. Watching Fun Fun Fun Fest grow and progress each year definitely lets you see just how much this city thrives on music. From it's humble beginnings as a $20 or so catch-all of good [...]

Best Albums of 00 | 01 | 02 | 03 | 04 | 05 | 06 | 07 | 08 | 09 2007 might just be my favorite year for music releases this decade. Unfortunately, many, many great albums were left out of this list. It was pretty hard leave them out, but I couldn't press the little blue "Publish" button without any of the following albums on the list: [...]

Being the young age I am (under 30) this last decade was really the one where I can intensely focus on new releases, critically analyze and find real magic in modern music. As much as I wish I was cool enough to say I bought "Slanted and Enchanted" on vinyl the day it came out or smoke a joint and sit around with my friends about to listen to "The Bends follow-up album" with everyone saying "this better not suck!" But since I never saw Nirvana in a basement and didn't hear "Loveless" until Billy Corgan recommended it I'll just stick to [...]

What is it that makes us want to deconstruct art by units of time? Lists. We love making them. We love arguing over them. And here, on the verge of a new decade, we're in a position to do the same again. What were the best albums of the past ten years? Here at AD, we [...]

Filed under: News , Holy Hell Christian "C.T." Ballentine, a Chicago writer and musician, has been reported missing by friends . The 26-year-old was last seen on Friday, Nov. 6 at 3PM at his apartment in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the city's South Side. Chicago Police have described Ballentine as white, 6-foot, 135 pounds, with brown eyes and a "badly shaved head," which, according to a Facebrook group set up by his friends , means that "he'll either have patchily shaved hair, no hair or be wearing a hat." [...]
The details of Of Montreal's upcoming follow-up to 2008's "Skeletal Lamping" are yet to be revealed but some news about it was released by the band on their twitter, that they will be working on their new album with Jon Brion.
